In my opinion, there should be a centralized F1 game instead of releasing a new one every year. The game could feature cars and teams from different seasons, starting from 2018, for example, with a career mode that allows you to experience multiple seasons and regulation changes. It would be designed for long-term play, updated every F1 season with new liveries, cars, and quality-of-life improvements. Yeh something is way off here, because I don't even think it's about the quality of each individual game anymore. Both the '23 and '24 games (despite the bugs) are much better than '22 imo. But I think they've pissed off so many players (especially with the '22 game) that they've just moved on from the franchise altogether and won't play these games any more full stop, regardless of whether they improve them. They're playing other games instead. '22 was their big chance to get and retain a new player base with EA coming on board, but they totally blew it. That's a hard fail in my book, and time for someone else to get the license.
Recently I took a break from the F1 games, played alot of GT7 and a little bit ACC on console. both of them pretty good games, Gt7 with a very very good handling model which is challenging and ACC with the variety of setup options (nerdy but i like it) So although these two games are very good, I returned to F1 23 few days back, and there's so many things that this game does right, like the Ai battles, and feeling through the tires, maybe not as good as GT7 but still good, the major problem is, Everything is a copy and paste for last 3 years and theres nothing new to explore or get challenged by, I personally would love A good handling model, classic cars and updated tracks and a good career mode ofc. thats all
This is an issue every sports category with seasonal changes has. You can look at FIFA and kinda compare between this and F1. Just looking at the audience you're already at a much higher average age for an F1 fan - you can play and understand the rules of football at any age but you're limited when it comes to driving or even understanding a car. But those 2 games also have the same issues - being seasonal. And that comes with little changes every year so its hard to notice except there's a big change in the sport itself or some big graphic related thing. We could also talk about the prices of wheels or setups in general just to even play the game. Take this in consideration + the price tag for the game every year, all the bugs we see on a seemingly copy/paste game and you get a winner for the "dying game" award.
@@bideomanlol Good idea! But perhaps a decreases price for the games you already own. Like in Raceroom where if you buy a carpack, and you already own some of the cars, their prices are deducted.
why we keep yearly releases? Just do one game for an entire regulation set, should give them more than enough time to make better release, as well as allowing the current game to be improved and refined just like teams refine their cars as regulations mature. This could allow an option at the end of the regulations a mode where career mode follows the evolution of teams throughout the whole set of regulations.
I was upset on how many bugs and error were on 2021 so I had enough. I bought Asseto Corsa and installed 2022 rss formula and now 2023 alpha formula mods and I have much more engaging feeling of the game than the codemasters ones...
This is how ea has been operating for years with other franchise. As soon as I heard EA was taking over I knew the game would be like this, same game over and over. They are literally taking shit out of the game.
I'm a guy that likes realism. When I drove league racing in 2019, 20 and 21 I actually felt like I drove an f1 car. It's sounds cringe, but it felt fast and it was a joy. All the bugs in the game I could survive, -200 degrees for example. If the game makes me enjoy spending my time on it, I'm okay with it. Since 2022 with the f1 life things and general handling issues I completely lost it. I drove 5 leagues a week in 19 and 20 and in 22 I drove 1. I didn't enjoy it. It's not Sims 4. We don't care about a couch or carpet. I bought f123, but played it like 100 hours. iRacing is just so much better. Every track is laserscanned, every car is perfectly detailed and it feels right. Yes f1 might be for a wider audience, but if the core leaves, then what is left? I didn't buy 24. No way I'm spending 80 pounds for that. That's 8 months on iRacing. They don't evolve the game and it get's worse every year. I'm sad about it because some of the best times in my life has been racing on the f1 games against people who love the sport. The downfall is just crazy and it comes from EA and Codemasters being arrogant and ignorant to their fanbase- just watch the FIFA or Madden communities. Alex Gillon made a video about EA and Codies not listening to the creators and Esport drivers. Aarav as well. Just not good enough. Personally I won't drive the games again before a new engine or some really encouraging video material and I think the only way to get EA and Codies to do better is buy showing them that we don't accept their ignorance.
I mean they released a game and literally said it wont be ready till an update. Who the hell does that. They got no one to blame but themselves. They dont listen to the players at all they barely listen to the esports guys who play it for a living. I never seen a company that doesnt care what customers think. They also said they are not changing the handling model and classic cars will not return. So crap handling and couches is the goal. 75% loss of sales since last year is just nuts but makes sense
Makes me wonder if this is why EA/ Codemasters are going a different route with the WRC game by having a yearly DLC update instead of a whole new game each year, to see if that model works. Maybe we could see the F1 games go this way in the future. Release a base game and each year have a paid DLC for that season with new Drivers and Liveries.
I think the price has a lot to do with it as well as when the game is released. I might be wrong but the game is released towards the end of the F1 season when a couple of months later, drivers are at different teams, liveries, sponsors, designs etc. Also the game is getting more and more expensive and there is a lack of new features worth paying £55+ for.
The issue with rotating the license is the hiccups in the first year with a new developer, also at this rate even if they were to open the license up to other devs it would be 2-3 years before we'd see the new game... I think all of the leagues are doing fans a disservice having sports games like Madden, F1, 2K, EAFC to have exclusive licenses. We need parity and competition brings innovation
The f1 24 is the best game in comparison with the previous ones in terms of car control, now you can actually drive that thing, rotate the car, catch a drift and so on. Yes we miss the classic cars (imagine a classic cars race with this kind of control…) and the practice programs may be improved but overall this time they hit it with this game
And just to add, I think the way the game is being "promoted", as needing a setup or at least a wheel, scares off many casual players who just want to play. In my experience, my friends often say, 'Without a steering wheel, it's not the same,' and because of that, they don't even give the game a chance.
I think that they should Release a new Game everytime there is a big change of Regulations and just Update the Game every couple months. We don’t have to buy a new Game every year, the technical Team can Focus on the new regs and Cars, the Game has a bigger playerbase and they can just Focus on bringing new Content and Features based on out Feedback.
It's interesting looking back at the F1 2010 developer videos. You got a real sense of passion for replicating the 'authenticity' of the sport. I still miss the "be the driver" aspect of that game and they never evolved on it. The games visually look the best they've ever looked, and I do appreciate they've continued to support the F2 updates. But some of the much more interesting modes have been cut or lost over time. And the things that have replaced them (like point break) feel like superficial additions to appeal to a market that have no interest in the games at all. And I feel like they put a ton of effort into that mode! Wasted effort. They never seem to actually stick with a mode and evolve it - and that's the crux of my problem with them. Hell, they've not even ensured each years game has had the latest track updates in the official calendar. F1 24 is the first Codemaster F1 game I haven't bought. Not even with the 40% sales they've been pushing that just price the game the same as they used to cost on release.
Yes, please no more Codemasters for the F1 game!!! I have giving up on buying minimally changed versions of the same game for years now. And I will not buy a new one until they use a new engine and make some substantial changes. I am more into simracing now anyways, much better than a Codemasters game.
F1 deserve to be a simulation game like assetto corsa competizione, And instead of having new game every year, they cold make 1 base game and every year DLC for new season
*My friend, you have it all wrong. FOM get paid their license fee regardless of sales. EA, however, might drop the franchise if it isn't profitable for them. But FOM are the first to get paid. They don't care one way or the other about the game so long as it isn't embarrassing them. It could go either way.*
My experience with the F1 games. Bought 2010, 2011 saw these are the same with some changes so bought every so often. Then EA bought Codemasters and I said nah. Bought 22 and that was it
.... F2 2024 update just came out... YOU CAN'T DOWNLOAD RIVAL SETUPS IN TT.. THE F2 CAMERA SETTINGS ARE SCREWED.. AND THE OMBOARD AUDIO OF AT LEAST THE FERRARI (OR WHATEVER CAR YOU DRIVD MOST) IS SET TO CYNAMETIC.. EVEN WHEN YOU ALWAYS HAVE IT BROADCAST... Yes i am typing all caps because fuck all.. EA is making me want to scream at this point.. it's CRAZY... I am not even the only one with these issues.. it's since the F2 2024 update..
For me, as someone with limited dexterity and mobility the f1 games require more consistent precision than I can mentally and physically handle 😅 I hit a wall almost every lap or I’m lance stroll levels of slow.
It would actually be cool if beamng took the licence, because even if sponsers dont allow for an insane damage model, the handling and internal damage alone would make it a beautiful experience, it would also be a chance for them to update the aero model and tyre physics
Online gaming is what most people want these days. Racing game drivers enjoy online the most and it's what keeps the game alive for an entire year. The devs haven't done anything for the online community since forever. (Well, they added "Leagues", but we can't use it since we can't add penalties etc.) Just let us drive all the tracks backwards and give us loads of classic tracks, old F1 tracks and possible future F1-tracks.
This isn’t just happening to F1 games, it’s happening across gaming full stop (see Ubisoft and WB games). The economic climate and inflation have played a part but it’s things like: The actual below par game content Putting out umpteen editions of the same game (standard, gold and deluxe) The ridiculous pricing (£79,99 to £129,99 for buggy slop) and community managers who sneer at their own customers when they say the game is rubbish. and the customer is starting to wise up to what these AAA studios have been doing these days and are voting with their wallets.
i just wish F1 2010 was still available on Steam to buy. my all time favourite F1 game, and a steam key for F1 2010 are almost £1000.. R.I.P. would love to see F1 2010 come back on steam
If they end up losing, I hope that the devloper that gets it isn't directly linked to Sony or Microsoft. That could open a way for them to turn the game into a exclusive for their console like in the 2000s when Sony had them.
Having multiple developers taking turns on making a game is definitely not recommended or a good recommendation. I've not heard of a single franchise that pleased their fanbase that way. The only one that's been successful is Call of Duty and they piss off their fans on a much grander scale - but they also cater to a much less niche market. There would either need to be simultaneous game development or - more ideally - a dedicated single developer with maybe smaller side titles that maybe don't have licenses for the teams and drivers but definitely at least can use the generic F1 model vehicle (something like the NFL Blitz games or something of that nature) or maybe even dedicated developers for like F2 or maybe there will be some actual motivation when say a Indycar game comes out.
I think the problem is that F1 24 has been launched too early in fact as a beta, now the game is much better, probably better than F1 23, but it's too late because steam has been already flooded with bad reviews of the "pre-release"
As a controller user, I find these latest games really terrible it's too slow and can't utilize the downforce in the high-speed corners as you can't flick the steering as you have wanted. Whenever I miss playing F1 my go-to games are 2018 and 2020(there's some delay though but not as terrible as the F1 22 and 24)
Don't think it can be underestimated the effect that boring F1 racing irl and the subsequent fade in fans and viewers is having on the entirety of the sport, not just the game itself. It's boring when one team/one guy wins everything all the time, at least with other sports like FIFA there is multiple leagues in every country, not just the premier league
Bought all of them From 09-2022 . 22 was the last one ,I won’t buy again .Handling models and online glitches on launch just got too much . All they had to do was give us the option of historic tracks and I would have been happy . With a decent handling model of course
I feel like the owners of f1 ip wouldn't even care about the game doing well or not. As long as it doesn't cause a controversy that will affect the image of the brand, they wont do anything about it
i think the handling of f1 24 actually feels great now, but i like alot of oversteer, so im probally in the minority there, i do thing the racing is not good against the ai, since i always see massive ers/drs trains forming.
People like me buy this game year in year out to improve!! The issue is it is hard to get into leauge racing...and there is no way you can improve against 110 AI as every race is the same race no matter the circuit and you win with no lessons learnt....They need to release the game with an option of a complete simulation for sim racing fans or an arcade game for the player who just want a bit of fun complete revamp the game and repay us for our loyalty
I have 18 and 20 installed. own from 12-22. 22 where new cars, that we to have in mind, not as bad as most want it to be. but in general I am very dissapointed of lack of improvement. and why I havent bought later than 2022
That would be nice if Rockstar could build the F1 game. What they did with the GTA game was incredible. But yeah, E&A needs to either have open competition or replace for another company. I enjoy the F1 24 game after the handling update as the racing itself is fun, but the bugs that remains after so many years and the lack of improvement in certain areas really hurts their reputation. Also at day 1 of 2024 game was just a clown show because the handling was horrible. I am not sure if their revenue was reduced as you can generate the same ammount of revenue by increasing the game cost and they have been doing this over the last decade. So, number of sales.. yes, decreased but revenue.....
F1 IRL is a super violent experience as the cars have almost no suspension, and yet in all those F1 games the road is silky smooth and the car feels like it just glides above it. This is the single reason I'm not even considering playing it - I've refunded F1 2024 in just 30 minutes after purchase... Modded AC or AMS 2 give miles better immersion than those silly EA games, especially in VR. Just imagine if FIA gave the license to AMS 2 devs.
Imo there should be 2 f1 games: one sim-cade like the current one, and one more simulator, maybe structured like le mans ultimate, I mean, you don't have to buy the game every year but there will be some premium content every season
if they really want a game people want they should have a career that starts you off in karts and you progress through all the lower open wheel series until you get in f1
I’m trying to figure out how you enjoyed a game where you were 10 seconds ahead of competition in 4 laps. Albeit Ai, but it’s the exact reason nobody buys the game. It’s boring doing the same thing over and over and over again. Even with new features. It’s boring. Everything feels scripted. It’s a problem in ALL EA titles. It’s why their games suck. Interesting how the game went down after EA bought it. So I don’t understand why people are confused.

I would only buy a new F1 game every 3 years or so.
Its now EA there is no way they give up the F1 license they will just allow it to rot if it doesnt perform
F1 2020 was amazing. I kept playing until the lobbies were completely empty. Now I'm staying on F1 23 until those die out or if F1 25 blows us away
Let me buy the old games again. Even a collection. F1 decade edition with 2010 up to 2020.
Our league is still on F1 23.
First version since 2015 that I haven't bought yet.
This is how ea has been operating for years with other franchise. As soon as I heard EA was taking over I knew the game would be like this, same game over and over. They are literally taking shit out of the game.
For the first time since F1 2011, I haven‘t bought the new F1 game… I would really love to see a new fresh from the scretch F1 game!
I could say so much about this but nobody would listen anyhow, just like nobody listened when I literally said how people were cheering 3 years ago
2015 is not very relevant because the numbers are boosted by the free sells game on steam - i remember because i grab it in 2018 for free!
F1 2013, 2018, 2020 and 23 are my favourite F1 games (by codemasters) F1 24 is the first codies F1 I haven't bought
I haven't bought one since 2021. That was the year they announced EA was buying Codemasters, and I refuse to buy anything from EA on principle.
When ea took over there were so many jokes on reddit about how this was bad news.
Years later and everyone was right.
Reiza studios should get the license and money then we will get a banger game
Hand it back to either Sumo Digital or Liverpool Studio
I wouldn't mind if the iRacing guys took a crack at the F1 license. The W12 and W13 are both an insane amount of fun in sim
Pretty sure they're mods.
@@arkangelgaming35 that's ac, iracing has them officially
@@arkangelgaming35 wrong
i hope F1 25 is the last for EA
I bought F1 22 because i was excited about the new car. I instantly saw EA's influence, and it turned me off. Never bought an F1 game after that.
You are completely 100% right and I agree with everything you said.
Pretty sad how f1 2015 hurt the later games so much.
@@nossy232323 The only note is that Codemasters STOPPED making F1 games since the day the deal with EA was announced.
F1 deserve to be a simulation game like assetto corsa competizione, And instead of having new game every year, they cold make 1 base game and every year DLC for new season
They needed to add a proper simulation handling option, better damage models, tyre models, car models and better sound!
*My friend, you have it all wrong. FOM get paid their license fee regardless of sales. EA, however, might drop the franchise if it isn't profitable for them. But FOM are the first to get paid. They don't care one way or the other about the game so long as it isn't embarrassing them. It could go either way.*
Don’t forget that F1 2024 is available on Xbox pass, so won’t show as sales
I actually prefer the F1 2024 Manager game atm to be honest
it's really peculiar how the timelines match up between EA taking over and the game declining in sales and quality.🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
My experience with the F1 games. Bought 2010, 2011 saw these are the same with some changes so bought every so often. Then EA bought Codemasters and I said nah. Bought 22 and that was it
Kyloton needs that license their rally games were excellent they'll make a nice grippy good sounding car
Add the classic cars back along with the championship modes
From the outside looking in, the game has just looked reskinned since F1 2021
It's not Codemasters, it's EA now
This is exactly the same problem as with Madden…
What about NHL, EA FC (FIFA)?
For me, as someone with limited dexterity and mobility the f1 games require more consistent precision than I can mentally and physically handle 😅 I hit a wall almost every lap or I’m lance stroll levels of slow.
My wheel broke and I was in no rush to replace it because the games are shite.
It would actually be cool if beamng took the licence, because even if sponsers dont allow for an insane damage model, the handling and internal damage alone would make it a beautiful experience, it would also be a chance for them to update the aero model and tyre physics
2020 really good. I noticed more power from engine than battery along with everything else. Yet to try older games.
The economic climate and inflation have played a part but it’s things like:
The actual below par game content
Putting out umpteen editions of the same game (standard, gold and deluxe)
The ridiculous pricing (£79,99 to £129,99 for buggy slop)
and community managers who sneer at their own customers when they say the game is rubbish.
and the customer is starting to wise up to what these AAA studios have been doing these days and are voting with their wallets.
i just wish F1 2010 was still available on Steam to buy. my all time favourite F1 game, and a steam key for F1 2010 are almost £1000.. R.I.P. would love to see F1 2010 come back on steam
There would either need to be simultaneous game development or - more ideally - a dedicated single developer with maybe smaller side titles that maybe don't have licenses for the teams and drivers but definitely at least can use the generic F1 model vehicle (something like the NFL Blitz games or something of that nature) or maybe even dedicated developers for like F2 or maybe there will be some actual motivation when say a Indycar game comes out.
these connecting to server thing pisses me off
I think the problem is that F1 24 has been launched too early in fact as a beta, now the game is much better, probably better than F1 23, but it's too late because steam has been already flooded with bad reviews of the "pre-release"
As a controller user, I find these latest games really terrible it's too slow and can't utilize the downforce in the high-speed corners as you can't flick the steering as you have wanted. Whenever I miss playing F1 my go-to games are 2018 and 2020(there's some delay though but not as terrible as the F1 22 and 24)
EA is a bigger problem than Codemasters.
Bought all of them
From 09-2022 . 22 was the last one ,I won’t buy again .Handling models and online glitches on launch just got too much . All they had to do was give us the option of historic tracks and I would have been happy . With a decent handling model of course
Its EA his fault not Codemasters..
Its a shame. EA got their hands on it and drove it into the ground.
