  • On November 10, 2022, U.S. Marines around the globe will celebrate 247 years of success on the battlefield and a legacy defined by honor, courage and commitment.
This year, the Commandant of the Marine Corps Gen. David H. Berger and the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Troy E. Black reiterate to the force that Marines are warfighters first and foremost, in any clime and place.
Drawing on the strength and service of those who wore the Eagle, Globe and Anchor in years past, Marines today are standing ready to fight and win.
(U.S. Marine Corps video by SSgt John Martinez, SSgt Aaron Patterson and Rick Robinson)

When I was in the Army in both Iraq and Afghanistan, there was one common recurring theme amongst enemy combatants: they FEARED Marines. They called them devils and demons. When captured, if they didn’t listen to our commands, we would tell them “we are going to call the Marines” 😅

This is a nice story, Ray. Thank you. I was an infantry Marine and didn't like it much, but sometimes I see something like this and it makes me feel better about the 5 years I gave to those assholes. Thanks, brother.

@@brandonbp122 yea man I FEEL that. It’s a delicate balance between “ah I love this shit, this is epic” and “I hate all these people, they’re toxic, I’m out” haha but in the end of the day though, Yes, this life wears you down, in every way, and they never openly TEACH you the special invincible mindset upfront…but….if you’re lucky, you discover it on your own. When you’re freezing, hungry, exhausted,!and have poison ivy all over your dick and balls….there is a place deep in your mind that is still always calm, neutral, and untouchable. That’s what it’s all about brother. Most people in life have never struggled hard enough to find that deeper spiritual nature that’s inside of them. The military, as much as I often HATE IT has given me the chance to really know myself and my SOUL. As cheesy as that sounds. I don’t regret any of my time in the infantry. Take care. RLTW.

    • @Tyler-vw9bh
      @Tyler-vw9bh ปีที่แล้ว +19

@@JoseRodriguez-pn8yj Nationalism can be taken too far but it is a good thing in moderate doses. People need to have a common identities starting from small to large. You need to be a part of a family/community/profession/country/humanity.... having separate countries is good because if we combined them all it would lead to one dominant ruling class and culture, having many countries helps to compartmentalize and mitigate risk (one reason I am opposed to the US govts lust for hegemony). America is in a narcissim crisis right now leading to many pathologies: wealth/power stratification and mental health being the most urgent IMO. Without nationalism, we see ourselves too much as competitors and not cooperators. People are lonely because they don't identify as something larger. Not everyone is going to have a loving family or satisfactory career and those people need to have a country and community to fall back on.

Bless you, sir. My dad was angry with me for joining and wouldn't talk to me for months after I joined. We didn't talk my entire senior year of high school. Something about all his high school buddies getting their legs blown off or something. I'm 49 now and occasionally we talk. He's still mad about it even though I didn't die. I'm not even happy I did it. Life is fucked up sideways.

♥️🇺🇸♥️ Thank you for your well wishes for them.
They still get deployed, never at the same place together. Only once in their career for 10 days. I was given clearance to be with them. It was great!
Then, my eldest son got massive injuries about a year later. They didn’t know if he would survive minute to minute, and he was really upset because he might not be able to continue serving.
The guys with him were trying to make him understand that staying alive is more important.
There was a team of surgeons waiting for him to arrive. They knew that his injuries were really severe, and it would be a great learning experience.
My eldest and I were so happy that he was able to continue to serve. That was a few years ago.
He and I have a lot of fun together when he gets to come home from his deployment.
My youngest was critically injured when his helicopter was shot down, and exploded when it hit the ground.
They were all really happy that they lived, knowing it could have been a lot worse.
They’re all healed and continuing to go forward in The Marine Corps.
We have so much fun when we’re on the phone together.
I’m so happy that they’re able to carry on. At an early age, they both knew what they wanted to be when they grew up.
And they did, and are living their lifetime dream that they had.
Thank you for your kind words, and I will let them know you are sending well wishes to them.
Ok. Bye! Have a great night.
I would like to say thank you all that have served in any branch of our military. Appreciate you. Be safe.

My 6th great grandfather was Henry Middleton, who served as President of the Continental Congress during the American Revolution. He signed the order to create the Marines. My 5th, Arthur Middleton, was 1 of 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence, wrote the South Carolina state Constitution and Bill of Rights that served as an early framework, and help to design the Great Seal of America as the Chair of the Third Great Seal Committee, while leading militias along the East to drive out the British. My 7th, also by the name of Arthur Middleton, dissolved the British Lords' Proprietors during their final meeting in Charleston.
Each and every successive generation serves in one capacity or another, honing our strengths in service of our Republic. It is fitting, then, that my father was also a Marine, having served in Beirut as part of the Multinational Task Force Lebanon. In fact, was walking out of the barracks just as the suicide bombers drove into the building. His last full measure of devotion took place when I was 18, while training for redeployment in the Middle East, after having served extensively in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
I know that each of you love our Republic just as much as I do. You carry our love of Liberty, the spark of the Divine, in your hearts. You are the lifeblood of our nation, America manifest in each. What we do is in service to the cause of Liberty, the very Oath we swear to those ends. The price for our freedom is eternal vigilance, but we have never been unwilling to pay that price. Our people require leadership they can trust, with vision, inspiration, discipline, and adherence to the fundamental principles that have made America the freest and most prosperous nation in the world. Every war is political, and the one we now face, at home, is a challenge to reinvigorate the American spirit and restore the economic freedoms that underpin our prosperity at home and peace abroad. Consider it.
Our mission is an eternal one,
    Semper Fi!

The video forgot to mention the Marines of the Chosin Reservoir. During the Korean War, the 1st Marine Division was surrounded by a much larger Chinese Communist force. While some in the world were willing to write the 1st Marine Division off as lost, the Chosin Marines rallied and fought like Marines. They kicked ass. In sub-zero weather, the Chosin Marines fought their way to the sea, destroyed the much larger Communist Chinese force that had as its goal the annihilation of the 1st Marine Division. The Marines marched out with their wounded and dead, and with their heavy equipment and vehicles. They marched out of the Reservoir like MARINES. He had been a corpsman who had served with Marine units in Vietnam and he decided that he wanted to BE a Marine. So, as an HMC (E-7) with 16 years service he enlisted in the USMC as a PVT (E-1). He got meritorious promotion to PFC (E-2) when he graduated. I saw him walking around with his single PFC stripe and his 4 service stripes. He was giving up 4 years of higher pay but his retirement pay would be based on his highest rank honorably held.

From a "Chair Force" vet, Happy Birthday Marines. I have nothing but admiration for all who've served, and those who will serve.

Happy Birthday and Semper Fi Marines! My great uncle, SgtMaj William Braddock passed away this year at the age of 99. He was a survivor of Pearl Harbor and fought on Iwo Jima. I am proud that I graduated on the same parade deck in San Diego as he did, as well as my father, uncle, and cousins. Although I got out in '06 after 5 years, I still miss it to this day.
