I am a Patreon recipient for the past few months and enjoy your style of teaching. Love your small sized tutorials in regards to portraits. I bought the Conte’ a Paris that you use in the majority of your pastel tutorials and own all the rest of the pastel pencils that you also use. I look forward to finally doing all of your small portrait tutorials. For example the nose, mouth, ears, skin tones and the gold and silver ear ring tutorials. I have also name dropped you within other art groups that I am a member of. God Bless you for sharing your talent with all that is interested in learning your techniques. 💗🙏🏻
Thank you so much for being a Patreon, much appreciated. Love creating those small studies, great fun. Sound like you are all set up with the pencils, they all have their unique qualities that help me create the work I do. Appreciate the feedback, I will continue with more, if you could suggest any that you would like me to create, that would be very helpful. Really grateful for the referrals. Aww thanks for the blessing, that means a lot to me, thrilled you are interested in learning my technique. 🥰🙏
Hi Dave, thanks for demonstrating your process and how you approach painting olive skin tones. Your usage of the burnt sienna and the various other skin tone colors truly advances our knowledge of this vast subject of color theory and also helps us to understand everything much better with your lesson. Thanks again
You are very welcome Mark, thanks for taking the time to leave such great feedback... it is reassuring to me that my videos come across well... all the very best with your art journey. Take care Dave 🙏
I love your work and your videos! Thanks for sharing 🙏🏼 I wonder which brown you usually use, and I don’t mean the burnt sienna, the other brown? I couldn’t find it in the description below. I see it in your other videos too. I hope you can help me ☺️ You have super educational videos! They are really helpful 🙏🏼
Thank you and thank you for watching the videos... it is a brown that is close to a burnt umber colour... so if you match what we're brand you have you won't go wrong... The one I use is from the CarbOthello range... no. 635.
Of all the techniques i had watch on ytube, yours are well explained. It thank you for this. I just bought the expensive pastemat so i can follow ur tuts the only problem are the crandache coz theres no openstock in our area. Can i use gioconda or pastel pitt in replacemnet of carandcahe colors? God bless and thanks so much
The Pastelmat is magic to work on... well worth the money for sure. Thrilled you like my techniques... I would replace the Caran d'Ache with the Pitt pastels if the gioconda, which I am not familiar with, are not vibrant and fresh. You are welocme... all the very best. 🙏
Yes sir the 1st time i touched the pastelmat its true its like magic and pastel doesnt smudge in it compare to sanded paper lol! I guess i have to find it out myself if kohinoor gioconda will also works well.anyway im also planning to buy a pitt pastel if already have a budget coz i have a white color and i liked it so much it doest break yet. Thanks so much sir youre such an inspiration to many!
My son married a Turkish girl, so this video is of particular interest. You are so calm and detailed in your instruction, brilliant! You mention using a mirror. Is there one of your previous videos where you explain this more fully? Best wishes
Thank you for the kind words... pleased that it is of interest to you... regarding using a mirror. In a nut shell. Stand with your back to the easel and reference image, hold up the mirror in front of you so can see the portrait reflection... this gives you a fresh view as it is a flip image... it will help you to see what needs adjusting. Take care... thanks for watching 🙏
Hello Juul, I have to be selective, there is a queue of videos to edit and to upload to Patreon... all in real time which takes some time to produce. It will be on at some point. 🙏
If you could show the reference picture against which you are measuring your drawing, I think it would be a great help to learn how to follow your instructions
Hi. Looking to get the box of 12 pastel pencils stabilo Carbothello arty+. Also gonna join your tutorials monthly. Would these 12 get me by or would u recommend adding a couple of certain colours aswell.
there is an intermediate stage in your drawings where all the constituent colours are visible both separate and mixed and this is the best part each time.
The rich colour stage where I arrange all the values, chroma and temperature before fine tuning the details. I love all the stages, the under drawing gives freedom of flow and movement, the rich colour stage is wonderful to arrange the colour harmonies, and the subtleties of the details. Thanks for watching 🙏
herzlichen Dank für die Präsentation - wie gewohnt perfekt. Meine Bewunderung!
Schätzen Sie Ihre freundlichen Worte... Danke! Alles Gute 🙏

Hello Dave I don’t see this studie video on your Patreon ?

@@DavePortersArt ohw ok, I understand. I just found the reference photo on the internet. I will try it 😉

I do all this in my Patreon... I am limited with TH-cam, the analytics can be really cruel if I make the videos too long etc. Thanks for watching 🙏

A set of 12 set doesn't have the colour I usually use... buy them as singles pencils... list of pencils are in the description. 🙏
Good Idea, probably cheaper aswell
