Thanks to this video I cleaned up plenty of space and discovered a backdoor for malware (direct uni installer). After running malwarebytes I discovered I had nearly 600 infected files. My pc performance has significantly improved since cleaning unnecessary files and removing the malware, thanks a million.
The prefetch folder is used by Windows to load program more quickly on startup. By deleting it, you'll be forcing your system to recreate all of the files again whenever you launch each program, thereby lowering performance, at least temporarily.
You're the actual and only video that fixed this so far. You have my subscription. I wish I could send you a photo of the amount of free space I now have. Thanks man
The prefetch folder is a subfolder of the Windows system folder. The prefetch folder is self-maintaining, and there's no need to delete it or empty its contents. If you empty the folder, Windows and your programs will take longer to open the next time you turn on your computer.
I have to say that I wouldn't have known how to do it thanks to this video, but it helped tremendously. I definitely recommend watching that video. I had 50gb/495gb on my disk, then thanks to the video I cleaned it up and suddenly I have 205gb/495gb - just PC updates. So thanks

This cleared up roughly 42gb of space for me. I wasn't experiencing any slowness but rather needed space. I still need more but 42gb is definitely substantial. This works and is very simple.
also just to let you know when you uninstall a program sometimes the program files might still be on your computer so it would be a good idea to go into the program files folder and make sure that there is no folder of the program you just uninstalled and if there is one you can go ahead and delete it.
