Definitely bittersweet when they leave. I raised three orphaned raccoons a few years ago - from bottle feeding to teaching them to find food in streams. They finally left around the late Fall. I never named them because I didn't want to get too attached, but you're basically their parent. Great times! My three little buggers are likely dead by now but they wouldn't have lived if not for folks like us. Here's to Roscoe! May he find all the bugs and crawdads and gf's his raccoon heart desires. lol
We will miss Roscoe but, very happy for him and he will never forget his human friend. And....he will return to show off his family to you. I've seen it before. Thanks for the update Erin!!!!
Roscoe has shared some wonderful times with a very special person... You. He's a lucky raccoon... And I'm sure he'll pop in for a reunion from time to time. He's smart like that. ;)
Caring for Roscoe was a wonderful act of kindness. You saved his life and gave him the chance to grow up. Now he has made friends, likely found a mate and is living the high life. You are a kind, loving person and can be very proud of yourself. : )
Roscoe came for awhile and you provided his needs for a time. I was impressed that you had him live outside in the world and didn't make him a a house pet. When the time came for him to move on he did left because he also learned survival skills. Do not be surprised had he someday may return, Hope so. Stay safe and healthy
Thank you for the clips of Roscoe. You did a great job being his human mom until he knew how to be the best raccoon he could be. I enjoyed him playing and picking on you, it showed his trust in you.
I've raised 5 raccoon kits over the last 15 years. One at a time. Bottle feeding is rough, but very rewarding bc they think you are mommy. Trained them all to take care of themselves as best that I could. Most leave home around 9 months old, fully grown. Some have come back to visit, so there is hope that Roscoe will stop by occasionally. Lot of work, but also lots of fun. Heart breaking when they leave, but you know it's the way God intended. I have one now named Rufus. He will be a year old in April. He's ready to move on but thankfully hasn't left yet. Enjoy every minute.
It was great seeing you and Roscoe. Even my border collie watch you two on the big screen tv as you fed Roscoe grapes. I bet his (Roscoe) video clips are titled "Living with a beautiful human woman who fed me grapes" LOL.
I had one about same age as Roscoe do that too, where I worked at a Marina in Daytona, Florida.....hed come visit frequently and then it started to taper off. I also noticed around this time OTHER raccoons around him. Eventually, after about 2 weeks of disappearances, I didn't see him again. I think they get older and just move on. Alas! Nice while it lasted! Thanks alot Erin for all the great posts of Roscoe!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for the update, Erin. He is a healthy young male raccoon who went on to claim his own territory and raise little Roscoe's, as it should be. It's a good thing and we all have good memories of him. What more can you ask for? The females' are a little different. I had a friend who was benefactor to a "wild" but habituated racoon for 14 years when when, despite medical care, she died due to injury's.
I know exactly how you feel about Roscoe. I rescued an abandoned baby porcupine and raised him to adulthood. Mr. Prickles was awesome to have around. He was potty trained and so much fun to play with. But the time did come when he just stopped coming back for visits and treats. But with pictures and memories he will always be a member of our family.
8:32 I swear Roscoe is praying for you. Lol That’s hilarious. He puts his hand (whatever Raccoons have) on you and bows his head. Looks just like he’s praying. Then he proceed to massage your shoulder. Thanks Roscoe for the laughs. Live Free
Hopefully he comes back! Please don't hate me for saying this, but at 8:37 -- you have the prettiest smile when Roscoe is giving you the mini back massage. I'm glad Roscoe made you happy and hope you have a great day!
Friend of mine had a Roscoe when she was a little girl..…. As he grew up he started staying away for longer and longer time periods. His last visit was after he had been away for a whole year. Just dropped in to say hi and let her know he was doing well.
What's crazy?! Lol there's a spoiled rotten chubby raccoon with his own bedroom, bunk beds, toys, hammock swing, party lights, and tv at my place! Most loving, hilarious, intelligent and fun animal on earth. Non-stop 24/7 work, but worth it.
Thanks for the update and congratulations on accomplishing what you set out to do with Roscoe! Your hair is awesome! In your previous video you had it braids and now it’s down and flowing! Anyway you wear it is super nice. Like many other of your fans, I believe you are gorgeous and an extremely interesting person. Thank you for sharing!
I know someone who raised and rehabilitated coons for years. Depending on what part of the country your from, and how much food is available in the wild. He will be back to visit if he has trouble finding food. Even after a few years they can come back. You would 've suprised how long they live. And how well their memory is. Especially females.
Raccoons are a fun pet. The video clips are great. Our raccoons always left when they got older. Sometimes I had to go get one out of a neighbors tree across town cause they didn’t like coons around their place
You said lot of times he would turn down the grape and scurry off. Wow! That video of him riding/hanging on your shoulder looked like he would never turn down a chance for a delicious grape.
Erin he will be back.He is just starting his owen family.just like you sooner or later will do the same thing.i know you miss him he was your little babby but you did the right thing erin.thank you for your videos. I hope he comes back with babbies so you can help him out.he will rember you you will see.god bless you have a great day erin.
Erin, with your horticultural back ground and your ability with animals, you could get a job at any zoo on the planet. I make this comment because I worked at the Cincinnati Zoo for 10 years and met many people exactly like you.
I'll bet you miss him like crazy. My wife and I fell in love with racs back in the 90's. We started by feeding one raccoon and suddenly she showed up with two babies. We now had three and three turned into seven within a year. After five years we had 33 raccoons knocking on our front door at 7 p.m. sharp every night. We fed them Attaboy by the 60 lb. bag. We did have a couple that would come into the house. They are really adorable little creatures but we came to the realization that we had to stop feeding them. The only way we could do it was to go on a trip to Lake Tahoe for about ten days. We got back and honestly we really missed them but we simply couldn't go through that again. People who have never had experiences with these little guys misjudge them All they want to do is eat, play and steal stuff. I know deep down you do miss him but you are correct. They are animals in the wild. But, and I'm certain you will agree....having Roscoe around was something you will always cherish.
this racoon and your dog is your own family yet. i love him. animals are wonderful thing to relax of the hard work, but not only. they feel if somebody feel not good and coming to you, to left you not to be alone like a truly family.
I miss Roscoe. Don't be surprised if he pops back in this spring for a meal and some company. He just might bring his new family by as well. If they know they can get a meal during lean times, they will remember where to go. You did great by him. You should be proud. It looks like you are happy for him leaving the nest.
A nice beautiful video by a beautiful lady! Thanks, Erin!
Definitely bittersweet when they leave. I raised three orphaned raccoons a few years ago - from bottle feeding to teaching them to find food in streams. They finally left around the late Fall. As it should be! Congrats on a successful reintroduction of a critter to his own world.
Best wishes for Roscoe and hope he’s doing great in the woods! Thank you Erin for having given us the chance to meet him!
Roscoe will return to see his buddy.Keep up the great videos
We will miss Roscoe but, very happy for him and he will never forget his human friend. And....he will return to show off his family to you. I've seen it before. Thanks for the update Erin!!!!
Thank you for the Roscoe update. When I am in the store and see grapes or powdered donuts, I smile and think of him.
Roscoe has shared some wonderful times with a very special person... You. He's a lucky raccoon... And I'm sure he'll pop in for a reunion from time to time. He's smart like that. ;)
Roscoe was the reason I found your channel, I'm still here.
Same here
That is how I stumbled on one of the best channels on TH-cam. I was watching raccoon videos.
So did I!
Dear Erin,
You spending and sharing your life with Rossco is genuinely a great part of country living. Than you, for sharing.
Stay safe, stay well.
Hey Erin, thanks for all the awesome never seen Roscoe stuff. It sad he moved on....maybe he'll make a guest appearance someday 🙂
Caring for Roscoe was a wonderful act of kindness. You saved his life and gave him the chance to grow up. Now he has made friends, likely found a mate and is living the high life. You are a kind, loving person and can be very proud of yourself. : )

Good on you for helping Roscoe become his best Raccoon. You are awesome.
You did a great job with him and I'm sure he'll stop by from time to time ☺️
That was good to see clips of Roscoe & you. He will be missed😊
We'll see if the call of the wild is strong than the call of the grapes. Safe journeys Roscoe!
Selfless act to let him go out and live wild! Props for that.
So long Roscoe. Many great adventures for you!!! They are so awesome.
Good to see you again. Thanks for sharing your story.
Erin what a wonderful thing to do and such kindness . God bless you and your family.
Hi Erin. Very cute thanks for the update. He will come back a some point. I'm confident Roscoe wont forget you.
Even in the Netherlands, we love Roscoe.

Thank you for the clips of Roscoe. You did a great job being his human mom until he knew how to be the best raccoon he could be. I enjoyed him playing and picking on you, it showed his trust in you.

Ha! Ya made me chuckle and smile...what ever his path he will have a big old soft spot for grapes the rest of his life. Cheers!

Awe Roscoe, we'll miss you come back.

That’s great. I am sure you miss him but, he was always supposed to be wild. Kudos for the good work.
Great video Erin you have done a fantastic job of rehabilitation with Roscoe, you should be proud of yourself, stay safe 👍.

That's kind of crazy that you could even do that stuff with a raccoon but pretty neat at the same time!!!

Translated to english we call racoons in my country "Wash Bears". Because they seem to like washing their food. Just wanted to share that.
Good luck Roscoe and thanks Erin for sharing!!!!

You have and pure heart. Roscoe was a lucky fella

I initially came for Roscoe, but here we are he's gone and I'm still here.
Perhaps you could do an episode or two about your dog? She looked super-cute in your last video. =)
You said lot of times he would turn down the grape and scurry off. Wow! That video of him riding/hanging on your shoulder looked like he would never turn down a chance for a delicious grape.

You set him up real good to assume his raccoon duties. All is well.
Ok, .....the grapes in the fishbowl was friggin hillarious.
