Then I watched your video and said thank you, you awesome person. I truly appreciate you and your time. You saved me time and money. From my family to yours, Thank you.
Steam - Makes perfect sense! Just spent an HOUR cleaning for the first time, so tedious, and it was a royal pain to get the kettle back on the hooks! I was dreading cleaning next time, now I am actually looking forward to it so I can steam clean!!!
This worked great! Mine needed a little bit more scrubbing so I added a new Scotch Brite pad to mine and that spin and then I added paper towels. Looks like new!
Looks like a great way to do basic maintenance, but there was a bunch of gunk left on the agitator that can only be cleaned by taking the kettle off. I will definitely do this as a means to keep it cleaner, but I still think a good disassemble is needed a couple times a year
Actually, the steam loosens up all of that gunk and off camera, you can get to all of it, which I did off camera. Videoing is time sensitive and seconds count. I haven’t opened my kettle in years. Most people have the issue of the heavy build up on the hot part of the kettle. If the steam gets that off, it loosens up everything else.
Looks great! I wonder about a couple of minor things: First, why wait until the kettle is hot to add the water? This strikes me as an unnecessary temperature shock to the kettle - why not add the water first, and then turn on the heat until it boils? Also, your method seems great for regular cleaning but have you looked at the bottom of the rim of your kettle, where the inner and outer bowl meet? I have a very similar kettle from an 8oz. machine and the underside of that lip gets quite caked with gunk. Once in a while I pull the kettle and even remove the gasket between the inner and outer bowl and clean it all up.
Great point with no chemicals. Although you could use a food safe sanitizer spray. Personally, it's much faster to take out the kettle and use a scrubby pad. Remove the lid and do a quick soap soak while I'm wiping down the case. Then I dry, reassemble, and I'm done. 5 min.

This is similar to how I clean my popcorn machine except I unplug the machine after it heats up. Before that I boil a kettle of water pour it in a bowl and mix in some vinegar. I put the hot bowl of water inside the popcorn machine that’s unplugged. I soak some paper towels in the hot bowl of vinegar and water and squeeze out most water. I place those towels in the kettle. Shut door. Place towels over the machine to keep as much steam inside the machine as possible. If needed you could use clear packing tape around the towel to keep steam from escapinging. After 5 minutes, I remove the towels and the bowl of water. I add Dawn or other degreaser dish detergent to the bowl, stir and use paper towels to wipe down the inside of the machine. To clean kettle, wipe it out with the hot paper towels inside the kettle that have absorbed a lot of the grease and grim. Use some fresh paper towels dipped in the bowl to wash down the inside of the machine. Dry the machine and kettle with paper towel. Repeat this process and you should have a clean popcorn machine. I had an issue with mine. All the steam dripped down, and got under the heating pad to the circuit, not only did it ruin the system but all the water came out on the right side and made a huge mess😢 any solutions, what did i do wrong?
How much water did you put into the unit? Remember, when you pop the popcorn there’s a lot of steam naturally. You might have way overfilled your kettle. You maybe need a cup depending on your kettle size. Sorry to hear that happened.
Ahhh, I like to keep it natural in that bowl since it's hard to rinse. I bet it does work, but the first batch after you use the soap might taste a bit soapy, lol.
Looks like the kettle cord is getting caught and pinched right behind the pivot point on the hanger bracket where the dump stop arm can can pinch the wire.
Just cleaned mine like this, bought it from a family selling all their things for their new job in New York. I bought half their furniture and they threw this machine in for free. My college aged daughters face lit up, always inviting her friends over for movie night or poker night.
@Today I Work On I have a similar issue, where the stir bar gets continually stuck on partially popped kernels, and stops going around resulting in a horrid sound and burned popcorn. Have you ever had this issue?
@@michelesmith3840 I bet it's your spring that holds the stir bar down, it might be broken. That's the only reason I can see why something like that could happen. Please take a peek and let me know!
@@TodayIWorkOn I checked the spring and it's in place and seems to work fine. HOWEVER, after closer exam of the stir bar mechanics and some playing around, I noticed that the gear/cog coming from the 'ceiling' of the popcorn maker is randomly stalling and what's stopping. This is the gear/cog that intersects with (and turns) the gear/cog from the kettle - which is turns the stir bar inside the kettle. Sooooooo, if I have the "stir" feature on, I can see & hear when that top cog stops turning. Then, if I tip the kettle forward to disengage the two cogs, usually the ceiling one will start turning again. Any ideas on a fix, please let me know. Perhaps another customer will see this and have some insight.

Dawn dishsoap is safe to use on the kettles.. Boil water and a little dish soap. Dump it into a bowl. dry it off. Done!
Ahhh, I like to keep it natural in that bowl since it's hard to rinse. I bet it does work, but the first batch after you use the soap might taste a bit soapy, lol.
@@TodayIWorkOn yea. Just rinse it out! But this is awesome though.
Looks like the kettle cord is getting caught and pinched right behind the pivot point on the hanger bracket where the dump stop arm can can pinch the wire.
I’ll look at that. Thanks!
Just cleaned mine like this, bought it from a family selling all their things for their new job in New York. I bought half their furniture and they threw this machine in for free. My college aged daughters face lit up, always inviting her friends over for movie night or poker night.
It’s truly a great investment. Our kids always look forward to movie Friday with popcorn. It’s also really cheap snack food. 😀
will this unit do Mushroom popcorn?
Not sure, time to do a yt search, lol
Hey guy my popcorn gets stuck in the kettle and i have to dig it out
Any ideas
Check your metal covers. They should be open freely. Or, you might not be using the proper mix of oil and popcorn. Good luck with your issue!
@@michelesmith3840 you might have stripped cog gears. How old is the machine. The gears might have stripped out.
Thanks for the video works amazing
Glad to help!
Does anyone know why when I shut of agitator it keeps going after I shut switch off.. bad switch, loose. Have to unplug it
How do you get the gunk off the top though
Top of?
Do you need to clean it every time you use it?
I wipe down the machine every time I use it. I clean the Kettle every 10 uses. We use it once a week. I do stuff some paper towels with the heater off to clean out the old residue/popcorn here and there between the steam clean.
Thank you so much👍
