I agree so much about the feeling the heart and receiving the energy back. I was painting an elephant from a picture once. There was something about his expression. I had a real feeling of connection with him and my brush strokes just felt right. It's the only way I can describe it. Beautiful picture.

Mr. Porter, I have so much respect for you, sir. I try to do pastel portraits what I would like to know, sir, how do you build up the values without the portrait looking dusty and overloaded? Perhaps the paper I use?
Thanks for the kind words Charles... you could be right... it sounds like the paper you are using, Sanded papers are the best I have found... my favourite being Pastelmat dark grey. All the very best 😊🙏

Good but Do you use hairdryers in the drawing to dry faster?
It is a dry medium Pastel pencils. 🙏

Hi there, I don't fix my work as it dulls the colours... I frame my work or wrap them in glassine paper if I put them in storage. 🙏😊
Dave what i fo if i dont have a white kind of pencil...
You really need a white pencil, even if you draw on white paper you would still have to tint the colours in places. 😊🙏
Hi Dave, when you switch from a warm color to a cool color or visa versa; do you use the cool color to set part of a feature back and the warm color to bring a feature more to the front? Curious to know why you use a cool or warm color in a particular place within your artwork even if it’s not related to a portrait?
Thanks for the question... generally if there is a warm light shining on a surface it will casts a cold shadow, but in that shadow there could be warm reflective light. For me I just go with the feeling I get when observing. All the best 🙏
