Same. I’m still shitting myself on exit as I’m waiting for the car to spin uncontrollably in 7th. It’s coming though. This game is so much more fun as you can actually drive.
For me personally, I learn the track quicker without the racing line. Because without it, your brain is forced to remember, as opposed to with the racing line all you have to do is just look ahead, and it isn't forcing you to remember it right away. You eventually will, but I generally remember the track about 5 laps quicker without the racing line.
I always have to first do 1 to 3 laps with racing line to remember the braking points and then turn it off and see how i can remember and eventually push it. How do you know where the hell to brake ish without racing line?
@@rogumann838 That's a good point actually and not a bad idea, but the racing line isn't always accurate as to where you really can or need to break, but I admit it does give you some good reference to start. Each to their own of course, but yea I hear ya!
Same here. I turned off the racing line shortly after I started with F1 games or racing sims. One learns a track much better and faster without the line. Plus it's more immersive.
I don´t agree. I do 1 or 2 laps with RL to see where the braking points are if you have no clue, because otherwise it would take too long to search it. And after those 2 laps I put RL off and just drive and lear´ the track. (But that was on F1 22, I don´t have F1 23 yet)
Might need a more boring race when you're explaining things, that first one was epic! Your videos have taught me a lot. 22 was my first game and first time using a wheel and it wasn't fun spinning so much without even getting multiple laps in. Can finally do that on 22.
There are so many ways to improve your own speed in this game The first few days of playing is was roughly 6 seconds off top TT times, adapted some esport setups and grinded away at getting faster and now I'm within 1.5 seconds of all current WR times :D It feels incredible!
Thank you JD, I was getting depressed that I am super bad at F1 games and I will never learn to drive faster. To be honest I am a super clean driver, who drives with no assists since I started my journey in 2020 but since then it seems I learned almost nothing and EVERYONE is faster than me. Even tho as you said I spend hours in game, I try to improve but it's like I am running against the wind or a huge tidal wave. I will try to keep my head up and improve slowly.
It probably has to do with your focus and your ability to suppress distractible thoughts because they take your mind and your brain power off of what you’re doing. If you can learn to suppress distractible thoughts you will massively improve in game and in everything in life if you think about it.
In a typical corner with a straight afterwards try to take a nice semi wide arc into the apex with a substantial amount of speed but be careful not to waste too much time getting to the apex. So you’re fast in and fast out if you do it properly.

I just got f1 23 for PC and I love this video, I started without assist and 1st hour was worst hour in my whole life but now I make times about 10seconds slower than the best but I've only played for 4 hours in career. But after some advices from this video I hope I would catch bests in a month
Great vid! In your next video about setups can you focus on the process you use when setting up the car? I see a lot of videos explaining what every single part of setups does but i'd like to understand how to approach to it, what to change fist etc
Tyre temps depend on the compound, every compound c1-2-3-4-5 has a different window, like 90-95 for c5 or 105-110 for c1, high 90s isnt the best for every tyre
I jumped on no assists on the first moment with the game, I find it hard to get use to abs and then swich it of. I understand for the new players is too hard. But if you do that leap its realy rewarding when you get use to it.
No collisions in lap 1 - do you think it's going to improve general driving skills or just opposite? Personally, another feature to make it easier for those who can't make proper Lap 1 racing and who is never gonna learn.
I'm finding it hard to transition to manual gears because of my arthrits and generally slower reactions that come with age. I've only identified a few turns on the calendar where it would be better to short shift out. Turn two at Canada comes to mind first as I just completed that round in my latest season. Took longer than I want to admit to get the power delivery just right out of that corner. The automatic gears would shift while still turning out and on the power and that slight jump in torque, if not managed properly with my feet, would cause the back end to kick out a lot. It took several restarts to find the rhythm, but I got there.
I set my preset assists alternating between Amateur and Experienced. Some tracks you easily lock up the brakes so i leave the ABS on. Some tracks, i can manage the brakes without ABS.
no assists is the faster option if you are a pro who has league raced for many years... it sure aint the faster option for 99% of players. especially those on controller. this is what most elite drivers fail to realize when they recommend people learn and use no assists. i think they forget how many years it took them to master it and be elite fast that way. with expensive wheel and pedals too of course.
I play on controller with no assists, and have done since F12020. I definitely started being faster without them. The only real thing you have to remember is not to slam the throttle, that's about it. Don't bury the go pedal every time you use it, have your brake balance set far back enough so that you *can* bury the brake pedal for most corners without locking the fronts, and just learn where the grip limits are on a given track. Flashbacks are wonderful for this.
it doesent take years i bet someone could learn how to drive without aids in mabe 25 hours of experience but you have to be willing to take that journey
I'm mostly a career player, I'm expecting a lot of problems to disappear as I upgrade the car. I'm already driving the wheels off the thing. Winning races in the 7th best car with AI on 98, no TC or ABS, I think, think, I'm doing okay. As I upgrade the car more I tend to bring the difficulty up a bit more. I probably should dive into some multiplayer to see where I stand, but after my current career season so I dont lose touch with my MyTeam car too much.

I have a questions I have been playing this game for a while but when I play with no traction control I am 2 seconds slower than when I have it on what do you think I should do?
Just practice. The more you get to know the course, the more you will sense the limit of what you can put on the throttle. I think to begin with without TC, I found I was very slow onto the power to avoid spinning out, but lap by lap you can just learn where the limit is, and you will get quicker without it eventually
@@Gpm_RD no worries. As a general guide, once you finished braking, get onto the power a little (in F122 it was a feather, but I'm 23 you can be way more aggressive. About half throttle in most corners.... Then when the car is pointing forward, push to full)..higher speed corners you can be even more aggressive.

understeer when breaking isnt to do with the wheel, if u want to feel the breaking a bit more, turn up the wheel damper settings and the overall forcefeedback. Try breaking in a straight line and then turn, when you get to the apex, use less steering and add more throttle, the throttle creates more wheelspin which will turn the car ever so slightly in the direction you steer.
