    Love the innovation of this tripod but one thing I can't get over is the rotating center column. Makes going from binos, lowering the center column, to a spotter a guessing game. I reached out to tricer and they said they'll have a non rotating center column this next year. That'll be a big upgrade in my opinion.

    OMGoodness… I just got the Tricer tripod and love it. At the same time I purchased several others from cheap to expensive. Most are recommended by others. The sound deadening, weight, stability, adjustments, and more make it ideal. I returned about a dozen or more while reviewing them. I am writing up a review and will find a place to post later. Hopefully it will help others when they are in the market.

    You’ve probably heard of the Aziak backcountry lite tripod by now. If you get your hands on it and do a comparison I’d be interested to hear your thoughts? Also, I have the Wiser pan head and the tricer head, I prefer the wiser, but the tricer is a really great option if you’re trying to save money.

    Nice review. Seems like the only one that might compare is the Revic Backpacker. Revic is a few ounces heavier and it doesn't come with a handle. It's a ball head. It goes up to 50" tall, doesn't have the reverse legs and it's a little cheaper. I have the Revic Stabilizer and it's rock solid. The ball head can be a pain to keep on a moving animal. It's a little finicky especially compared to a handle.

    Great video. I remember Ryan Lampers talking about how he has an adaptor to mount his weatherby rifle to the tripod. Is it one adapter for rifle, binos, and spotter? Or more than one? Thanks!

    Given that you have to widen the stance of the legs do you find that the BC tripod is tall enough when you’re glassing down from a steep hill?

    I’m reconsidering my “standing” height tripod. I wanted a light carbon fiber setup that would allow me to mount my rifle on it and shoot from it, if needed. I like the idea of 40” height and lower.

    • @tymccullough4796
      @tymccullough4796 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Honestly, no need for a standing tripod unless You're next to the truck. And then weight doesn't matter.

    how do you think this tripod would do as a shooting platform for hunting rifle?

    • @GrittyGearAndPodcast
      @GrittyGearAndPodcast  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It would work great. Pair it with their GC Gun Clamp and you have a great light weight hunting setup. If you are a PRS shooter, it probably isn't the best setup.

    But have you guys ran the wiser pan head? I've heard the quality of the wiser pan head is better. What are your thoughts on that one?

    • @GrittyGearAndPodcast
      @GrittyGearAndPodcast  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I have not used the Wiser on a hunt. But from what I’ve heard and the little time I’ve toyed with it, I think the difference between the Wiser and the Tricer is imperceptible-it’s splitting hairs. These pan heads are tools that have a minor learning curve. Once you get good at using the Tricer and good at using the Wiser, I don’t think you’d notice much difference. That said, we only have extended experience with the Tricer and it’s legit. Some like the longer handle on the Wiser, but we like the shorter handle. I think the difference between them is very minor. Great question. Wish I had more first hand experience to answer your question with more authority.

      @Rugged_Peaks_Media 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @BrianCallGritty thanks for the reply. I've been on the fence between the 2 and which one I should get. I run a big leupold spotter and 24-105mm lens on my canon and can't quite make the film decision it will outperform my va-5 fluid head but I'd like to cut the weight down on my setup due to flying here in Alaska. Weight is limited and the more I can cut the better.

    • @tsnellyville
      @tsnellyville 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I went with the wiser because of the review that @mindfulhunter did on Tricer vs Wiser. The outcome was that they are both great, but the wiser slightly outperformed, but at a higher cost bc it is American made. I don’t regret spending the extra cash on the wiser and my VA-5 never made its way out in the field this year. I don’t think you can go wrong with either. Cool thing about both companies is that they are small American businesses, owned by hunters, who are trying to solve problems for hunters. A VA-5 will outperform both with a heavier optic, but the wiser had no issue with my Swaro ATX 80mm. In fairness though I ran the smaller ATC all year. Good luck and don’t over think it.

      @tsnellyville I have also watched the review by @mindfulhunter. It's the reason I was considering the wiser over the tricer. I do like the tricer tripod setup which I might end up getting. But currently looking to reduce weight by the head I run. Thanks for the info!

      @@nolanhenning1646 - Outdoorsman’s lightweight tripod setup with head costs about $1,700 and is a pound heavier than the Tricer. Not only is the Outdoorsman 30% heavier it costs $1,100 dollars more than the Tricer with arguably decreased levels of performance. The harsh reality is that most working men have a hard time paying $1,100 dollars more for the American Made version of a lower performing tripod setup. I also want to make a point that Tricer is American owned-so although the manufacturer is not U.S. based, the owner is American and believes in America and the money he makes goes towards a business that fuels the American dream. It’s tough-I want to see all manufacturing done in the U.S.-but the costs are ridiculous and it’s a lot to ask of the American working man to eat the difference when he can barely afford everything else he’s got to pay for in this economy. I don’t know what the answer is-I just know that the issue is more nuanced than most realize.
