It is sad to see the F1 game franchise in this state. I just don’t see EA and Codemasters changing this. They just look at the purchases and not the player count. Really the ones who keep playing the game know what the game needs but it won’t really affect sales so they don’t listen. It the first time in the 6 years I’ve been playing the F1 games I just don’t really want to play the game. I do hope they will one day listen to the players and make a F1 game which people truly enjoy. 😔
i’m sorry to say i likely contributed to this. i only got into motorsport last year (yes, i’m american - no, i didn’t watch DTS), so F1 22 was my first F1 game. i absolutely love it, but of course i have nothing to compare it to, and after listening to the community i can definitely understand it. it really, really, really sucks that they got bailed out by F1’s rise in popularity, particularly here in the states. it means that their obviously basement level standards will appear “normal” to new players like me, while they completely betray their long time fans. i’m sorry to have lined their pockets and encouraged this behavior, i will certainly not buy next year’s edition unless veteran players are pleased with the improvements.
I think its also the fact its Always the same game, its pretty normal after 6 yrs to start getting bored, its happening also in other games like fifa or nba 2k where every year its Always the same
For example i played gt sport for like 3-4 before getting bored, then bought gt7 and even if its clearly an improvement i got bored in like 3 months and went back to f1 22, why? Because the game basics are the same and if i think the sport mode is good it became boring
I really like the new formation lap and the pitstops but the ai is (or was I don’t play anymore) so powerful on the traction because you lose like 3 positions with one pitstop. Also I hate the new handeling model, I finally could do lap after lap after lap online racing in f1 2021 and now I have to learn to not spin in a corner
It's just too random when you spin. I personally love the game because I found the league that I race in during this game. Hopefully 2023 will be better because the newer cars will just be more recycled and they'll be able to focus on more pressing matters
@@e30connoisseur that's called you having cold tyres and the car at the back has nice warm tyres lol of course they will gain on you 🤦 the same happens when the ai leave the pits and you have warmer tyres you gain on them easy
@@aspectic6227 handling. Less bugs even tho its been unsupported for 1.5 yrs now..much much more. 21 and 22 are garbage. F1 is done with EA owning them.
My first game was F121, which I played on controller to learn how to drive and learn the tracks, then for F122 i preordered it and spent money on a racing wheel. I just downloaded F120 yesterday and played a few races and the difference in the handling model and traction is staggering. I didn’t realize that in ‘22 I was constantly trying to not spin out, which is near impossible to detect because the feedback is shite. In ‘20, I can fly around and the track and actually fight other drivers, rather than 100% damage control.
LOL, you'd be the first person I've run across that purposely played on controller to learn how to drive and learn the tracks. Do you know how that sounds from the outside-looking-in? :D Anyway, great to hear that you got a wheel.
Got ghe eame issue wity the game. F1 2020 was awesome, so many fights and I could push. 2021 was ok, yet it would spin yhe car around in high speed corners. F1 22 is trying to not spin in every corner
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks some spins are completely random. More often than not I feel like the spin that happened wasn't even my fault. It just 'happened'. The Codemasters F1 games are the only ones that give me this feeling and I f-ing hate it.
The random spins alone stopped me playing the F1 games. Completely infuriating to play. Either you play medium traction which feels awful and takes your control away from the throttle or you play traction off and coddies decide to make you roll a dice at any cambered corner to whether you will spin for no reason or not
Ive literally sat there and used flashbacks in the same corner over and over and you most definitely spin at complete random😂 I'd try to do as close to the exact same thing everytime and 17-18 of 20 times are great and the others I just snap around lol like the last sequence of turns in Australia are a nightmare😂
New features like immersive pit stops and formation laps are really cool and were definitely something we wanted. On the other hand we have all the other shit that ruined everything and put the actual good things aside.
"immersive pitstops" is a hilarious overstatement at best and literally false advertising at worst. A single button to turn in? Cmon man it took them a single hour to write that code into the game
@@MpWrproductions Yeah 'immersive pitstops' is laughable. Seriously who gives a fuck about a pointless feature that means and does nothing. One button to do it right literally pathetic.
@Tomaso Crobeddu true, I just wish they would have done better. I think personally that was the feature that made me skip this year's game (if not F1 life) lol
I mentioned this on another video but it fits here as well. Going back to the 2020 game and then coming back to this one put one phrase in my head: ice skates and inconsistency.
I stopped playing F1 22 now for a month. I just cant feel any bit of grip and thats frustrating. I hoped with a wheel that would get better but it feels even worse. I switched now to ACC and its amazing. The force feedback is REALLY good and i can finally feel the car im driving.
For me the A.I were awful to race against as I mainly played two player career with a friend. The A.I would drive into you constantly, spin you out and even times keep driving into you even when they've spun you sideways onto their front wing. Also they have this unrealistic acceleration boost out of corner exits onto straights regardless if their exit was good or poor as one example i watched an A.I infront of me get a massive snap of oversteer on a corner exit, only to then immediately have this massive acceleration boost and gain 3 tenths immediately even after the oversteer incident. Thats my biggest gripe as I'm mainly a career player as this was my first f1 game I played properly
I did a 50 lap race in Bahrain in assetto corsa using the formula hybrid 22s, the grip was so consistent, never had any random spins, you can slowly feel the tires degrading but nothing major or unpredictable like the f1 game, the question is ,how a small team of people with a much much smaller budget managed to build a much better and realistic car than codmasters?
Because one is a team of passionate people who probably genuinely enjoy motorsports and the other is a greedy corporation with passion for money and nothing else.
Best pressure is to stop paying for it. Ironically, this was the first time I've ever paid full price on release(I'm tight on funds too). Oh well. Next year I'll be waiting until bugs are fixed and price drop, if I buy it at all. Lots of other games to play. As a player who isn't very good, but stubbornly only plays with no assists, I'd like to see a better overall driving feel, particularly a better sense of the grip limits, which you've addressed many times
I should add, the AI driving into me when I clearly have at least half of my car on the inside of a corner is ridiculous. I don't play a tonne, but when I do, I run practice GPs to find where the AI is best to overtake, and it's usually on the outside for me to avoid the AI smashing my wing. If it's a human player, they wouldn't close that door knowing it's automatic damage.
Been a day 1 buyer since F1 16. Playing co op career with my mate last game was class, I can't even play f1 22 because of frame rate drops. Been waiting for a patch to fix for months.
It really blows my mind that there were people sitting around a table and saying that F1 life will be the next best thing to come to a F1 game. I have had the game since its launch and I have literally spent a max total of 5mins in F1 life. Its a RACING game! Give me amazing racing! The saddest part of all this is there has been a significant boost in viewership and interest in F1 since the start of Drive to Survive. There is no better time than now to make a great F1 game and yet I look (just like limitless) to every other racing game to give me the F1 driving experience. The F1 franchise needs a complete new graphic engine. I would go as far as to say that F1 manager's graphics looks better than f1 2022, and it's a manager game for crying out loud. I am unbelievably frustrated with this game and I have put myself out of my misery and uninstalled it. RIP F1 2022
Man, F1 life could've been a great addition to the game if implemented right. I thought it would be something kind of fun to fill in the space between each race because rn the career mode feels extremely bland. But they added F1 life to the menu of the game which is extremely boring and dumb. Also imagine the game having 100 problems and crying about graphics 🤣🤣🤣
-bring back classic cars -add more tracks (hockenheim, sepang, istanbul) -update current tracks -better physics in general -better optimization for lower end devices
ACC is on console and has realistic physics. The physics between PS5/XS versions and the pc version are identical. Your point is invalid. This has nothing to do with the game being on console.
My dream (which will never happen) would be iRacing partnered with F1 and we got all of the tracks from the calendar, as well as adding some of the F1 rules (3 qualifying sessions, safety cars, formation lap). The handling of iRacing is a million times better, VR actually works, it's just missing those last few bits to be able to run a full AI season for maximum immersion (as well as not having liveries for other teams)
If I'm reading your comment correctly, VR has nothing to do with being able to run a full AI season for maximum immersion. Definitely, iRacing is where it's at for actual competition with other humans. As far as AI goes, iRacing has no more an advantage there than any of the other sim racers.
Ngl I also really liked the handling model when the game was first released but after each update I feel like things have gone downhill. Up until about Dec I didn't think the game was bad overall, vs 2021, but I have begun to realize that the only reason I felt that way was because I am overall more competitive YOY through natural progression. I am beyond annoyed by the constant inconsistencies in things like the way the cars react over curbs and low speed traction (especially at the starts). I took a 3 week break in Dec after feeling a bit burnt out, hoping to get some of that joy back, but nothing has changed. I'm around 130hrs in and am still lacking the confidence I believe I should have by now.
@@redbullsauberpetronas fr i thought I was the only one with this i haven't played in September and then I got back to the game in October and i just got worse i couldn't drive i felt like it was the first time I was driving this game is frustrating to say the least
Here are my problems I see in F1 22: first of all, I feel like the difficulty in the game is all over the place as even putting them on 60-79 it feels like you're facing them +10 higher (so that means it feels like they bunk up the difficulty) so if playing on 110 or higher, it feels like it's 120-140 difficulty ai. It could been better if they fix it like how it was bit competitive to race against ai since 16-20. But it can be somewhat fun sometimes. And they can take you out even as they are far away to make the corner. Supercars: it's pretty much boring because they are only used in Hot Lap and the handling is very odd. It's nice to see the car model looks ok but it's unacceptable. Online: it is very very buggy. Cross play was making game very buggy and laggy. Handling: even trying to be as precise as possible around corners, you still have your car spun out pretty much easier. Not much bad as 21 but it needs to be addressed especially the custom setups sometimes have 50/50 luck. F2: strangely enough, the cars are way more better to handle than F1 cars. Yes they can snap here and then but they are fair to handle If they bring back classic F1 cars, it'll be much fun to drive than the supercars because the supercars are only used in Hot Lap and Time Trial and that's it.
Wheel spin in like 5th gear. It’s insane. I might be terrible at getting the traction down, but I don’t have any confidence to accelerate and get mobbed at the start or out of low speed corners. No TC should be more powerful than medium TC. It’s ridiculous that I am so much faster with TC
the Circle of EA Trailer=HYYYPE > buying the game > ''bah, worst game ever" > some weired patches > somehow playing it again???? > never play it again > new trailer = HHYYYYPPEEEEEE
The handling model at release was really rewarding and encouraged practice. The fact they changed it so early felt like daylight robbery, all because a small minority of players complained about it. Really annoying, as the new handling model makes the cars feel like absolute boats. Barely touched the game since, because the cars are so unpredictable now and I’m barely able to finish a race without something unnatural happening with the handling. Now I mostly play f1 2020, back when these games had simple features like…vibrations in the controller… 😐
I tested the game on sale last week, $18 USD, not worth it, refunded! Still playing F1 2021 and 2020 until I get tired. I play with no assists and cockpit cam since 2010, sometimes I go online, always top 3. On my sixth career on 2021 always with a different team, and still having a blast. EA is learning a lesson, ignore your fans and you will be ignore back. Great vid Limitless, you ROCK!
I agree with you on ffb, as mentioned in other videos and shown when you play other games, I hadn't played assetto corsa before F1 so i thought the ffb was at its best. After playing assetto corsa its on a whole new level, the car actually feels almost real and the biggest thing was the downforce. I think they should make the ffb realistic and get laser scanned tracks. As well the controls, the car in asetto corsa is easy to drive on both wheel and controller, way better, especially on controller, than f1 games imo.
Yeah the AI seems extremely OP. I used to be able to do 103-105 in 20 and 21 depending on the track but for 22 I found myself having to bump it down to as low as 85 in some tracks. Its unfair how much traction they get especially in low speed corners. Not to mention the constant dive bombing.
F1 22 is my first F1 game (besides F1 Challenge ‘99-‘02 on my old dads sim rig when I was 5-8 years old) and as of right now I’m playing one controller until I can get my hands on a CSL DD. I struggled with traction so much at the beginning that I had to turn traction control on which I never do in other racing games or in real life for that matter. It bothered me how unrealistic it was. After the 1.06 update I found it easier to get traction overall but struggled to play with tc off due to randomly losing traction in the strangest of places that made no sense. I still use medium tc 70% of the time in races even though it makes the car so understeer horribly so I can complete a race without randomly losing traction on a different part of the track each lap. Im hoping I can turn off everything once I finish building my sim rig but even if I am that doesn’t solve the plethora of other like late of updates, new non-F1 Life content, etc. As for AI I felt like they were super OP in the straights at the beginning but after some update they seemed to not be as OP. They still make some goofy racing moves but I don’t find them too difficult to race against. Now I am playing with the AI difficulty set fairly low at 76 but am constantly raising it a few clicks every couple of races because I start to do a little too well after a while. One thing I will say is there seems to be a difference in difficulty between the my team and driver career modes, the latter being more difficult. Seriously hoping they release a solid game next year as I’m on Xbox so racing games are limited, especially F1.
After years of league racing and getting banned from the forums multiple times for telling them how they are ruining this franchise by half arsing it and focusing on the wrong stuff, I've 100% given up on it. The only thing that would improve the sales and attractivity of the game is the game finally working. Penalty system has been trash for a decade, multiplayer in general in terms of disconnects, desyncs, rpm glitch while spectating.. And instead of improving the spectators UI and make it look super good, add replay functions, live stewarding for leagues, and stuff that would actually put the game to a new level. They add scripted seasons and menu background customization. Yearly release is what's hurting this game the most. New season should be a dlc for a game that they keep improving on for years. and just gets better Instead we get the same game, with a few different filters, some grip/handling values changed around, 1 or 2 new 'features', and probably a handful bugs of yore that they reintroduced for god knows what reason. This franchise is being ruined by bad business decisions only going for short term gain all the while ruining the long term potential that it really had. i'm quite convinced they could have 10x the playerbase if they would just have seen that earlier and realized it's a well functioning game that makes people hang around and not free choice of rugs. I'm so with you that i want these games to succeed. I want a good F1 game and i think F1 is really dropping the ball too by having the incompetence of codemasters reflect so bad on their brand. Or at least fail to see the potential that a good f1 game could have on it. It's so sad that a lot of fun gets destroyed by these exclusive deals that ensure no competition and has them just pooping out overpriced (80 euro if you got the 4300xp edition) less than mediocre games. It's about the pinnacle of motorsport and technological innovation. Meanwhile we can't even use our mouse in game or restart the session without all leaving the game. It would be funny if it weren't so sad.
It’s impossible to truly race the AI, they’re either super predictable or flat out dumb, they’ll sit with you side-by-side in quali and won’t simply pass you, the straight line speed they have is so freakishly fast on certain tracks and anytime they pass you in a race, they’ll most likely not get passed till the next corner, which typically leads to them locking up and going wide or just simply going wide, never in between. I guess all we can do is hope and pray we’re being heard and that 23’ is magically better, even though we all know that’s not gonna happen :/
The thing I have the biggest problem with is the force feedback in this game, or lack of it. The car just feels so disconnected from the racetrack and there’s just an overall lack of feel, especially when trying to get back into the throttle. I played F1 2018 again the other day and right away that game felt a million times better. I could actually feel the grip limits and could actually control the car sliding because there was proper force feedback telling me what the car is doing…
I agree a 100%! Since More than 10 Years now I'm in and driving League Races. So a lot of experience. My biggest problem with this game is the physics. It is not possible anymore to understand what is happening on the throttle (sim). Since years Its the first time That I'm spinning again and again and again. Nobody on this earth can Tell me that its me. It is the game! Ridiculous power on the throttle. And I know that a lot of other drivers experience the same issues.
@@ORC_Diego it hasn’t been difficult for me. I’ve slowly gone from assisted to manual on my controller and found it to be more fun. Trying to make any game realistic is impossible, but compered to other sports, racing games come the closest. We the regular consumers are not gonna all magically become f1 esports racers through this
I’ve streamed league races for about three years now since F1 2019. Those games where so much fun and it was actually a beautiful time for Codemasters. We where planning to do a new season of league racing in our league and the first event we did on F1 22 was awful. The game kept crashing and glitching in every single try to stream. We waited to start a new season until late November/December. We all thought the game had improved with updates Codemasters brought. The first race of our new season was actually good, no glitches, no game crashing or things like that. From the second race onwards the game started crashing again and it was very disappointing. I cleaned my PlayStation4 to try and improve the running of the game on this console. Our season of league racing is underway but we had to stream with a PC instead of a PlayStation 4, only because the PS4 doesn’t handle this game anymore. Codemasters/EA need to realise that this game is not a game which will be played fully on Next-Gen consoles like PS5. It’s not a game to enjoy anymore and for F1 23 i have big doubts it will be good. I have absolutely no pleasure in this game anymore and i hope Codemasters change this for the rest which want to enjoy this game. Work to do for EA/Codemasters.
I am 100% with Marcel Kiefer (Quote at 0:46 and around) on that. To quote Martin Brundle, F1 22 is "a day late and a Dollar short" and has made it easy for me to silently disengage
TRL limitless guide to content success: 1. Every week call out f1 for being terrible 2. Every 2 weeks show yourself shouting and swearing at someone who ruined a league/race 3. Every 3 weeks say a patch has made the game good again 4. Every 4 weeks hype up another sim game 5. Every 5 weeks talk about a controversy …. And I watch every single release 🤣
Pros 1. The game is easy to play. You up on, you do some laps, you find a lobby... Depending on the time you have to play, there's something for you and in terms of accessibility this game really delivers. 2. Crossplay. Even tho we had to wait for it, the enabling of crossplay really improved league racing. 3. Good racing. The game provides good pvp racing, and the fondamental of F1 like strategy, although lacking some depth into tyre deg, plays a part into it. Which makes it enjoyable on longer races. 4. Far from beeing astonishing, the F1 game provides good graphic and general ambiance on the track. Lots of efforts are put into the details, even tho its not laser scanned tracks, and most of the tracks are enjoyable to race on. 5. F2 cars. The F2 driving model is much more consistant than the F1, and the cars are a lot of fun to drive. It provides very very good racing in PvP with players witht the same skill base. 6. The game has a career mode. Even tho it lacks polishing and upgrades from year to year, there is no other competitors delivering this level of option for a career mode. 7. Racenet data base. Thats really, really cool. Good way to learn and improve. Cons 1. Glitches at launch. 2. AI overpowered and inconsistency with car physics or skills between players and AI. Which creates a massive drawback from career mode. 3. Overpowered assists. TC makes it too easy for lower skills player to nail starts, driving under rain, and low grip corners. Its just ridiculous. Using assist should slow you down so you want to learn be better with the driving model and gain some speed and create a progression in the skills of the players. 4. Useless features. F1 life is a total loss of ressources. Supercars too. Its a F1 game. Bring me the V8 V10 era cars and iconic F1 cars like the Mp4/4. 5. Driving model. Just like you JD, I was really into the launch driving model, even tho it was less realistic, it was skill based and gave good challenge. It felt consitent on the FFB and I really enjoyed driving those cars. 6. Tyre model. This is going downhill... in the previous interations of the game, I actually felt like your driving was impacting tyre temps and tyre deg. As for now, it looks like its just equal for everyone, which is not rewarding a driver who is good preserving tyres like in real life racing. In F1 2020 and 2021, it had a huge impact on TC players as well, which was a good way to bring the skill base in a good place. Overall lots of the pros are given. Since they are selling points of the game for many years. That's the problem of franchises that have no competition in the market. EA is the actual master of giving us minor improvement over years on their franchises. In an ideal world, these franchise should work under DLC, Patches and paying updates model, rather than new interation of the same game code every year. So for example F1 23 could be a game which last 2-5 years before a brand new game comes out to replace it. Which gives more time for developpers to actually improve the gaming experience around F1. But for money making reasons... this is NEVER going to happen.
I'd like to provide some thoughts about why it takes so long them to fix minor or even major issues. I'm a corporate integration developer, what it actually means isn't all that important, however what's important is that our release calendar is being planned YEARS in advance. So for me it wouldn't be a stretch to assume that when EA releases a game, they are already aware of the major issues which will be fixed in the first or second patch. So when you play the game day one and see some weird color on redbull, the developers surely get at least some feedback about it, but they're too busy solving something more important. Maybe somebody has already fixed the bug day one, but it will still take some time before it can make it to the patch release, because developers have next to zero authority to plan this stuff. Ofc it's easy to say that's EA is a multibillion company but honestly the bigger the company the harder this gets.
Yeah but there's no excuse with something as easy as color. It makes sense what you're saying but these companies have all the power and we're just at their mercy
Hi JD, I saw that you are using moza r9. May I ask you how to enter the pits? which button? It was no 1 button in fanatec but there is no button for turning in at Moza Wheel. There are lots of player who cannot turn in pit stops.
I’ve had every F1 game from Code masters, but this year is the last one for me. I’m moving to ACC. When you get in a car in ACC, you can feel the grip of the car, no spins out of nowhere like in F1 22
I really enjoyed 21, felt like a solid driver. Had not much trouble against 90 AI. I bought 22 and hate it. Cars are uncontrollable and beyond vague on a controller. I struggle to keep up with 80 AI.
My list: + Improve traction realism (saw videos of F1 drivers saying that medium TC is currently the most similar to real life) + F1 classic cars + All tracks laser scanned + Braking point back - No more (pointless) F1 Life
So i've seen Jarno's coop career and the glitches they encounter through there, which when it gets to a certain point, its not as fun to watch. When I play though, I'm on pc this year. The formation lap and different setting for broadcast vs immersive was a great touch. The handling feels inconsistent sometimes, but what really grinds my gears, is that they recycle stuff in the shop but anything from previous games is essentially wiped from payers accounts. I also think the fia should see blocking even by ai in quali laps and give penalties for it.
Honestly my opinion of this game is severely affected by the fact I had 3 career mode saves corrupt on me, and after the patch last September my entire game was corrupted for a couple days (it did get sorted btw). I'm pretty sure what corrpted 2 my team saves was playing replays in the theatre mode of F2 races from a driver career, and as for what corrupted said driver career... I have no idea but it's something to do with F2 cars. Look, all I'm saying is be careful with the F2 cars on this game! And as for the AI.... they were providing so little action in races I resorted to using a mod to improve them
I play on PC and I’d be happy if basic functionality was there like being able to connect to servers to see leaderboards and connect to online lobbies. Also having physics work the same at 120 fps as it does at 60 fps would be nice too.
Unbelievable corruption involved in video game journalism (reviewers, mainly) and awards these days. I try to ignore them for the most part. That said, driving game of the year for F1 22 is absurd... Did *nothing* else get released this year?!
I can play time trial and do 50 laps not one spin. After 3 laps online the track feels like it turns into an ice rink no matter how slow you go or how tentative you are on the throttle, around you go.
I will say they do listen to feedback sometimes for example there was a issue on Baku where 1 of the turns if you get to close it would make the car bounce i commented about on their instagram post and it was fixed in the next patch
The problem is that now post release updates are available to developers they can release the game in any state they want and use us, the gamers, to find the bugs and (eventually) fix them . I mainly play Call of Duty and the state that was released in was shocking bearing in mind the price goes up year on year.
the connectivity ruined it for me, me and a couple friends were enjoying just going online and racing but it became so difficult to just get in a lobby together and race. endless loading screens, one of us not being able to join the lobby for no reason, after a race one of us not being able to get back to the lobby.
I Wish EA would make F1's career mode, a bit more like Fifa's Career mode. with calendars and custom character faces, decisions and shit F1's career mode is literally just "race, win, instantly go to another race, repeat"
Two days ago I was playing F1 but I couldn't start a race because the car was impossible to start (was still wheel spinning even in 4th gear) and the AI was trying to take me out every time, after 45 restart I decided to not play that waste of time of a game, and I'm now playing only MotoGP 22 and GT
I feel like they need to make it more of a sim but still able casual players to play it and they should add more tracks over the games life cycle not just tracks we had in other f1 games like portimao and china.
I haven't played in a month or so. Been playing The Callisto Protool and Mech Warrior 5 on PS5. Dead Space comes in a few days(physical copy)). But I may play F122 this weekend. Turn offs were: 1. AI dive bombing at every corner. 2. Random spins 3. Terrible starts no matter how you attempt your start. I don't do the formation lap. Maybe that would help. 4. Random tire wear/temps especially coming out of the pits. Are these issues still there? I don't mind the F1 Life stuff. I kind of like the back ground music in the lobbies. But I'm not spending my pitcoin on couches or shirts. I occasionally grab a shirt or something if it goes with the channel branding IE Purple colored stuff or Puma/cat stuff. But that's it. Super Cars are only useful for extra cash in Career Mode. I'm a bit put off as I went out and got a nice mid level Thrustmaster Wheel setup. Which sits and collects dust when I don't have time and when I do have time thr game let's me down.
JD I know you don’t play career mode, but as one of the subscribers to your channel that does, I feel I can speak on that side of it. With my team, how the hell do we not have pre season testing? That’s one of the most pivotal factors for a good season irl. The entire r&d system is broken. Some upgrades either don’t work and give you the lap time their supposed to, or they make the car feel worse to drive. And the biggest one to me, if we’re creating our own race team, why can’t we develop our own engines? How is there no setup system with the livery to change front/rear wing designs and or be able to change handling characteristics before the season, so you know what you’re getting into with the handling and get better setups.
Things that i would like to see on the next game: A TRULLY revised online experience: Work on making the online experience more stable. If you reduce (number of servers issue, sudden disconnection during race) specially online, it will be a huge improvement. An improved cross play experience: This is the feature I liked the most on the game. The fact that we are able to play against players from different platforms is pretty nice, however they need to play on getting this feature more stable. Remove super cars. Again, this is F1 not GT. If we want to play GT we will play dedicated games such as forza, ACC and others. Engine overheat: I would like to see more engine overheat online. Codemaster (E&A) make some tweaks during the game, but we need to see more overheat when we are following other cars too closely. More circuits: Add more circuits to the game. Even the reverse tracks such as bahrein, suzuka, Silverstone .
The reason why I personally stopped playing F122 was that handling model change. On that earlier handling model I were getting a consistent laps without huge mistakes and if I made a mistake like a spin, I could tell what caused it. But with this current handling model spins are so random and inconsistent. It feels like there is no any kind of logic behind it
Just putting Preassure on isn't enough if we're still all going to buy the game anyway. Their aim is to just make money, so if we stop giving them our money unless the game is actually good, then they'll start making them good.
the big issue i've had with the AI for many games now is just how inconsistent they feel from track to track on the same difficulty. I'll set a difficulty level where I want them slightly faster than me to have a challenge, then the next track i'll be seconds faster. the track after that, seconds slower. Sometimes they're hyper aggressive. other times, so cautious that you can all but ignore them. sometimes they just... do a wet race on dry tires doing dry qualifying lap times. or zero stop full length races on one set of softs. Or forget how yellow flags and safety car periods work. It breaks my immersion so hard during a career to have to constanly fiddle with difficulty or hope the game remembers how to work today
It isn't a problem to get a feature we didn't want, if it was actually good we wouldn't complain but things such as F1 life is the worst ever it needs to be removed ASAP
I feel traction control is extremely overpowered in this game. Also, when safety car comes in that silly throttle glitch happens preventing you from generating heat in the rear tyres. Extremely frustrating.
I think the issue with the ai is their traction. They drive as though they have full traction control on. But they somehow also get none of the disadvantages of having full traction control on (Throttle Limitation, Etc)
JD the moment EA got their hands on F1. I knew it is only going to go downhill. My last FiFA was 2019, Battlefield 4. Servers are bad on Codemasters! Wait to you get on EA servers! Give them the chance. You’ll probably have to pay to buy the game then pay to open a pack to unlock a team. Maybe we should all jump over to I racing.
My view is why launch a new game every year when the same thing could be achieved with a DLC to give you new car design. I feel they are ripping you off by selling a new game every year when its just new car design and so on.
recently i downloaded and played f1 2020 and oh god is it such a better game, not putting out last level battle pass items onto the shop, better physics, less bugs. at this point im heavily considering buying f1 23 at launch (ive been buying f1 games at launch for like 2 or 3 years now)
Not sure if this is just me but since the last update the handling has felt a bit better on controller and a bit less sensitive. It’s not perfect but if it did get updated then it’s a good step in the right direction. I really like the my team and career mode which yes I know it isn’t knew but it’s fun in these cars when they get upgraded and I like the liveries added to the podium pass like the mclaren livery and Audi 2026 livery
I can’t even use career mode on my PS5. After the first season (which usually has a missing driver(s) or a missing track(s)) the mode crashes the game. It’s been months and no fix. I don’t really use the other modes because I’m bad lmao
F1 2022 for the most part has been fun, What has taken away from it is the inconsistency in AI ability, example, In many tracks I feel like I do quite well but then other tracks like Imola and Monaco I’m nowhere, Monaco atleast it’s easier to defend but in Imola with the long straight it’s impossible, People just flying past me, There shouldn’t be such a huge difference between ai difficulty, I was enjoying the first 6-7 races in the season racing for Alfa Romeo and didn’t mind finishing 9th to 14th/15th when battling and actually feeling somewhat competitive but all of a sudden you find yourself 20th and getting lapped by Williams etc Also the ai not knowing how to drive past you on a slow lap (ridiculous) and also having ridiculous straight line speed like in Canada or Austria etc I did like the aggressiveness of the ai, They done really well in making the ai more spontaneous, Taking different lines through corners to try overtake etc, In 2021 they would be way too repetitive, Would be so easy to defend etc. Even my first win in career mode came from such as random circumstance, I was in Barcelona and racing for Ferrari, I spent the whole race in 4th, Think an undercut got me 3rd and aggressive strategy meant I was chasing down Sainz for 2nd but I thought the win was out of the question, Then with like 2 laps to go myself and Sainz were catching backmarkers so I knew I had to get the move done asap before my tyres completely went off so I divebombed into turn 1 and got the move done, Then Verstappen who was leading ran out of fuel and slowed to a crawl. I like the new tyre wear model and handling, Having to be on your game the whole race is great, Throttle management etc.
I think they better could replace the living room and supercars with walking around between the sessions. So if you want to go to the practise you can walk out of the office and walk to the garage. This makes it feel more like f1 life. The things that i like this year are the pits and race start because now you can drive to the grid yourself. And what they really need to fix in my opinion is the online lobbys... everytime i need to close the game because it's frozen by somthing and the waiting time is so long in between races and they need to bring back classic cars.. maybe even a career mode with classic cars or make a storyline with evolution of classic cars to todays cars to learn how everything was back then and how teams got to the point where they are now. Maybe all this is wayy to much or this is been called upon for many years 😂 but this is what i think would make the game better.
I just got the game off a sale. I've always held off on the f1 games because I run vr primarily but even all these months after release I still have the shaky jittery vr bug and from what I've seen online, there is no solution that fixed the issue.
I need to correct you a bit on the launch. It was 8 hours late, I have waited this exact time and stood up early to play but it wasn't fully unavailable, but for 8 hours.
Been playing the f1 games since f1 '97 on ps1. And you are right, this is one of the worst incarnations we have seen over the years. Some of the really old games like f1 challenge 99-02 was made by EA all the way back then, and had better features than we have today. I'd like to see something similar these days with a new game every 3 years and the years in between effectively get a roster/livery/minor track update. That way, they get 3 years to develop and make a new better engine and it continues to improve. When they say they will give us historic tracks, they give us tracks that were removed from the calender over the last 2 seasons. Give us some real historic tracks - estoril, Adelaide, brands hatch... Whatever, there is heaps of them. Add options for 2x, 4x, 8x etc tyre wear and even fuel usage - allow refuelling if you want in the game. Will make our races more interesting to have different tyre wear and fuel burn with strategy etc. Same goes with ers power, slip stream power etc. Gran turismo 7 does this stuff really well. And of course, you could always leave the options to default if wanted. More historic f1 cars to go with the historic tracks. Get rid of the crappy super cars. Add some challenges to the game where you can earn gold, silver, bronze awards if you get within 2%, 4% and 6% of wr times on time trial. Something nice to display on your super license and gives you award for time trial sweat. Allow more variation in race distance rather than 3 lap, 5 lap, 25%, 50% etc. Let us race anything from 3 laps to 100% distance. Why be so restrictive. Allow options to do reverse grids. Of course, these are all ideas that could be looked at after the existing issues are addressed - poor Ai, horrible online experience, handling etc etc etc. But there is so much they could do and do nothing for the experience. It's so disappointing.
I mostly use gt7 because i can do races with lock setup just changing tires and managing fuel. It would be nice to do daily race in f1 that have 3-4 different circuits that you can do over and over again where the driving and not setup managing is the main issues same with acc. i play 1-2 hour every other day no time to manage setup.
The thing that is also pretty interesting is that the AI is almost always faster in Q1 then in Q2 and Q3, but overall the game began pretty good but somehow got worse and worse over the update because every bug they fixed there were another 1 or 2 in place of them. Just disappointing and in my opinion they should just forget this game and put all the focus on F1 23 because this isn’t save able anymore💔
F1 life was a waste of resources & so was supercars (nothing we really wanted) They need to focus on the core features of the game much of what has been covered & making the game as smooth as possible (not perfect ofcourse) Also , actually bring out a safety car/VSC when ai cars stop on the track side 😂 F1 Career modes needs way more effort put in. F1 2012 & 2017 had a more realistic feel to the career, way more immersion. I feel like the immersion levels have taken so many steps back. F1 2021 had post session interviews...they're gone now 💀 literally less immersion with each game. Add more little cutscenes & camera angles etc Small details go along way , especially as there isn't millions of things you can do off track. Example : 1. What about a system based on choices & interviews etc that increase/decrease a reputation (I.e. team player or indepent driver) which will make certain teams more/less likely to offer you a seat. (F2 going to F1 & just in general) 2. Targets for races that affect a percentage for your seat being taken/kept at the end of your contract period. Basically just some features to freshen up the career & keep interesting. Also add more customisation to the career mode car (more livery spots , more madeup brands...also add a few different front wing , nose , side pod & rear wear styles so you can make the car look a little different from the fia model. I guess just put effort where it means more & listen to the community 😂
The best way I can describe this game is you’re just trying not to spin before you actually try to race, whereas in older games like F1 2021 and F1 2020 you’re racing hard from the get go, the traction is a lot more predictable and more enjoyable.
As you know, I went over to iRacing. Sad really. Been fun so far, though. You said it well, listen to your customer base; voice of the customer. Also, be transparent to your customers, communicate with them. If a change is too difficult tell them, and explain why or why not.
I don't think it's fair to expect them (or anyone) to say why a certain feature is too difficult, and to explain why. It's business, they shouldn't have to step aside for the competition. Now, it is fair IMO to criticize them for not having the feature, but I feel it's up to the competition to take notice and make sure THEIR games have these features.
Me personally, I enjoy driving the super cars and feel they drive quite well for it being an f1 game. I just find it a bit pointless that you can drive multiplayer with them? Would love to have a laugh with my mates in super cars after a long f1 race?
EA should just make the game "F1" so basically you buy the base game ONCE and every year players can opt to buy the newest cars as an expansion and you could collect cars from the previous years. You can race with anyone if the game settings allow otherwise you could only race with the same season cars. That way the base game could be more polished.
My experience with this game was me being excited for the new cars and buying it, waiting months on end for it to get better and it never did. It actually somehow feels worse now than it did at release.
It's not enjoyable for me personally because I just masterd no tc on f1 2020 and 2021 then with the new cars it's just spin...and spin....and spin...I can't anymore
My issue is that the series just feels stagnant. The driver career mode hasn't really changed since f1 2016 and the myteam career mode hasn't changed really since f1 2020. Codemasters will add little things here and there but the fundamentals are the same.
When the game first released with the AI being OP in the straights for myTeam career, that one thing made me stop playing the game entirely. I didnt even finished the game at all as opposed to past F1 games where I played at least 150 hours+. This is the first game since F1 2015 where it didnt hit 100 hours.
I think a major flaw in the game, more specificly with the AI is how insanely overpowered they are with traction. For players like me, who don't really have enough money to buy a set of wheel and pedals, it's almost impossible to drive without traction control. Therefore it's also impossible for me to drive against a better AI then i currently am (80-90). I can take a corner nearly perfectly and yet still lose 0,2-0,3 seconds to a car with similar performance.
So true…and it’s sadly the whole gaming industry on large AAA games…they just care about how much money they make on launch day and nothing else
F1 2020 was my last I bought ,I moved to ACC and don't even want come back to f1 games they feel arcadish
i’m sorry to say i likely contributed to this. i only got into motorsport last year (yes, i’m american - no, i didn’t watch DTS), so F1 22 was my first F1 game. i absolutely love it, but of course i have nothing to compare it to, and after listening to the community i can definitely understand it.
it really, really, really sucks that they got bailed out by F1’s rise in popularity, particularly here in the states. it means that their obviously basement level standards will appear “normal” to new players like me, while they completely betray their long time fans. i’m sorry to have lined their pockets and encouraged this behavior, i will certainly not buy next year’s edition unless veteran players are pleased with the improvements.
Find a league where drive, leagues are only thing why i even play this game sometimes when practising or racing
that formation lap you like is bugged actually :))) still not resolved after 7 months.
Literally man when I’m coming out the pits right behind someone they gain like a second on me because of the tractor the ai has…
@@e30connoisseur that's called you having cold tyres and the car at the back has nice warm tyres lol of course they will gain on you 🤦 the same happens when the ai leave the pits and you have warmer tyres you gain on them easy
Ive gone back to f1 2020 its much more enjoyable and ive realized how much they did not touch the game for 2 years
Yea true, 2020 and 2021 are so much better
F1 2020 et 2017 are crazy, 2022 sucks
What's different tho? other than classic cars?
@@aspectic6227 handling. Less bugs even tho its been unsupported for 1.5 yrs now..much much more. 21 and 22 are garbage. F1 is done with EA owning them.
@@whitegoodman7465 Same here - f1 2020 is a far superior user experience...
I noticed the same thing with F1 22. I ended up re-installing F1 2020 for the same reason!
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks some spins are completely random. More often than not I feel like the spin that happened wasn't even my fault. It just 'happened'. The Codemasters F1 games are the only ones that give me this feeling and I f-ing hate it.
I find the spins really annoying Australia was the only high speed flat out race I had where the back end didn't go .
There is one place in Spain that has this, the long right hander t3 I guess. One place in the middle of the tarmac has this ice-spot.
The random spins alone stopped me playing the F1 games. Completely infuriating to play. Either you play medium traction which feels awful and takes your control away from the throttle or you play traction off and coddies decide to make you roll a dice at any cambered corner to whether you will spin for no reason or not
Ive literally sat there and used flashbacks in the same corner over and over and you most definitely spin at complete random😂 I'd try to do as close to the exact same thing everytime and 17-18 of 20 times are great and the others I just snap around lol like the last sequence of turns in Australia are a nightmare😂
saw this coming as soon as EA got their hands on it.
@@MpWrproductions yeah but that's how they call it
@Tomaso Crobeddu true, I just wish they would have done better. I think personally that was the feature that made me skip this year's game (if not F1 life) lol
@@AfterTom You're saying that the pit stops are "really cool", but blame devs for calling it "immersive pit stops".
I mentioned this on another video but it fits here as well. Going back to the 2020 game and then coming back to this one put one phrase in my head: ice skates and inconsistency.
Exactly! 20 is way better
I stopped playing F1 22 now for a month. I just cant feel any bit of grip and thats frustrating. I hoped with a wheel that would get better but it feels even worse. I switched now to ACC and its amazing. The force feedback is REALLY good and i can finally feel the car im driving.
Totally agree. I feel this lack of grip too compared to others. It is like driving in snow. It is so frustating!
@@molaf9025 Guys, I haven't been playing AC, but AMS2 feels pretty darn good. Too bad the online structure is so bad.
You should have got EA Play for £20 for an annual pass instead which has this included and all the other F1 games going back to 2018.
Just buy 2020 or even 2021 if u have a friend for coop in case ü don't have either of them. Very cheap on sales and there are great mods.
Been a day 1 buyer since F1 16.
Playing co op career with my mate last game was class, I can't even play f1 22 because of frame rate drops. Been waiting for a patch to fix for months.
won't come, buy next game (ecks dee)
And also you can't restart the race as they removed that feature
@@justinwalker5237 in reality it wasn’t even in 2021, you had to leave and restart even there
It really blows my mind that there were people sitting around a table and saying that F1 life will be the next best thing to come to a F1 game.
-bring back classic cars
-add more tracks (hockenheim, sepang, istanbul)
-update current tracks
-better physics in general
-better optimization for lower end devices
You can't make it more realistic unless you take it off consoles.
@@TheSt1092 Can't agree on that mate. AC did it perfectly, even on PS4...
@@niels1755 No they didn't.
Gran Tourismo is far more realistic than anything F1 and it even has laser scanned tracks
ACC is on console and has realistic physics. The physics between PS5/XS versions and the pc version are identical. Your point is invalid. This has nothing to do with the game being on console.
I am not buying another EA F1 game until I hear major GOOD changes to the game AFTER release
As far as AI goes, iRacing has no more an advantage there than any of the other sim racers.
iracing handling still sucks, assetto corsa destroys it
@@redbullsauberpetronas you can’t attack the curbs in ac at all lmfao “better”
Ngl I also really liked the handling model when the game was first released but after each update I feel like things have gone downhill. Up until about Dec I didn't think the game was bad overall, vs 2021, but I have begun to realize that the only reason I felt that way was because I am overall more competitive YOY through natural progression. I am beyond annoyed by the constant inconsistencies in things like the way the cars react over curbs and low speed traction (especially at the starts). I took a 3 week break in Dec after feeling a bit burnt out, hoping to get some of that joy back, but nothing has changed. I'm around 130hrs in and am still lacking the confidence I believe I should have by now.
i kept feeling like i kept getting worse at the game, now i know whats going on

Yes they can snap here and then but they are fair to handle
If they bring back classic F1 cars, it'll be much fun to drive than the supercars because the supercars are only used in Hot Lap and Time Trial and that's it.
Wheel spin in like 5th gear. It’s insane. I might be terrible at getting the traction down, but I don’t have any confidence to accelerate and get mobbed at the start or out of low speed corners.
No TC should be more powerful than medium TC. It’s ridiculous that I am so much faster with TC
the Circle of EA
Trailer=HYYYPE > buying the game > ''bah, worst game ever" > some weired patches > somehow playing it again???? > never play it again > new trailer = HHYYYYPPEEEEEE
Mr Horse approves this video
why are you everywheree

Even the lapped cars divebomb i've noticed
If i wanted to decorate my living room I’d play bloody Sims 4
18:50 that's me I can't believe I spun by not looking where I was going because if was waving at you with my drs flap

New season should be a dlc for a game that they keep improving on for years. and just gets better
Instead we get the same game, with a few different filters, some grip/handling values changed around, 1 or 2 new 'features', and probably a handful bugs of yore that they reintroduced for god knows what reason.
Lool, its 17.99 on steam rn, that says something right there.
It's not mean't to be an accurate racing sim it's meant to be a console game accessible to everybody.
@@TheSt1092 Then you agree with me 👍🏼. Making the throttle behaviour more difficult is not making it driveable for everybody. You didnt get my point
@@ORC_Diego it hasn’t been difficult for me. I’ve slowly gone from assisted to manual on my controller and found it to be more fun. Trying to make any game realistic is impossible, but compered to other sports, racing games come the closest. We the regular consumers are not gonna all magically become f1 esports racers through this
@@temiomo-loto4122 Your answer has nothing to do with my comment. Please stick to what I wrote or dont answer.
Just needs us not to buy the game that will hurt them more
a feature to fully control the car in the box would be very nice.
bring red flags back maybe or young drivers test.
Been playing since 2017 and i agree. For this being the OFFICAL F1 game... unacceptable
Hey JD great video! Watching it straight away after the session 😂
TRL limitless guide to content success:
1. Every week call out f1 for being terrible
2. Every 2 weeks show yourself shouting and swearing at someone who ruined a league/race
3. Every 3 weeks say a patch has made the game good again
4. Every 4 weeks hype up another sim game
5. Every 5 weeks talk about a controversy
…. And I watch every single release 🤣
Pros
Cons
The current driving model is not even realistic right now.
It makes sense what you're saying but these companies have all the power and we're just at their mercy
the problem with ai is you have to change the difficulty track to track
Hi JD,
I saw that you are using moza r9. May I ask you how to enter the pits? which button? It was no 1 button in fanatec but there is no button for turning in at Moza Wheel. There are lots of player who cannot turn in pit stops.
2020 best f1 game..
second best. Best F1 game of all time, overrall, is F1 2013.
EA pulling a classic ‘Madden’ move on this and will run it into the ground.
My list:
+ Improve traction realism (saw videos of F1 drivers saying that medium TC is currently the most similar to real life)
+ F1 classic cars
+ All tracks laser scanned
+ Braking point back
- No more (pointless) F1 Life
I have a controller do people realize not everyone has the money to spend on expensive racing controllers
I Wish EA would make F1's career mode, a bit more like Fifa's Career mode.
with calendars and custom character faces, decisions and shit
F1's career mode is literally just "race, win, instantly go to another race, repeat"
Turn offs were:
1. AI dive bombing at every corner.
2. Random spins
Things that i would like to see on the next game:
A TRULLY revised online experience: Work on making the online experience more stable.
Everything you mention is true. But trust me all of these let downs combined come nowhere close to the abysmal VR on offer!
The VR is so bad. Feels like a half baked Vorpx mod. Hasn't improved at all either since launch.
Price put me off. Going from £45 for f1 20 to £60 for f1 22.
The issue with ai on this game is the exits they got, but that was never an issue before f1 22
I feel they are ripping you off by selling a new game every year when its just new car design and so on.
recently i downloaded and played f1 2020 and oh god is it such a better game, not putting out last level battle pass items onto the shop, better physics, less bugs. at this point im heavily considering buying f1 23 at launch (ive been buying f1 games at launch for like 2 or 3 years now)
ill stay to the end of every video forever as long as you never change that outro
Stefano Lotti likes this video
I can’t even use career mode on my PS5. After the first season (which usually has a missing driver(s) or a missing track(s)) the mode crashes the game. It’s been months and no fix. I don’t really use the other modes because I’m bad lmao
F1 2022 for the most part has been fun, What has taken away from it is the inconsistency in AI ability, example, In many tracks I feel like I do quite well but then other tracks like Imola and Monaco I’m nowhere, Monaco atleast it’s easier to defend but in Imola with the long straight it’s impossible, People just flying past me, There shouldn’t be such a huge difference between ai difficulty, I was enjoying the first 6-7 races in the season racing for Alfa Romeo and didn’t mind finishing 9th to 14th/15th when battling and actually feeling somewhat competitive but all of a sudden you find yourself 20th and getting lapped by Williams etc
Also the ai not knowing how to drive past you on a slow lap (ridiculous) and also having ridiculous straight line speed like in Canada or Austria etc
I did like the aggressiveness of the ai, They done really well in making the ai more spontaneous, Taking different lines through corners to try overtake etc, In 2021 they would be way too repetitive, Would be so easy to defend etc.
One simple thing: HORRIBLE GAME PHISYCS
Playing since F1 2017 , being top 1% in tt and league racing. First time I really don't want to play the game
the oversteer which is there one lap but isn't the next
F1 life was a waste of resources & so was supercars (nothing we really wanted)
They need to focus on the core features of the game much of what has been covered & making the game as smooth as possible (not perfect ofcourse)
Also , actually bring out a safety car/VSC when ai cars stop on the track side 😂
F1 Career modes needs way more effort put in. F1 2012 & 2017 had a more realistic feel to the career, way more immersion. I feel like the immersion levels have taken so many steps back. F1 2021 had post session interviews...they're gone now 💀 literally less immersion with each game. Add more little cutscenes & camera angles etc
Small details go along way , especially as there isn't millions of things you can do off track.
Example : 1. What about a system based on choices & interviews etc that increase/decrease a reputation (I.e. team player or indepent driver) which will make certain teams more/less likely to offer you a seat. (F2 going to F1 & just in general)
It's funny cause on iracing I bought the 22 Mercedes and it spins too but man it has way more traction than in f122
Without watching the video, the answer is... "EA Sports"
I like how the trees render in as you approach them. This game has ray-tracing and yet trees can only render 4 metres ahead of you lmao
F1 2023 is a milestone year, it will mark the 10 year anniversary of me still playing F1 2013.
