One negative I see with this program is that they offer it to future Marines that sign infantry contracts at the recruiter's office. This to me means that a Marine that is tired of the infantry has to stay in for 2 extra years AND assume the role and responsibility of being a Squad Leader when he may not be motivated to do so. That's 2 extra years of being locked in. Just because they signed a contract doesn't mean they are going to be a great 0365 a few years down the road. I think if anything, we should use this as an incentive for stellar Marines that are close to the end of their first year term that are not yet squad leaders.
