  • We have learned to believe that rationality is what should always prevail when making decisions. But what about that "inner voice", that gut feeling, that little something instinctive from within that tells us how we feel beneath those layers of logic? What about intuition?

I don't see it as a struggle, many non-natives English speaking people have so much cultural depth in expressions, sometimes they have to, in a real time, find a way to best expressing it in a target language....usually, from my experience, it often involves degrading the concept to fit the language.

Intuition is not only emotional but wisdom of the self, some people think is equal to instint but this refers to basic needs. Intuition like Jung says comes from deeper levels of the mind. Only who explores it can find the treasure hidden below.

Logically, intuition is knowledge preserved in the subconscious (and it's only my saying so don't mind if I'm incorrect. Feel free to drop any comments :)) When you learn something or see, for like a tree, you develop your senses from the object : color, size , and shape, smell of the object are stored in your brain. Other information may include what type of tree it 'feels' like. (Note I say 'feels' and not 'looks' because 'looks' is only visual and 'feels' include all the senses in your body). Eventually, your subconscious uses this knowledge to feed you when you require it.

  • @noratruscello7071

Well stated. Intuition is a natural process we all possess, like seeing. It's a normal way of acquiring information, which simply isn't exercised fully anymore. We needed to trust and rely on intuition for survival when we were hunter gatherers and later farmers. But with the onset of modern technicality, the use of intuition isn’t necessary for survival as it once was.
But that’s not to say it’s useless, just the opposite. One can exponential increase their intuition with simple exercises and applying natural steps. We can rely on intuition now to find a good dentist, decide if it’s a good time to ask for a raise, purchase a house or even about relationships.
Intuition is an under used forgotten awesome resource waiting to be picked up, dusted off and put back to work

There’s nothing like knowing and not knowing something is up at the same time. It creates a block to everything and anything you try doing. There definitely can be something to it but unfortunately, when people know you’re dealing with something, they’ll exploit that even more making it harder to get rid of or even deal with the problem. At least in my life. Intuition is definitely pattern based, most every time. It’s not “magical” by any means, it’s a lot about common sense and energy. Our brains really do automatically look for connections between things we may have experienced before and what we’re experiencing now. It’s like being able to sense someone standing behind you, you can feel it and sense it because you’ve experienced that before many times. When you’ve been through a lot you might as well have eyes in the back of your head. You just have to navigate the difference between a trauma response and what’s really happening.

Uhm, I'm not so sure a person's emotional response is a good way to choose an employee. I wouldn't call a judgement of personal value the same as pattern recognition or imagination, thus intuition. I hear quite a few cognitive biases being elevated above reason in this talk. Yes, new ideas come from intuition, but the vast majority are bad ideas. It's just a matter of being brave enough to try out new ideas, anyway. Ideas MUST be subjected to reason to weed out the bad ones while they are still abstractions.
...and what about having a single definition for intuition? I heard value judgements, sensory input, and even memory labeled as intuition. Intuition is just imagining connections between things. You still need either a logical judgment or a value judgement to determine if those connections really exist.

One has to go back a bit in time and revive Henri Bergson and Carl Jung (who incidentally were contemporaries) to know the fundamental definition of intuition. There's a lot of muddy water around the term, and it has been woefully reduced to mean or indicate only paranormal phenomena.

Intuition must be distinguished as to its source, it is a moment of inspiration or flash of knowing that lingers or comes and goes , it is simply the inner voice of the spirit of God, he speaks to improve the lives of humans, to relieve suffering to guide, it is his intervention in our lives, it is the greatest achievement a human being can achieve in his spiritual development, to come to a place of total faith in his spiritual intuition, it can take someone from poverty to wealth from sickness to health etc. There is more to us as humans than than the intellect, the spiritual is the greatest challenge of the human race.

Not sure the example of moving to Australia has anything to do with intuition. Intuition is relevant in a known environment, for instance your job, your sport, your art. That's when you can use your intuition, to find the solution to your problem, then analysing your solution consciously to check if it can work, before taking action. The case of Australia is too wide and uncertain for the intuition. She was simply commited, courageous and lucky, and that's why it worked... That's another example of using specific and scientific concepts to justify a decision. Probably, someone will decide to quit his job, his family or take a big decision after finding this talk, thinking that his intuition can't be wrong. But that's not intuition. That's just you, who's fed up about the stuff you want change and try to scientifically justify your decision. There is no magic in this world, just be honest with yourself.

~what about awakened intuition where you are aligned in every place you should be and all the doors open for you and you just follow through~how does this happen?~ you say~you have let go of a life that does not serve you externally but internally you gave your trust to a higher being in every endeavor you now encounter~this trust has brought you to balancing and harmony~from your "gut" feeling you have opened that chakra in like a magnet that not only draws you to everything that knows of you and brought you here from before your birth but also whatever is external is left at bay for your allowance to move into wherever you go as said magnet~you have become the WUJI in the TAO* or middle way from yin and yang~your vehicle is being moved by that to qwhich sits within you that knows of you as it brought you here in the first place~
~I had a dream once as I was slowly becoming awakened back in January 1985 and in the dream I was in a restaurant with my mom. sister and a woman I use to work with and noted everyone in the restaurant had a beautiful golden veil over them~I noticed that it was the light that was being prevented to entering them as possibly that was the shell of their ego as they maintained the shell then ever allowing the light to enter and receive Divine Consciousness~but as I sat there it seen as mine was being lifted as it got eye level I exclaimed~"I know the reason why we have coincidences!!!!"~this blew my mind and I woke up~the only thing I can "think" of why it was happening to me was my ego seemed to have given up and was time for me to enter the realm of the Divine~all the long with this a wakening happening to me all things were already aligned for me as I moved about through wherever I was going~if I needed something it was already placed for me to have~I exclaimed again to myself in silence that this is suppose to be how we are to live~it seems we have been here before and we have placed everything to our disposal from previous~but because when we come into this world we lost that essence through conditioning of parents, peers and society and followed their ways instead of our SOUL*~
~the sole purpose now that I seek which all the long is here is to find that origin of my SOUL* that made of me and enter in dissolving of what is of the world to be within the world which goes beyond intuition all together~as this is my own rendition of being "born again" as you are not a physical being carrying that SOUL* within you but have shed that ego as being a physical being and becoming the SOUL* you have always been and the path you are taking has never left right where you are~that origin you have sought is the first cell into consciousness made by the SOUL* in this case as the heart moves us all but never moves beyond where it is which is here and has electromagnetic impulses that attract those essences into now that Spiritual life as the burden has now been gone of being of the world but now being within the world~in Buddhism it is a dharma that one puts on hold to see heaven but instead to not talk about the path to attain but to show how one gets there without words~
~I can go on and on about this but this has made me so excited for the past 45 years as twice this has happened to me in a portal that the Divine has shown me and it was not until 14 years ago that during a tough period of nearly 22 years of struggle that I seen the movie the Secret as it changed my life forever in being on this journey within~
~the world outside of ourselves is false and many subject themselves to living and following it and the more you dig into it the more suppressed you become in learning that instead of who you already are~

Maybe think of it as two worlds colliding. One is always on a Collision course, with the narcissist. They never change in their irrational attitudes/behaviours. They’re like thieves who syphon petrol from other people’s cars. Narcissists drain your energy/intellect so they can feel emotionally better. This is how they temporarily stabilise themselves at the expense of other’s well-being. No empathy. No compassion. They are masters at reading other people’s emotions. Which gives them an upper hand in relationships.

Siempre había pensado que sólo los animales intuían, mientras que los seres humanos teníamos la tendencia a desarrollar el pensamiento. Pero bueno, al parecer estoy equivocado.

USING YOUR intuition to Trust people....BIG MISTAKE. When you run into a narcissistic psychopath, he'll siff you like wheat.

I think you have that back to front. It is your intuition that warns you all is not as it appears when the person's words and presentation seem to hit all the right notes. At least that is the way it works for me.

You have an underdeveloped intuition. Trust no one but yourself.

Firstly why do you trust people? Your family it's ok at least 98% but come on everyone knows you can't trust people even your best friend

Wolfcat and Wendigo it's because of the sound mixer. The mic picks up those noises and the sound mixer is not properly tuned to cancel out those noises.
