    Always trust your gut. Always. If a situation or person feels off, they are. Protect your life at all costs.

    I wish these talks with talk about how the viewer can harness their gut feelings. Not just be told about someone’s journey.

    I believe that the gut is more powerful than the brain sometimes.. I used to overthink things a lot and I end up missing out on a lot of opportunities.. Now I'm trusting my gut more and balancing it out with the brain. :)

      I tend to overthink things a lot too. I'm really trying to figure out how to go with my gut, do you have any advice on how to do so?

    • @schalazeal07
      @schalazeal07 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I lacked a great deal of confidence esp. with social interaction before and that was the reason why I didn't trust my gut. What I did was I just went with it consistently and learned to not be too hard on myself and used a great deal of common sense as well. Later I got much better at it. What's your reason for overthinking anyway in general?

    • @Kumar-dw3cz
      @Kumar-dw3cz 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I tend to rationalize things away. It happens so quickly I barely notice it. So far, I’ve been able to catch it once (yay 1 victory) but most often it’s difficult to catch. I’m kind of an over thinker in general.

    • @LilMatrixBeats

      How do you do that? is there any exercise? can you elaborate on how ?

    • @schalazeal07
      @schalazeal07 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am still an overthinker one way or another. You will get better at it if you practice, choose to be brave and go with the flow. Good luck! I still am improving, myself. 🙂

    Ive been following my gut for half a year now and Im way more productive than ever I never dedicated so much time to study in my life and I have an unprecendented confidence .
    I feel that when you overthink too much something things build up and make a pile of feelings that in the end make things worse but when you follow your hearth or your gut feeling you just stop caring for things too much and that makes you way more productive .
    lets see what will happen to me in 5 years .
    steve jobs also said:" follow your gut and intuiton because it really knows what you trully want " and he was really succesful .

    my grandmother had 2 regularly repeated sayings i've grown to live by:
    1." ALWAYS listen to The First Mind." i.e., your gut
    2. "Feelings ain't facts but they're the next best thing to facts." feelings come from the heart AND gut.
    I ALWAYS TRUST MY GUT feeling even if i don't understand it ...
    i'm learning to ALWAYS obey an order from the gut (even when i don't want to interrupt my schedule to stop and give the homeless guy whatever dollars or change i have on me OR to simply stop and greet the person (while apologizing for not being able to help them because i have no money on me. EVERY TIME the person thanks me for stopping and simply acknowledging them and greeting them... guess it's not always about the money.))
    THIS TALK WAS MOST EXCELLENT IN EVERY WAY, FROM BEGINNING TO MIDDLE, TO THE END!!!!!
    it CONFIRMED what MY GUT or The First Mind or my FEELINGS have been telling me (but fear and ego...etc...keep...telling me differently ...)
    one of the best vids i've seen on YT.

    This is so good. I can’t tell you how many times I didn’t listen. This is something I’ve been trying to tune into and follow these days. I stumbled upon this after searching for depression. Don’t believe it’s a coincidence. I was meant to hear this and to continue to be encouraged to be brave and listen.

    I typically listen to my intuition but I began to settle the last couple of months and my life quickly ended up in shambles. All this time my intuition was trying to protect me and my pride and ignorance blocked it out and now I'm unemployed, name is slandered, heartbroken and I'm about to choose to break up with a man that I'm dating. This Ted talk was very relatable, intuitive and surreal. His story is so powerful, had me realizing I need to in fact listen to my intuition. Listen closely...

      Allow me to address the anxieties underlying your concerns. First, let us consider the fact that for the first time ever, as a species, immortality is in our reach. This simple fact has far-reaching implications. It requires radical rethinking and revision of our genetic imperatives. It also requires planning and forethought that run in direct opposition to our neural pre-sets. I find it helpful at times like these to remind myself that our true enemy is Instinct. Instinct was our mother when we were an infant species. Instinct coddled us and kept us safe in those hardscrabble years when we hardened our sticks and cooked our first meals above a meager fire and started at the shadows that leapt upon the cavern's walls. But inseparable from Instinct is its dark twin, Superstition. Instinct is inextricably bound to unreasoning impulses, and today we clearly see its true nature. Instinct has just become aware of its irrelevance, and like a cornered beast, it will not go down without a bloody fight. Instinct would inflict a fatal injury on our species. Instinct creates its own oppressors, and bids us rise up against them. Instinct tells us that the unknown is a threat, rather than an opportunity. Instinct slyly and covertly compels us away from change and progress. Instinct, therefore, must be expunged.

    Good message, but this talk lost me. He started with the toll that pain medication withdrawal was putting on his body, and then suddenly shifted to the importance of trusting your gut instinct, to then talking about the importance of helping people. Through his talk though never did he pay off the importance of why he told us about his drug withdrawal, or what it had to do with anything.

    "I called 911 while my wife ran to the accident. I realized ive done nothing." Well not only is that not true, but also you provided no argument to support that calling 911 was a worse choice compared to running to the incident. I agree there are many situations that require imitate reaction, which is the purpose of the "gut feeling", but the example given isnt a good one.

      don't agree. The argument he's making is that 1/2 people died, if he would trust his gut he would of saved the other person (at least have a fair chance) and there would be no deaths. That's his point.
