  • Marketing is all about putting your best foot forward. And in this video, we talk about a very versatile product that can help enhance your marketing and advertising efforts.
Namely - Sunboard Printing, also known as Foam Sheet Printing.
What are sunboard or foam sheet prints?
Sunboard is an extremely smooth, lightweight, flat, and highly even sheet of plastic that can be printed upon. The technical name for the product is low-density polystyrene sheet.
But technical names aside we need to remember its defining characteristics:
    This plastic/PVC sheet is printable.
Sunboard sheets are extremely light in weight.
It has a smooth, flat and even surface that allows for high-resolution image reproduction with stunning clarity and vibrant colours.
Despite having a low density, sunboard sheets are pretty rigid and strong.
The plastic material that goes into making this product has a lot of air infused in it. And hence another popular name for sunboard sheets is - foamsheet prints.
Installing sunboard posters is a breeze and all you need to do is use two-sided tape to paste the print on a wall. Alternatively, you can even fix the print in place using nails or mirror cap screws.
Finally, sunboard prints are also extremely economical. And this is what makes them so popular in the advertising, print, and media industry.
What are the various applications of sunboard prints?
Sunboard prints are an extremely versatile product.
Walk into any mall or retail store and you will find sunboard posters pasted on the walls and glass partitions. These high-resolution PVC prints have great visibility and are the ideal medium to showcase your products and services.
Since sunboard is easy to cut and shape, we also use this material to create life-sized cutout stands. By this, I mean display stands (or standees) cut in the shape of cartoons, celebrities, product images, etc. Cutout sunboard stands are also used to create selfie booths, Instagram frames, masks, mascots, etc.
In fact, the applications of sunboard prints are limited only by your imagination.
We have created menu cards, room danglers, ceiling danglers, nameplates, direction boards, safety signs, exhibition posters and even furniture panels from printed PVC sheets. For example, foam sheets can be used to clad the doors of a wardrobe.
Variants of Sunboard / Foamsheet Prints
Sunboard prints are primarily available in two variants - a 3 mm thick print and a 5 mm thick print. And while this choice fulfils the needs of a majority of our clients, we also stock sunboard sheets as thick as 10mm,18mm, 20mm and even 40mm.
ACP or aluminium composite panels are a similar yet more robust alternative to regular foam sheet prints. The material is made up of a thick layer of rubber sandwich on either side by aluminium foil.
ACP sheets are extremely strong and virtually unbreakable. They do not dent or scratch easily. Moreover, this outdoor-grade material is resistant to heat, sunlight, and water. One of the main benefits of ACP prints is that they do not rust in humid weather.
So when it comes to road direction boards, or prints that need to be deployed in all weather conditions, we recommend the use of UV-printed aluminium composite sheet prints.
    Top Coat of Lamination
We offer our clients sunboard prints with a top coat of lamination as well. In the process of lamination and we add a layer of protective plastic film on top of the print/image. Lamination increases the life of the print by protecting it from dust, water, scratches, etc.
Regular, Textured, Metallic And Sparkle Finish Prints
Our clients can opt for a high gloss or a matt finish print.
Alternatively, you can select a canvas or leather textured finish to give your prints that uber-premium look. Textured prints have a great visual appeal and a fantastic tactile feel. Run your fingers over the print and you will be able to feel all the ridges and depressions on the same!
Metallic and sparkle finish prints are another variant that you could opt for. Our gold and silver metallic prints are guaranteed to make your images jump out. Shine a lamp on our glitter prints and you will see thousands of tiny sparkles on the image.
How are sunboard / PVC prints manufactured?
At Orchid Digitals, we use industrial scale wide format inkjet machines. to reproduce images on large rolls of vinyl. The printed vinyl is then pasted on our PVC or sunboard sheets using a hydraulic laminator.
