77 years-old, and living my best life. You have to work at staying strong and healthy. I remain pain and meds-free, regularly walking up and down to and from my 8th floor apartment. Eat healthy, exercise regularly, stay away from people who make you feel bad about your self, and live a life of gratitude. Your body follows what your mind tells it. I tell myself that I am strong and healthy. Guess what, I AM! 😊
This is so powerful. Although I've never had kids, I've still done a lot of nurturing, mentoring and supporting. But I've also had a deep shift and a strong nudge from Spirit that it's time I eat my own harvest. So yes, at 44, there has to be something between the end of mothering (whatever that looked like) and being an elder. I'm actually a little nervous to explore it because I'm realizing how much I've perceived my worth in the world as tied to giving something of myself. And I've just gone thru a long season where maxed that out. There has to be something else beyond more mothering or being an elder.
Loved this conversation, Kerry Ann!!! I could relate to sooo much. I'm experiencing that the women between 55 and 70 are invisible... and I don't know why because I definitely don't feel invisible. It's exactly as you say - there is the mother and there is the crone... and I'm not sure if I'll ever be the crone🤷♀
Yes!! A different conversation is needed. As a post-menopausal 54 yo woman who retired in Aug. 2024, I want this second "half" to look very different than the first and I want my internal environment to change radically. Let's go doc!! I'm ready to learn, to contribute, to discuss, and to make some serious progress.
Kerry Ann I’ve shared many times, anything you create, I will always follow and listen and be in gratitude! Were it not for you and the Annual Clarity Retreat, I would not have the clarity I have now about my life and my purpose. It just so happens I turn 50 in November, so this is truly divine timing! I absolutely adore you and thank you for sharing yourself with the world!!
Hi Kerry Ann, yes to all of this. I am in a very similar position, not fully retired but have so much time. In the first half I worked a lot, I worked with analysis and the intellect. Now I am working on the soul, finding life delicious too, spirituality is a big part of this, cultivating curiousity and playfulness but it is a huge transition! And finding some moments of discombobulation 😊. It is wonderful to see how women at this stage in life can begin to share their true inner beauty.
I subscribed when I heard “I love me some church” 😊 God and my faith are thriving beautifully in early retirement through staying active in my church, attending Sunday School and Bible Class where my faith increasing. Love the active busy street sounds here 🚘
Good luck Kerry Ann, I think your channel will be of interest to many women. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and I am looking forward to joining the conversation!
A moment of synchronicity to find your video today! I kept listening as your content kept resonating & my anticipation & resonance continued without the sinking oh..maybe..but there’s more to this …feelings that others have left me with. At 68 & semi retired & continuing to explore & learn about myself I know this reflective work will always continue. Soul work is embodied work, responsive & seeking. I’m looking forward to what you are going to generate here. Thank you!
I'm excited about your content! I'm on the same journey and I want to be more intentional about this second half of my life. And I love your approach - authenticity over artifice any day♥
I’m an almost 67 yr old woman that finds getting older harder than I thought it would. I struggle with my body not feeling well & I could stand to lose some post menopausal weight. I get in a downward slump of being discouraged, but I don’t want to be because I have been so blessed. God has blessed me over & over in this life. Never thought I’d be this way with aging. I’ll look forward to your upcoming videos. Thank you for sharing.
This is the channel I've been looking. Loving your video style! Your flow is engaging and refreshing. I'm bored of the 10 steps to ..... style of video, which are often just copied from another channel. Can't wait to learn more!
Your content has really resonated with me so far! It is something that I have been looking for, but haven’t found until now. I’m in my late 40s, contemplating retirement in the next several years. I love my job, but I want my 50s and 60s to be different and to be more. Looking forward to more videos from you!
Love how you shared the process of how you came to create this channel. I just turned 50, and I am asking so many of the same questions you have posed. I can relate to so much of your conversation and the desire to deepen from the inside out. Yes, it's so key to embrace our full self to be present and how do we move through the world at this age and stage in our lives. Beautiful sharing!
Hey thanks for this. I’m 55 and retiring in 3 months. So much of this video (and the others) resonates with me. Thanks for putting to words some of my own feelings and thoughts. Looking forward to more of your reflections to come!
Your video truly resonates with me and I am so glad you've started this channel. Everywhere I looked for meaningful information about how one should go about aging, I could only find references about personal finances, fighting aging either with skincare or lifting weights and the likes, or even starting a full process of reinvention, which I find it quite appalling. I don't want to discard the part of me before retirement or when I was young and start afresh. I want to use what I've learned, and my past experiences to further build the continuum of my life, to grow from that and evolve. I may have a different perspective on things now than I had when I was in my 30s but back then it was still me and I don't want to push that part of me aside and reinvent myself. I really like the question about how we move in the world in a new way as joyful aging people, what personal image we want to promote and project to the world. On a comical note, as I was watching your video, TH-cam inserted some commercials about how to deal with arthritis and memory loss LOL.
Thank you so much for sharing the beautiful gift of this channel. I’ve been on this journey of contemplating retirement so, I look forward to continuing to watch. 💜
Ma'am! I'll have what you're having. You are so positive, and your personality radiates through your videos. I hit subscribe when in an earlier video you used the word "delicious" in reference to retirement. 😂 Looking forward to going on this journey with you...and planning my own delicious second half.
Hi Kerry Ann! Have you read The Age of Miracles: Embracing the New MidLife by Marianne Williamson? I like that she refers to mid-life as a ‘second adolescence’. And like you, she refers to the 50s as a magical time.
Kerry Ann, I had this thought in the context of how you were looking for things that matched what you were feeling and weren't able to find it. I have enjoyed watching the Sex and the City reboot "And Just Like That". I don't know if it's a picture of joyful aging per se, but it is interesting to revisit these characters as they each meet new people and redefine their lives in their 50s. Have you seen it? It's tv and of course judging shows is subjective, but I'm wondering if you've watched it and if any of it landed for you when it comes to joyful aging or not? If you're willing to share your thoughts, I'd love to hear them.
Great suggestion @kaymarie1908 ! I have not watched the reboot because I missed the original series. It aired during my blurry, workaholic years (finishing my dissertation, on the tenure track, and no TV)! But I will take a look. Have you seen Later Daters?
@JoyfulAging I've heard of Later Daters but haven't watched it yet. It's on my watch list. If you're interested in seeing "And Just Like That", the first Sex & The City movie from 2008 recaps the whole original series in the first few minutes and is essentially the prequel to the new series. Basically a short cut around watching 6 seasons. Lol

Thank you for this inspiring introduction to a new chapter.
Thank you for such a generous offering... happy to be in this space!
I love everything about this!

Very relevant, thank you. A wonderful book is Finding meaning in the second half of life by James Hollis
Such a great recommendation! One of my favorites :-)
