I'm a proud mother of a Ret Marine daughter. She served 21yrs and followed in her late father's footsteps, who was a Vietnam Veteran. Once a Marine. Always a Marine. Ooh Rah....
My 6th great grandfather was Henry Middleton, who served as President of the Continental Congress during the American Revolution. He signed the order to create the Marines. My 5th, Arthur Middleton, was 1 of 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence, wrote the South Carolina state Constitution and Bill of Rights that served as an early framework, and help to design the Great Seal of America as the Chair of the Third Great Seal Committee, while leading militias along the East to drive out the British. My 7th, also by the name of Arthur Middleton, dissolved the British Lords' Proprietors during their final meeting in Charleston. Each and every successive generation serves in one capacity or another, honing our strengths in service of our Republic. It is fitting, then, that my father was also a Marine, having served in Beirut as part of the Multinational Task Force Lebanon. In fact, was walking out of the barracks just as the suicide bombers drove into the building. His last full measure of devotion took place when I was 18, while training for redeployment in the Middle East, after having served extensively in both Iraq and Afghanistan. I know that each of you love our Republic just as much as I do. You carry our love of Liberty, the spark of the Divine, in your hearts. You are the lifeblood of our nation, America manifest in each. What we do is in service to the cause of Liberty, the very Oath we swear to those ends. The price for our freedom is eternal vigilance, but we have never been unwilling to pay that price. Our people require leadership they can trust, with vision, inspiration, discipline, and adherence to the fundamental principles that have made America the freest and most prosperous nation in the world. Every war is political, and the one we now face, at home, is a challenge to reinvigorate the American spirit and restore the economic freedoms that underpin our prosperity at home and peace abroad. Consider it. Our mission is an eternal one, Semper Fi!
22 years, 2 months, and 6 days…I lived it. I hated it. But got exactly what I was seeking. My identity. My family. My spirit. I joined in peace, but served several combat tours on behalf of folks who had no idea why I’d chosen to. After all’s done, I actually loved it. Loved the Marines. Loved my MOS. Loved my duty stations. Even 29 Stumps. Semper Fi Marines.

@@JoseRodriguez-pn8yj ♥️🇺🇸♥️ Thank you for your well wishes for them. They still get deployed, never at the same place together. Only once in their career for 10 days. I was given clearance to be with them. It was great! Then, my eldest son got massive injuries about a year later. They didn’t know if he would survive minute to minute, and he was really upset because he might not be able to continue serving. The guys with him were trying to make him understand that staying alive is more important. There was a team of surgeons waiting for him to arrive. They knew that his injuries were really severe, and it would be a great learning experience. My eldest and I were so happy that he was able to continue to serve. That was a few years ago. He and I have a lot of fun together when he gets to come home from his deployment. My youngest was critically injured when his helicopter was shot down, and exploded when it hit the ground. They were all really happy that they lived, knowing it could have been a lot worse. They’re all healed and continuing to go forward in The Marine Corps. We have so much fun when we’re on the phone together. I’m so happy that they’re able to carry on. At an early age, they both knew what they wanted to be when they grew up. You might find this story amusing. When I went through USMC bootcamp, there was a guy going through in the group ahead of me who had gotten out of the Navy. He had been a corpsman who had served with Marine units in Vietnam and he decided that he wanted to BE a Marine. So, as an HMC (E-7) with 16 years service he enlisted in the USMC as a PVT (E-1). He got meritorious promotion to PFC (E-2) when he graduated. I saw him walking around with his single PFC stripe and his 4 service stripes. He was giving up 4 years of higher pay but his retirement pay would be based on his highest rank honorably held.

BAHAHAHAHAHA!!! LOVE IT!!!!
As a former PAO staffer in the 1980's, I sometimes question/criticize today's work being done.

Bless you, sir. My dad was angry with me for joining and wouldn't talk to me for months after I joined. We didn't talk my entire senior year of high school. Something about all his high school buddies getting their legs blown off or something. I'm 49 now and occasionally we talk. He's still mad about it even though I didn't die. I'm not even happy I did it. Life is fucked up sideways.
This is the single best Marine Corps birthday video I've ever seen
I suffered an extremely very not good head injury in Nam, not angry at all.GOD bless all of all. Thank you Jesus. Have a nice night & a beautiful tomorrow.

Very telling. 🤔 The U.S. it actually going down the toilet right before our very eyes. Why the hell would anyone join the USMC with Brandon as the Commander in Chief?! “Semper Fidelis. Happy birthday, Marines.” 🙏🏻
Our mission is an eternal one,
Semper Fi!
22 years, 2 months, and 6 days…I lived it. I hated it. But got exactly what I was seeking. My identity. My family. My spirit. I joined in peace, but served several combat tours on behalf of folks who had no idea why I’d chosen to. After all’s done, I actually loved it. Loved the Marines. Loved my MOS. Loved my duty stations. Even 29 Stumps. Semper Fi Marines.
Im 19, and have finally made the decision to follow in my dads footsteps and join the Marines.
Times flies when you are having fun although it was never only fun. I remember my first USMC birthday in 1961; was still going through bootcamp but felt like a real Marine already even if wet behind the ears. I still swell up and get misty when I hear our hymn. Semper Fi Devil Dogs and Happy Birthday. May the young Marines of today keep up our greatest tradition of proudly being called Marine
I love having been a Marine, I love that my son is a Marine today, It changed the direction of my life for the better, it changed me completely in mindset of how a approach life. I hope that any young person reading this that feels that they have no direction looks at the service, whether it is as a Marine or anything else. It is a viable option. Don't let the fact that you have to separate from your friends and family stop you. It is temporary discomfort that molds you into an adult that can handle life. Be the best, be a Marine.

♥️🇺🇸♥️ Thank you for your well wishes for them.
And they did, and are living their lifetime dream that they had.
Thank you for your kind words, and I will let them know you are sending well wishes to them.
Ok. Bye! Have a great night.
I would like to say thank you all that have served in any branch of our military. Appreciate you. Be safe.

@@Mom-USMCRichardUSMCChristopher What a sweet soul you are, blessed be your family, I have served some time in the corps myself, but upon doing social research, I came to be disgusted with what my mission was as part of that institution and what it’s been used for in the past, I believe most young men join the marine corps being completely oblivious to that reality, they join to fulfill their desires to be warriors, to test themselves, for fraternity, for job opportunities, for economic pressures, what unites all marines is a willingness to fight to be better, to better themselves, I hope your boys keep out of harms way.
@Jose Rodriguez that last part is true for me. I wanted to test and prove myself. I feel like I belong here, because of the people. I have learned a lot in the Corps, and I'm grateful for it. Many life skills, character development, alomg

Good message and probably the best production value of any birthday message yet. The one thing I thought was missing was a message of thanks to the families who support us Marines. There's usually something in there like that. All-in-all, well done! Semper Fi...Sgt. V.
