If foreign players upped the quality of the premier league wouldn't foreign referees up the quality of officiating and help with bias issues cause you can tell refs like Craig Pawson and Mike Dean have bias issues
Good video done by Tifo. My issue with all this is why the PGMOL and match officials are not transparent with all of this. There is no accountability to the public as fans keep wondering if they are being shafted by referees’ decisions. Referees should be mic’ed up like they did in the A league with one official. Let fans hear what is the thinking behind the decisions, their communication with the linesman and VAR. Also consider publishing these referee evaluations in order to determine PGMOL’s stance on decisions and whether they deem a referee’s decision correct or not. That could help reduce the heat on referees.

However, being a PL fan myself, I find my respect for referees declining. This season has been abysmal in terms of the utilization of VAR. The World Cup did it right, the PL does not.

Great video but I'm not sure if I've missed an important point here, but I'm not sure if you have answered the question...you have explained how they rank within the table, but not how they are then selected from the table (besides their home address and team they support). Does the person ranked #1 automatically ref the most high profile match that week (assuming they're not excluded for the above reasons)?
I still find it a little bit far fetched how they go over where someone was born to indicate if they are fit to referee a match. Probably made sense back in the days but there aren't that many people left that would pick blindly supporting their hometown club over their jobs nowadays.
My thought on how to solve this VAR problem. Have a room full of 7 or 9 people. They get 10 to 30 seconds to make a decision, determine the time period and the majority required for a specific decision, e.g. A corner is 10 seconds and a 5v4 majority, a penalty is 30 seconds and needs to be clear and obvious and a 7/9 majority. Ask them why they went against the norm, and sack those who continually go against the norm. I'm sure you can get a room full of lower league refs, ex lower league footballers etc that with some traiming are good and willing to do this. All the teams would be happy funding this.
