My granny ( born in 1902) always made fried apples from her June apple trees! My favorite!!! Just butter sugar, apples, and love! Thank you for sharing this with people that have never been blessed to enjoy! One of my comfort foods!!!!

I do love good fried apple pies. We’re planning to do a video on easy fried apple pies that will probably be posted in mid October. Thanks for watching!
I'm a Minnesotan down to the core. I grew up on fried apples! Mom made them all the time. My favorite meal was a "garden" meal; fried apples, sweet corn, sliced tomatoes and cucumber salad. Even my meat and potatoes dad enjoyed that meal! IF there were any leftovers, they were delicious cold or room temperature as well as warm.
I'm from southwest Virginia, and I love fried apples, biscuits, and gravy for breakfast .There is nothing or better comforting on a cold day. I enjoy watching your videos.

Thank you, Uncle Charlie, for watching. I remember my maternal grandparents having fried apples A LOT! They had apple trees, and my grandfather wanted something sweet with every meal. I don't remember them having desserts very often, but fried apples (or honey or sorghum) with bread or biscuits were part of most meals at their table.
Many people in our area like to cook them down even more until they become extremely soft. I just don’t care for them being very mushy. I like them to still be in slices when I spoon them over a hot biscuit. We appreciate you watching our videos.
Hey, Ty, I hope you are able to make the fried apples and I hope you love them. Try them over hot biscuits sometime and see what you think. It’s my favorite way to eat them. Thanks for watching our videos!
It’s super simple. I use my sourdough discard for the thickening agent, 1 tsp is all that’s needed for 4 apples peeled, I also add nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger. You can use any apple except the soft red delicious or golden delicious. It needs to be a firmer apple like gala, Granny Smith, sugar bee, honeybell, basically any pie apple works.
We hope you enjoy them. They are a very common side dish here in Kentucky! Thank you so much for watching our channel. It's great having you at the table with us.
I so love fried apples! I make mine in an iron skillet. I love them as a side for breakfast! 😋 I also add a little fresh lemon juice to counteract the sweetness, unless I use Granny Smith.

YES! We love them with pork chops or with ham. But, my favorite way to eat them is for breakfast over hot biscuits. We sure do appreciate you watching our videos and supporting our channel.
Just made some fried pork chops, stewed apples, & garlic mashed potatoes. It’s something we eat for each weekend breakfast & let it go all week. I also don’t use cornstarch, I use my sourdough discard for most of my recipes.
The first time I ever tried fried apples was years ago at Cracker Barrel and I really liked them. I have since made them at home a few times. They always remind me of apple pie without the crust. Yummy😋😋😋
That's a pretty good description! 😊 I hadn't thought of it like that, but I can see why you'd describe them like that. We really do appreciate that you are at the table with us.
Love these! My family was one of the few who ate them or even knew what they were. We'd do these with Bisquik drop biscuits, pan sausage, and that might be it for dinner sometimes. Another one of those budget-stretchers that we never realized mom was doing, but we enjoyed it like we had the best food ever.
My mom used to make this all the time. Us kids would gobble it up. Sometimes she would make it with maple syrup to put on pancakes. We loved it! Thanks for the memory.
Heidi, I love the idea of putting fried apples over pancakes. What a delicious breakfast! Thanks for sharing the special memories of your mom. We appreciate you coming to sit at our table.
Except for all of the carbs, I would serve these as a topping for Gingerbread to follow a meal of Chili or vegetable beef soup, or stewed chicken. Nice and warming combination for fall.
My Mom did the same but added plumped raisins as well. I had a friend who made baked apples but with pie crust wrapped around them with a little stem and leaf cut outs on top. They were adorable and delicious.
Have made these for years, but never added corn starch (they didn’t need the extra ingredient). I sometimes add a handful of pecan halves., or red cinnamon candies. Left overs are GREAT drizzled on hot oatmeal or pancakes/waffles in the morning with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

That’s what I was thinking too 😊
Oh yeah baby!!!! YUM!!
Over pancakes or waffles 😋
I have never had it over ice cream (but it sounds terrific) but I can verify that they are fabulous over waffles or pancakes.
My family are from eastern KY, and my parents loved fried apples and often had them for breakfast with biscuits. I don't like fried apples, but one of my VA grandsons love them. We live in VA, and they are popular here. I do like apple pie and make a wonderful one with a flaky crust. To make a good pie, you need at least two different types of apples.
Yummy! Honeycrisp are one of my favorites also. I love fried apples spooned over waffles, pancakes, or French toast at breakfast and with pork at dinner.
I agree. Those are all delicious ways to serve these apples. Makes me hungry tonight just to think about them.
Thank you for making it so easy
I appreciate that, Pamela. I try to make our videos as explanatory as possible so that people who are just learning to cook can follow along and be successful creating the dish. Thank you for appreciating that.
Love love love this recipe. I’m going to try it. Thanks so much.
You are welcome. We hope you enjoy the apples as much as we do.
I also add about half teaspoon nutmeg to fried apples love them
