    Because of pyorrhea about 32 years ago I lost all my teeth and I had to wear full dentures . For that reason I could not continue studying the flute: all my teachers and colleagues told me that having lost all my teeth had to study another instrument , piano or guitar, for example. Today, I'm 67 years old and since 7 months ago I have been traying again the breath and I've already managed to get to the lower notes. From now on I will try to get some skills in fingering , and so I am showing all the negative opinions I got in 1984 were wrong. It was just start from "zero". And now when I'm a very old man I realize all the time I have lost and all the joy I could not experience. (Please forgive my poor, ugly English because i'm a Spanish speaker).

      Thanks for your wishes dear Thanos. I'm actually making progress, but in a very slow way. I find it very difficult to finger in quick passages because I have osteoarthritis. I am already in fairly acceptable condition to execute the progressive exercises of Gariboldi. Greetings.

      It depends on the Flute and the kind of Pads that you want on it. If you're playing on a $30,000 Muramatsu Flute or an $80,000 Brannen Flute, then you're going to want the pad that is going to give you the best sound and control. In this video, the were talking about Flutes in the $40,000 range so it makes sense that their pads would be around $90 a piece.

    For the people who are saying "Holy Crap! 48,000 dollars!" You have to look at the type of flute. The typical alto flute, shown in this video, ranges anywhere from 3,000 to 6,000 (if it isn't a Japanese model designed to fall apart). The tenor flute, baritone flute, contrabass etc. may cost more. And no, the flute is not difficult to play. Once you figure out how to get a sound everything becomes fairly easygoing.

    • @daincarandang7603
      @daincarandang7603 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Emily R Lol thats not an Alto flute, thats a C flute. C flutes are the most common flute played and its what all beginners start on before moving to piccolo or other instruments in the family if they want to switch.

    Flutes are actually the second-hardest woodwind instrument to play, I think. Maybe third. No, we don't have to suffer from reeds, but we have to keep it parallel to the ground, like Jason said. We certainly do have to use our lips. That's how we change octaves, dynamics, and so many other things! Notes is only one aspect of music.

    I own a custom made flute that was commission for my local music store. It was priced at $350 but since I’m a college student I got the price reduced to $250. I’ve had it for about a year and it’s the perfect flute. Not to big or to little and closed hole .

      +Bill Elliott My bassoons cost $4,000 and $6,000 a piece. I'm saving up for a fox 240 which is about $9,000 or a moosmann 24 which is about $8,000. Professional bassoons usually run for about $30,000 or even more

      Flutes have a lot of variety. Open holes or closed holes. B-foot or c-foot, stirling silver, everywhere, nowhere or some place, a gold lip plate, a gold everything.

    I got a very nice flute for $1200 that had a Boston head joint and Sonare body and foot joints. Excellent flute and almost as good as a fully professional flute. One think to consider though is the Boston head joint dents way easy as should be handled carefully. I can't imagine how delicate some of the better flutes are. (btw thinner metal= better tone)

    I agree with that...I didn't want a gold flute after trying out Gold Brannens, but when I played Powell's Aurumite flute (tubing is both silver and gold, fused together so they vibrate as one...75% Silver and 25% Gold. I find that I get the response of silver and the warmth of gold. Though, the heaviness of it is taxing to work through...I have to work sooo hard but I need the work I guess. Platinum plays like an absolute dream...but I may as well keep dreaming.

    This is Brannen Brothers Flutemakers, Inc.
    (Later part of the film shows a 14K gold flute)
    The pricing estimates indicated, are all normal
    for this high level of flutemaking (soldered toneholes)
    but today this way of flutemaking is becoming ancient.

    Its a sterling silver flute, a solid gold flute isn't as tonally sound as a solid silver one, the flute however is commonly plated in gold which electroplates to silver

    • @mc526
