Performance Boost: Methanol for a Supercharged Cleveland Engine

- On todays episode we talk to Dan about his blown Cleveland in his XC Ford Falcon GS Falcon, Power Slave. Daniel has had this car for 20 years and drove it to high school. He had the horse power bug from a young age so it wasn't long before he was building bigger and better engines. And over the last two decades it has become a methanol drinking 671 blown Cleveland.
Apparently putting big power through a Cleveland block is a no go as they are known to split, but with the help from some Darten sleeves and a lot of trial and error he has cracked the Cleveland code and is getting a healthy 880 HP on his set up. theirs a lot to learn as Daniel takes us through some of the day to day processes of running a big combo.
And the pros and cons of running Methanol. The motor is a Cleveland 410 Cubic Inch stroker, gearbox is a C4 but its not expected to last, he has blown many gearboxes. Diff is a strange 9 inch. The interior is a bit rough but its built for burnouts and drag so its tidy enough, just the hood lining is half cut out for the cage. the paint is orange with very light ghosted GT stripes and it presents well still except for around the wheel arches and back doors from blowing tires.

My 350 chev runs 30 degrees cooler since fitting the supercharger , its a single carb weiand blower

Not sure what car your refering to but the only panel on the slave that doesnt fit is the fibre glass bonnet. As for the finish its a mirror. The door gaps are perfect. The gutters are shaved. I guess you need to see it in person..

if cleveland heads are so good, why is there no aftermarket? Building a better block shouldn’t be a problem.
Not enough demand people use dart blocks which are a mixture between clevo and windsor. There has recently been made a true clevo block made. Its designed off the todd buttermore design. Its call a track boss. How ever it still in its testing stage in the US, by a company called T Meyer

Yeah 2thou clearance on tri metal bearings and bigger pump spring. Drops to about 80 90 when thins out

I think they did the stronger XE blocks for Ford's Nascar programme, before they were finally allowed to use the Windsor style Ford Motorsport blocks. Check out Drag Boss Garage, and you'll see Tim's 9.37@142 N/A '69 2 bolt main Cleveland/C4 Mercury Cougar !!
