While its not a crime to profit from a crisis its incredibly untasteful and I agree she is being used as a current example, though many companies will have made plenty out of the crisis. Its pretty obvious this is a massive conflict of interest and they intentionally lied and used threats to try to conceal this conflict of interest. If you are going to profit from a crisis like this you should expect the public response to be negative and that's the choice they get to make. The fact that they sit funnelling their money through the Isle of Man, refusing to accept that she is to benefit from the money they made is beyond me. It speaks the the entitlement of the current ruling class that they cant even see their corruption and trading on their political access.
At the time of the PPE crisis, the Govt/Cabinet Office opened the door wide for this kind of nepotism, insider dealing and corruption to the Old Boy Network. Mone may well be a nasty profiteering individial, but its hardly surprising she and her husband took advantage of such an open door. The Govt may well be looking to get their money back, but its their purchasing policies that were at fault just as much, if not more, than the behaviour of Mone. The other "question" that sticks in my mind is the one about her lying about her involvement. I'm in fits of laughter at the moral outrage of journalists, podcasters, media and indeed the whole spectrum of the press world who find it appaling and indefensible that someone might lie to them. This is the same press or media types who hype, sensationalise, selectively quote, omit context, or simply downright lie themselves in order to suit their master's political, social or moral agendas. Yup, makes me laugh! The key point in all of this outrage is simply about whether the PPE supplied by Mone/Barrowman's company met the contractual specifications. If it didn't, the company should be sued, along with all the other companies who took sums of money for PPE yet failed to deliver.
For all the faults of the press, in this context lying to the press about who got taxpayer’s money is the same as lying to the public. Both face criminal charges and if found guilty their apologists can visit them in prison.
‘Douglas Barrowman, was paid at least £65m in profits from PPE Medpro, and then distributed the funds through a series of offshore accounts, trusts and companies.’ Of the £65m, £45.8m went into the Warren Trust and then from there into the personal bank account of Doug Barrowman. Of that, £28.8m went into the Keristal Trust (beneficiaries Michelle Mone and her children). ‘The HSBC report states that smaller sums - ranging from £5,000 to £200,000 - originating from PPE Medpro profits were passed to some employees of the Knox Group, Barrowman’s financial services firm, who were involved in the PPE business. According to the report, one of those employees told the bank the transfers were “gifts”.’ HSBC ditched them for possibly bringing the bank into disrepute.
A couple of points. When Doug said the uk government preferred to buy from a British company, lies. 2. How in gods name does she honestly believe that there is no case to answer when she leverage her position to access a decision making minister to facilitate a deal between the government a business her husband had just spun up over night. She lied and threatened people will legal action if they time the truth. This isn’t becoming or a baroness. Finally, I nearly vomited when she nearly played the “poor working class girl done good line” about her father coming home with his pay packet to give to his mum, the story was irrelevant and ejected before she tried to spin some ‘ poor me’ yarn.
True. Also, the NHS didn't just need sterile gowns. Non-sterile had their place too. What we didn't need were gowns that stank of chemicals hard enough to make me gag - I can actually smell that shit again just thinking about it. Some of the gowns had insects embedded in the plastic - no exaggeration. There were times when we were so short of PPE in the north east we relied on a donation from the Nissan factory. Michelle Mone doesn't know why what she and her husband did was utterly, indefensibly wrong. That's why she's saying what she is to the media. Clueless.
Am I the only one who hates the clique-y, Westminster-insider vibe this show has? Once again more "Oh I couldn't possibly say who this story is about" stories. PoliticsJoe is surely supposed to be counter to the media love-in at Westminster

@jameslockwood1958 I have seen some good one to one interviews, e.g. Ian Hislop. It seems that when they sit down together, they forget they have a purpose, an audience to serve and they're no longer in the student's bar at university. Of the £65m, £45.8m went into the Warren Trust and then from there into the personal bank account of Doug Barrowman.
According to the report, one of those employees told the bank the transfers were “gifts”.’
HSBC ditched them for possibly bringing the bank into disrepute.
Need to mention Government are looking to get back the £120m plus £13m in costs.
PMQ section was *the best*
Just for scale, 60 million quid equates to about 6% of the National debt after the 2008 bank bail out
oh, penny just dropped that it's "love politics, hate nonsense" that they're saying at the beginning
I have always heard it as, "Love politics, hate nonces."
it's love Podcasts, hate nonces
I have an NVQ in Sage online accountancy and know how to screw the government...
All that talk of Holyrood and far better pun is found at the other end of the Royal Mile... The Bone of Scone.
Also Mone betrayed her own background Labour supporting family. Got rich and turned to Tory greed...
What type of underwear will she need to wear in prison?
Mone
Get back
I'm all right jack keep your hands off my (PPE) stack
Turn up your audio.
My audio level is just fine, but thanks for your concern.
Why can’t they call it the pub cast it anymore???
Is it Love Podcasts: Hate Nonsense or Love Podcasts: Hate Nonces?
The latter
@@ethanbaker22 I assumed it was initially but I started to doubt myself. Thank you
What…. No fish!?? 😂
I Con .....quite correct 😮
I thought the title said "Michael Moore is a girlboss" and now I'm more upset about Michelle Mone taking this from me over the money she stole.
He does make fine lingerie if only people knew.

Libidinous woman. Must have appealed to Johnson
Like deployed 👍
Never mind bitcoin and that shizzle, I made over 60 million sovs in a day from our government. 😎
She’s about as successful in business as ‘trump’ lethinskin
As someone who works in sterile manufacturing, you guys don’t understand what it is 😂
I think she's kind off being used as a distraction what about the rest of them gove and Hancock up to their necks in it she's definitely a very distasteful individual
🤠💜
Just get on with it ffs

Eh ……..
Not sure I found any of these topics quite as childishly-funny as these guys.
I came here to be outraged by the clickbait title but ended up laughing my **** off. That’s quite an achievement these days. Taking the piss mercilessly out of this rotten woman and the rotten MPs who ask their phony questions in the House of Commons makes a bit of a change.
This is juvenile twaddle. I expected better from a channel that purports to be about politics.
It's always that.
@jameslockwood1958 I have seen some good one to one interviews, e.g. Ian Hislop.
It seems that when they sit down together, they forget they have a purpose, an audience to serve and they're no longer in the student's bar at university.
I'm currently reading the autobiography of Geezer Butler, Black Sabbath's bassist. It covers the most drug ravaged periods of the band's career. I got more of a sense of purpose and coherence from this sorry tale than I did from this so-called pod cast.
It’s become truly dreadful - you at least used to get a swatch of Eva’s legs before it became illegal to find women attractive for physical attributes - Eva decided to make herself super unattractive by making us focus on what she says
@@Luddite-vd2ts - Exactly right! They are so over-indulgent in these 'group chats' - guffawing over nonsense and generally talking tosh.
If you don’t like it, don’t listen. It has an audience who enjoy it, there’s plenty of dryer discourse on other channels. I enjoy their banter.
