I think Trombones are underrated. They deserve more respect. Since the Trombones have a slide, it's actually easier or even harder for us to play. - A Trombonist
@@alanartz I guess our school and many others followed the traditional place for trombones in a marching band. There's a song, "76 trombones led the big parade" from the old musical called 'The Music Man'. Check it out!
WOW! I played and practices Trombone Elementary school all the way through all 4 years of Marching Band in Highschool. Im now 21 and I've never seen how it's made. Thanks for the video! Trombone is an awesome instrument!!!! I LOVE IT!
At the end that was a really smooth sound, I've played trombone for two years now on an Andreas Eastman trombone and I love it,I've never played on a shire but hope to in the future
I can't believe you'd say that. With a good player and the right music, these "noisy" intruments would have a great chance at making you tear up and cry.
I remember seeing this episode and the trumpet episode when I was 9 and it giving a shit. Now I play both instruments and I'm captivated by this assembly
I'm a Trombone player and I'm surprised that they didn't add how to make a trombone mouth piece, because it's pretty much the 2nd most important piece next to the slide!
I've played trombone for 7 years now, and have gone through many different horns. I took a trip to the Edwards factory this summer and tried out a bunch of horns and got fitted for a T-350, but then I got to try the new Alessi T369-A, and I fell in love with it. I ordered one, and am awaiting it's arrival, but let's just say, Edward's "worth the wait" policy is really setting in after 3 months of waiting. Oh well, the price of quality I guess.
In total a brass trombone has 9 feet of tubing. Straightened that's enough to reach from the floor to the ceiling. "But of course, trombone makers are more interested in musical highs and lows". I liked this part. :D
lol good to know how they make my trombone (well this one is not really my brand but similar to how they do mine im sure) cant wait to play it for the next 2 years of marching band
I was watching the Trumpet...then the French horn last night then I woke up here........and this is why I'm a trombone player French horns always tire me out.
"He then pushes the balls through the U-tube." Nice line :) I've always wanted a Shires Bass, my local store doesnt carry any, so I havent't got a chance to test one.
I like how, at the very beginning, the slide is on the wrong side of the trombone. It clearly should be on the right side, because of the way the valve is positioned.
I see the bell size, has to be a bass trombone, see 3 layers of tubing, gotta be a bass trombone, see 2 valves, bass trombone, hear the 2 guys not playing pedals... depression
I played trombone for four years in school.Ah,but those WERE the days!!Lots of fun in the marching band, and it was very competitive trying to get to first chair and stay there.i'm 64 now and haven't played since then, but I could still pick one up and play the C scale. 31431313!!Yeah,baby!Good times!(And I never realized how complicated they are to make.)
A tenor trombone with that large of a flair and two valves? Absolutely not. This is a bass trombone.
Obviously
Hmmhmmm, bass trombones are better

It's like having an old CRT again.
oh yeah, TROMBONE IS THE BEST AND WILL ALWAYS AND FOREVER BE
Very true ;)
In the land of the marching band, we euphoniums have made powerful allies of the trombones against the encroaching woodwinds
That One Trumpet Player Just because of a simple opinion? Sad 😑😑😑

TROMBONE BROTHERS FOREVER!

It really makes you appreciate all the work that goes into making so many everyday objects.
I wouldn't call a 5000 dollar trombone an everyday object lol
Love it.

i thought they were gonna show a tenor trombone. not a bass one.

My mom called me a tromboner. Feels bad.
I very much appreciated this video, since I recently bought a Shires trombone. What quality. Too bad nobody else makes trombones this well any more.
And now we know why those blasted trombones cost so darn much.
That's pretty awesome never knew so much work was involved to build one.
That's so cool! It isn't very strange that they are so expencive, when it's all made so carefully! I've a Conn 88H and I love it=)
When he makes the flare it looks soo cool!!! Its neat how as it spins it looom like waves gpong from the centre outwards!!
I had no idea how these were made! sooo cool! love this!
WOW!!! Impressive. God bless instrument-makers. What talent!!!!

pretty fucking amazing how trombones are made. aside from all the welding, i never would've guessed any of this.
Best instrument in the world :-D its awesome, I've been playing it for four years. And still playing
Thank goodness for the craftsmen at Shires! They build a custom handslide for my Bass and it is the best I've ever played!

The description says bass trombone, though.

Very interesting. Nice to know how the trombone was made 👍
nice loud ass ringing noise
I love this show. :)
They are actually making a Shires independent bass with Tru-Bores, so there are two valves, in F and Gb.
this is so cool!
that's pretty awesome, now I know trombones were made
Oh that they are! My bandmaster at church plays a Shires bass with two Thayer valves, he loves it. Haha can't blame he, he sounds mighty fine on it!
The best instrument!
did he say sackbut? at the beginning...
Yeah
he did, if you didnt know the sackbut was the precursor to the trombone, mainly used during the Renaissance
