  • The gang is back after a wild weekend of politicking in Westminster and beyond.
First we delve into the latest in Lee Anderson's standoff with the Tory party, after refusing to apologise for his Islamophobic rant against Sadiq Khan.
Then, we take a look at Jacob Rees-Mogg's op-ed going against the Court's move to uphold the decision to strip Shamima Begum of her citizenship.
Oli also sat down with Andy Hayward to mark the release of his film Warped By War: Inside Putin's Russia.

The brain only finishes developing and maturing in the mid-to-late 20s. The prefrontal cortex, responsible for planning, prioritising and making good decisions, is one of the last parts of the brain to mature. Shamima was 15 and therefore a child with a lot of mental maturing left to do. This government has made an example of her for spitefull reasons. Windrush also took away citizenship from people for no good reason after they had worked here for decades. This is becoming a very nasty country.

Comparing how the media and centrists in the Labour Party stitched up Corbyn over antisemitism and how the Tory party has genuinely been rife with Islamophobia for years doesn’t sit right with me. It’s almost been taken as the historical truth that corbyn’s Labour was antisemitic from the top down, whereas the opposite has been shown through all jazeera’s the Labour files and Martin Forde’s report. Annoyed to see the old lines get regurgitated on here once again. Still love the podcast though chaps:))

  • @callum9999
    @callum9999 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

I think a lot of people are overlooking a crucial point for the Gaza vote - despite both being labelled "ceasefire motions" the SNP motion was significantly stronger than Labour's. The SNP demanded a ceasefire, Labour demanded a ceasefire only if Hamas stop ALL violence, with the explicit statement that if Hamas doesn't then Israel should be free to continue.
That's an ENORMOUS difference. Labour's motion effectively greenlights the current action (Hamas is still being violent, so Israel is fine to continue) whereas the SNP demanded a ceasefire right now (obviously they also want Hamas to stop too, but they don't say that it's fine to continue slaughtering Palestinian children with complete impunity if they don't).
This should all be obvious - there would be no reason for Labour to lobby for their motion to be put in there if they only wanted the same thing as the SNP did. This was specifically designed so Labour could pretend they've called for a ceasefire to try and appease the millions of voters who are angry that they haven't, while reassuring their Zionist support that nothing will change.

But I went from laughing about the idea of people getting angry about 'Islamists' on drugs at Glastonbury to pissed off at the rewriting of history over antisemitism in the Labour party. Why do you say that the leadership stuck their head in the sand when surely you know that the party were working against the leader's team and it was only when Corbyn and Jenny Formby intervened that the process started to improve? It was Ian McNicol's crowd who were at fault, not LOTO.

The problem with the anti-Islam sentiment is that when it comes to critism of Judaism, there is a very clear line of what's acceptable, and sometimes people will get in trouble for even just approaching the line, without even crossing it, but there isn't such a universally recognised standard for anti-Islamic hate speech. If being called Islamophobic carried the same weight as being called anti-semitic, people like Lee Anderson wouldn't spout off in thevway he did. There's a very real double standard and that is a massive problem

Its okay when Labour does it says Oli and Ava. No mention at all of how they wanted to change the wording to "humanitarian ceasefire", and acting like the labour motion on SNP opposition day was identical (it wasnt).
Also don't find it strange or suspicious that speaker does this for 3rd time in history AFTER speaking to leader of the opposition.
Just repeating the propaganda that Hoyle was concerned with MPs safety, that wasn't discussed at all when he tried to justify his actions in spite of the clerks advice against it. Just thought up by spin doctors after the fact.
Yeah those MPs would have faced some frightening language like "I won't vote for you because you support Israel's actions and the UK funds it"

It's laughable how you think that voting makes any difference to anything. The people who hold the reins of power and wealth can't be voted in or out. The political class simply performs the role of middle-managers. Of course, the illusion of living in a democracy must be maintained, for obvious reasons. It is quite bizarre however, that you are giving such serious thought, to something that doesn't exist.

There’s a reason for why this lack of clarity exists. When public conversation moves to the right or left, it’s always about language. Conservative politicians have been using the word Islamist, where they should have been saying Muslim, on purpose, in order to radicalise the conversation. It’s a deliberate attempt to whip up bigotry.

And you know, they defined her being there as being groomed and trafficked, they are literally saying it is their policy to strip citizenship from people who have been child trafficked because the state condemns the groomer.

I have lived and worked in significantly deprived areas of the country, traditionally labour but who voted brexit and tory in latter elections. I have not surveyed the population but I met many who were islamophobic, particularly white British so they probably think it’s a decent chunk of the electorate… and it’s another group they can hate together.

Smuggling Shamima Begum into the UK is a brilliant idea. Syria could easily ship her over undetected, thus getting rid of an unwanted problem and embarrassing Rishi Sunak into the bargain.

Surely the obvious was 'a game of flick football' regards the crude renaming game - makes me wonder if the games of flicking paper triangles across desks in high school has a different names around the world now?
Also haven't I repeatedly told you to burn that jumper of Oli's? Please can you just direct the production team to the charity shop and just buy him a tweed jacket with elbow patches so he stops messing with the 'green screen'

Can I just say (Whilst completely separately), I liked how Ava remembered James Bulger first (Whilst correcting to Venables later due to confusing the true people). It's just how normally you remember the killer, but in this instance Venables is the forgettable one. I do kinda applaud that mistake. James should be remembered whilst... Who was that?... Doesn't matter! Gets completely voided out of memory.

46:37 Does anyone actually believe Hoyle when he says that he made his decision because of threats to MPs? That's not to say that he doesn't want to keep parliamentarians safe, I'm sure he does. However, why did he give the rules being outdated and restrictive as his excuse on the day? Why didn't he tell everyone that it was a security risk?
Why didn't he meet with party leaders other than Starmer if it was so important to reduce the tension over the vote?

THANK YOU AVA. Flynn's behaviour shows that the SNP in Westminster are playing politics above the true issue.
