    Tips:
    1) Use salicylic acid wash
2)Zinc supplement or probiotic and maybe supplement with antioxidants
    3) Take it back to basics:
    a.m.: Cleanser, antioxidant serum, sunscreen
p.m: Cleanser, moisturiser and possibly retinol
    4)Eat the rainbow
    5)Avoid dairy
    6) Apply a retinoid- retinol or retin-A/tretinoin or Differin or an antibiotic- Minocycline

I struggled with acne for years, turns out it was triggered by not only dairy, but gluten, soy, and caffeine as well. Given my experience I feel people really underestimate how much acne, especially adult acne, is triggered by diet. And what those triggers are varies completely with each individual. Some people do better vegan or cutting dairy; mine didn’t clear up until I reintroduced meat after being a life long vegetarian. Each person has to figure it out their triggers for themselves. In my case it took several months after eliminating my triggers for my skin to clear, and when I slip up it takes about a month for my skin to recover.
On the plus side my fine lines I getting now that I’m almost 40 don’t bother me because my skin still looks better than it ever has, lol.

    • @prairie8356
      @prairie8356 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@Jess-737 dietary triggers are more likely due to undiagnosed food intolerances, not because someone is eating a poor diet. And that’s only one type of acne, obviously there are others. I don’t think it’s “victim blaming” to point out that some people with acne may have undiagnosed medical conditions. It’s not their fault. Our medical system likes so much to go for the easy fix, and often those of us with food intolerances have to figure these things out for ourselves which can be incredibly difficult.
And there are research papers that show a link between some types of acne and diet. More research obviously is needed.

    - Gentle Mild Face cleanser
    - Salicylic acid and silver serum

I’m super glad you mentioned retinoids! They work great for stubborn/holistic treatment-resistant cases of acne, and have helped me with my struggles with it in high school. They’re a bit pricy though, so it’s a good call to let that be a latter line of defense or in the case of extreme cystic acne. Also good call on mentioning adapalene (Differin) I remember when it was prescription only back when it was used in a dual formulation benzoyl peroxide, as Epiduo. I remember when it finally became OTC, I was just waiting for it to blow up - and wouldn’t you know it - it eventually won beauty product of the year (can’t remember where it won that but it was touted as such on Differin’s packaging.)

She also uses a few Ren Skincare products, but nothing has shown to be as effective as the internal additions. Thankfully, she also loves kimchi and hasn't done A1 dairy for years. We stick to small amounts of A2 like goat cheese or aged sheep's milk cheese.

I cut off dairy (more specifically lactose) many years ago after I realized it wasn’t agreeing with my stomach. I definitely noticed a reduction in inflammation and acne on my face. But my face still wasn’t clear, I had to turn to tretinoin and so far, my skin has been really clear. It hasn’t been this clear since middle school! A combo of holistic and sometimes prescription treatments is so key to reaching clear skin.

I had really bad acne as a teen and young adult that led to keloids. Seen many doctors during those age. None of them really helped. Now, I have the "funds" to wipe it all away as I'm much more financially secure. But I chose to not do anything about my scars. At the end of the day, your scars show who you are and what you've been through. So I hope you don't let others put you down. Though you may have skin challenges, it doesn't change the great and good person you are inside. That's what people will see once you get a lot older. They will appreciate you for you. As a teen and young adult, it's quite challenging because social media makes it hard. Strategist that market what the beauty standard should be make it worst. Be a good person, do the right things, have a big heart, work hard, and you'll have the abundance things you've never thought you'd have. And when that day comes, yes. You can take those physical scars away. But I bet you won't even notice it anymore because your confidence has changed and the way people will talk to you will change because you're leading the way that you don't need the perfect skin to feel secure.

The biggest issue for me is pushing past that 4-6 week purging period when the skin goes absolutely batshit crazy before it clears up, I always end up quitting around 2-3 weeks in because I can’t stand the purge breakouts! Been dealing with 🧬 genetic cystic acne since I was 14, I’m 33 now and I’m ready for it to be over with finally! I struggled with acne so much to the point, I didn’t want to leave the house. My whole life I’ve been told it’ll clear with age but it was only getting worse every year (F26). It reached a boiling point for me last march and I decided my only goal for the year was clearing my skin. I did mass elimination diets. Found that dairy was causing a proportionate amount of my acne, found out I was also celiac and have a hormone imbalance! I now take probiotics and a supplement from the anti acne club. My skin is a world apart less than a year later. Still little issues, but now we’re just working out what other things I’m allergic too. I’ve never bought into topical treatments for something that I believe is an internal issue. Of course topical treatments are very effective but can’t treat the root. I used a topical antibiotic and retinol to help accelerate the healing process and to clear some of my scarring.

Sir, it will be a blessing if you make a video or share the knowledge of what products/things a lactating or pregnant woman should avoid?
As layman we are too confused specially with the new serums & acids?

I'll have to try a few of these when mine gets bad again!
I also struggle with psoriasis, could you also please make a video with holistic ways to treat it? I feel like I've tried so many things only for them to quit working after a while :(

Anyone have acne after finishing having babies?? My skin glowed during years of pregnancy and breastfeeding, and afterwards it looked like teen acne again! I finally saw an awesome dermatologist on the recommendation of my primary and things are improving.

I found that mandellic acid works similarly to Tretinoin, and I actually like it better also it’s cheaper, my Derm said it does the same thing

I don’t have acne my whole life until I hit mid 20s. I realized it was actually hormonal acne. I ate less carbs, sweets and dairy, exercised regularly and boom! I don’t have new pimples anymore. Acne is sometimes a symptom of something “off” inside your body.

I’ve had acne for around ten years and it’s so frustrating :-( I was diagnosed with PCOS and took accutane for over three years. I got depression and my acne still came back. I took spironolactone and birth control for years, my labs seem okay rn, but after stopping the BC I’ve flared up a bit, even if I stopped consuming dairy (used to eat ice cream like 4 times a week). Gotta look into the other options dr. Youn is suggesting, but I understand people who feel defeated. I kinda do too…acne really messes up with your head.

How long have you had acne after stopping bc? It can take up to 9 months I heard for everything to regulate again. It took me almost 7 months for me to stop having bad acne flare ups after stopping. I do understand that PCOS can be a cause for that though, my cousin has it.

I took Accutane when I was 14, and for 10 years I had no acne. It was amazing! lol But recently, I've been getting my nodular acne back. Just a little bit, but still.

Thanks for the video. Wish I could have seen this back when my adult onset acne came on, would have avoided these scars. And I wish there were a cheese substitute that was good, then I could get my daughter off dairy. It's really helped my rosacea to ditch the dairy, I do miss cheese though.

Thanks...at 61, I get acne, but had clear skin as a teen. I will try zinc and antioxidants. How about addressing blackheads on eyelids? Maybe my eye serum? The retinol dries out my skin and makes it flaky. And how about dark hair growth on upper lip and chin for post menopausal women?

  • @karatemaster8674

Yup ..if your a teenager ..try try try not to pop your pimples ..you can end up with scars ..if its a bad pimple just leave it ..pop it if its a custard ..but dont go mental that's how you get the blemishes

Accutane at 16 & now infrequently using Retin-A Micro cream in my 30s has cured my cystic acne. Not sure if every dermatologist hates me for finding this one simple trick for my acne or not yet.
