I always go back to this video when I struggle with contact. I love how Danny's videos are easy to understand and more importantly they give you some simple drills to take to the range. Well done Danny!

After months of frustration hitting irons as a new player, and watching quite a few videos, this was the first one that clicked. Third ball at range practicing this technique was a 160yd 7 iron hit straight at the flag. And they kept coming. What a great feeling, thanks!

Hi Danny, what a great video. It's so simple and clear when you explain the different steps of the swing. I am a 14 handicap player who still has problems with hitting the turf after the ball. I felt a bit depressed about it and fed up with the game. Thanks to you, I'm getting self-confidence again. I am looking forward to apply all this on the range. I'll let you know how it goes. Of course I've subscribed to your channel. Cheers from France.

Danny, without a doubt your videos are outstanding. Several have helped me develop a swing, but this one helped me to correct a major mistake with one practice session. I was hitting behind so much I actually injured my hand. After working with what you showed in this video I saw significant Improvement. Not only was I making good contact with the ball, but I actually started to get the feel of moving my weight forward and ending on my front leg. Thank you, sir!

Excellent video! You explained my problem to a tee. I tried your solution with a couple of short irons today at the range and and successfully accomplished getting my weight over to the left. I now have more work to do. But at least now , I have a positive lesson that will solve my problem. Your videos are very understandable and effective.
    Thank you

HI Danny. I started playing in the '70's when hand/grip position was nearly on the lead hip, and to sweep the ball away as we drive through. Modern appraoch is hand/grip is anything from 1" passed the belly button, to inside the lead thigh, more typically under the lead PEC/chest area, but we still sweep the ball away as the bottom point of the club swing ALWAYS remains after the ball, and striking the ball it is a bye product of the flowing swing. Your explanation of hittiing the destination point and weight transfer weight has proved invaluable. I'm now focussed on turning/rotating using my ABS/Obliques. Hands, arms hold and manoeuvre the golf club and are virtually tension free so are my shoulders since I'm using ABS throughout the WHOLE rotation/swing process. My lead hip is posted by the time I've struck the ball. my momentum and weight transfer continues and is at 90% at destination point & nearly 100% on my lead leg/hip when facing the target and swing is complete. Early days and load more reps needed, but it's a start. Thx

I used this drill and what a transformation . I put club in front of the ball in my set up drill with my weight forward then back to set up behind the ball and then go . Hit some great shots but most of all real consistency . Much greater distance as club face a little de lofted . Its so simple but very effective and I'm 69 years old !!!! Thanks Danny

Thanks Danny, I started watching your videos and I am really surprised how clear and simple you explain the things. A lot of times they tell you "you didn't keep an eye on the ball" and the real problem is you focused too much on keeping your eye on the ball you forgot to keep the body moving. As soon as this COVID19 thing passes, will head to the driving range and try the inverse method!
    Thanks Danny, cheers from Uruguay

    Hey Danny,
I couldn't agree more with mick19421. I very recently picked up my clubs again after not playing for more than 2 years. I'm turning 69 in august and I was (am) a high handicaper when I stopped golfing (32,4). Played for a little over 3 years by then. So I was bitten by the bug very late in life. After watching many of your lessons on Y.T. it started itching again, because you make look so simple. I haven't been out on the course yet, but in my garden (golfing net) things are going much better than 2 years ago when I stopped. I think my big advantage now is that I could start all over again, so to speak, and do it right from the beginning. I have no trouble to unlearn a bad habit first, and I could start from scratch. I can't wait to go to the range/course to see if I been a good student :-)
Thanks for contribution to this wonderful sport

I've been teaching golf for 28 years. This is the first video I have seen that completely explains not only "how to stop hitting the ground behind the golf ball" but how to build a great swing. On the down side, these instructions take a lot of practice and I mean a lot, but once you grasp the idea you are well on your way to a great swing.

You kinda nailed it here Danny - "getting out of one's head about striking the ball". This video, and the one that focuses on the right elbow mention the struggle for many of us aspiring golfers that tend to over focus on hitting the ball, and not on the flow of the swing. If only you were a psychologist and could come at us from that perspective! Any more suggestions for helping us to get out of our heads about contact? I think this is the primary issue for me (and many others), which causes my "over-the-top" result. I am losing faith in my game, but you keep giving me hope. Many thanks... I will work to apply your recommendations and pray for improvement.

    Hey Danny,
    Great videos!
When setting up for an iron shot what should you weight distribution be at the setup . 50/50, 45/55, or.......
When I setup with my weight 50/50 I find it hard to get back to my lead side. But when I start with my weight say 60/40 I flush the iron shot better.
But am I losing distance with the weight 60/40?
Please let me know. Thank you and Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to all.
    Glenn from Canada.

Hello Danny. Great delivery clear communication. 👍
Question, I was always told to focus to hit behind the ball. Here are you saying we focus after the ball. My iron shot 80 to 120 yards , it's getting so bad . I May stop playing lol. So frustrating.
Is it the fact about head down eye on the ball, hit behind... ? Will try your tips this week...

Danny I used a couple of your videos to stop hitting behind it thanks! Getting my swing back in shape. But can you maybe do a video showing why a player might block a shot to the right, seemingly with no obvious mistake in the swing? Not a slice but a shot on a basically straight flight but to the right of the target line?

Hi Danny! Thank you for brilliant content in your videos! I’ve watched a lot of your videos now and I can’t wait until I can hit the driving range with all your lessons, of course taking it one at a time, to see if I can improve my ball strike. Anyhow, as I’m watching you talk about compressing the ball and striking the golf ball first and then the turf, a question that comes to mind is whether you reccomend uisng a tee peg for your iron shots from the tee or if you recommend not uisng a peg and simply strike the ball as it lies on the tee? Hope that question made sense. Have a great (golfing) weekend!

You are zeroing in on the number one challenge of an amateur golf like me- getting a ball turf contact to strike irons pure. Your drills are most helpful to stop hhe rest can be worked on later. A great starting point to learn how to hit the ball. Maybe you should brand this concept and promote it. Excellent starting perspective on learning the golf swing.
