6:37 And Democrats oppose school choice. There’s blame on both sides. Let’s start working together, instead of blaming all of our problems on the other political party. “We, the people”, need to work together and not just rely on the government for support. IMO…

@@justinholliday8047 Thanks for the comment, this a great topic to dive into! Democrats oppose school choice because it is bad! It harms students who have special needs, leads to decreased property values as public schools lose public funding, and siphons resources from lower income to higher income families. School choice got its start as a way to get around desegregation, as infamous religious leaders like Jerry Falwell Sr got into politics after Brown v Board of Education. Also, I see this fallout as a religious trauma therapist, most school choice money goes to religious institutions, where lack of oversight leads to systemic abuse and predators being on staff. The profession most likely to abuse children is religious leaders. Additionally, the percentage of religious schools that take these federal funds but do not let children opt out of religious courses (as is required by law since they take federal money) is very high. School choice is bad, like really bad, and so the "both sides" falls apart here, as it usually does since it's a logical fallacy. School lunches are good! Higher test scores, fewer behavioral issues, higher rate of learning objectives met, lots of data on free lunch and breakfast being really great! So, I agree to working together and for future generations, support kids getting a great education in a safe environment! That means no to school choice and yes to school lunches

@@wellnesswithjer valid points. I guess my general stance is, whenever the government gets involved, no matter the circumstance or issue, the issue never gets resolved. Similar to how the pharmaceutical industry never develops a “cure” for an illness, but they seem to always find a way to “treat” the symptoms (by developing prescribed medication that you’ll need to purchase monthly). The problem is, the politicians (on both sides of the aisle), trick people into thinking that they have our best interests in mind. When in actuality, what they truly want is for us to be totally dependent on their programs, services, and handouts. Even though they are providing these services with our own tax dollars….. Sorry, I got a little sidetracked, lol. In regard to the school choice issue, it might not be the right solution for every student or family. But I wholeheartedly believe that parents of students, should at least have the option to decide whether their child should attend the school a couple blocks away from where they live. Or if they would rather send their child to different a school in another district. Now don’t get me wrong, it would be up to the parents to make the necessary transportation arrangements for their child to attend the school of their choice. With freedom of choice, comes personal responsibility. I guess what I’m an advocate for is the freedom to choose. And schools should be held accountable for how well the students are performing. Our country’s teaching philosophy isn’t beneficial to the actual students. It seems like we are teaching them only what they need to know to raise standardized tests scores. Which then determines how much money is allocated to that school. But they aren’t being taught practical life skills, like how to balance a check book, fill out a tax form, how to give a PowerPoint presentation, how to sell yourself in a job interview. I also think that we need to end the tenure status that so many professors have. A professor shouldn’t have immunity from consequences just because a they have taught for ten years at the same university. Anyway, I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts and any counter arguments you might have. Honest dialogue, and actually listening to different opinions is how we learn and grow as a person and hopefully as a country. Thanks sharing your thoughts. Oh, and Tool, is worth reacting to again.

We evolved to run game down, not to sprint. We evolved as omnivores. Meat provided the nutrients to expand our brains into being able to plan more efficient ways to feed ourselves. As I write this, your statements are becoming more inaccurate .

@@guylewis477 our biomechanics are absolutely for short bursts. We are not born with the ability to do long distances, we have the potential, but our muscles need to lengthen over time. It is true it was a necessary adaptation that we ran distances, but still hunting in community, which was my point. My 30 min videos don't always allow the space for full exposition on every point, lol

@wellnesswithjer I would see how terrain would be a factor. One can't chase down game in thick vegetation. Short stocky Amazonians. On the plains though it takes a long game like Zulu peoples.

I was with you until you went political, you're not too bright, music is our escape from that

    • @wellnesswithjer

@@JoeAlbertan using music as an escape can be super beneficial, that is true. Listening to music can help put us into a specific mood, or it can validate a mood we are already in. I love Pink Floyd and System of a Down, and to say music isn't political would be to miss the point. Paul Ryan saying Rage Against the Machine is his favorite band comes to mind. And therapy is political, so, I'll get political because helping other people has become politicized. If that's not your jam, lots of other content out there for you! Love the long hair in your profile pic, long hair club!
