It's ALWAYS an awesome day when one can take a trip tp the local creamery! The nearest one to me, in is Tillamook Oregon, & it's 5 hours away. I remember fondly going there with mom & dad. We always came home with a container of cheese curds to enjoy on teh ride home.

Thanks for this field trip Erin. Enjoyed the cows, calves, and tour. Yeah, audio can be a problem. Gotta come up with a RODE shotgun mic for these times. But also had trouble hearing one in the tractor cab. See what I can do. Also wanted to mention I am impressed with all the good stuff you do around the farm, especially the hard brain numbing stuff that needs to be done. And done with a smile! Loved the view of the bolts being wire-wheeled, then the perfectly manicured polished nails. What a lady! And not pudgy from my POV. So now I'll go back to the Creamery and order one of those baskets! Thanks for the heads-up!

Back in high school, I worked 3rd shift one summer at Frigo Cheese mostly in the brine room. I did pack some parmesan in the cheese cloth in the rings and put the long rectangular bricks of mozzarella in the brine tanks (they are like slipper 30 lb fish). What I did most was turn the 30 lb parmesan chunks that were floating in the brine tanks, threw salt on top and took core samples as directed. I also had to add cheese to the tanks and remove cheese from the tanks. It was only 40 degrees in there and I was soaked in very salty water. My jeans could stand by themselves when I got home!!! Then in the afternoons, I baled hay. Boy did those hay stem scratches & pokes LOVE THE SALT!

That's for sure! Good products come from contented/happy cows! The least amount of stress possible!
That has to be a lot of hard work that Ms.Tessa puts into that place? It sure doesn't stay that neat and tidy (with cattle) all by itself?! What Erin shows on camera is a tiny amount of what they actually do.
These farmers are way underappreciated I think? I have always admired them because I come from a farming family on both my mother's and father's sides. What little I've done helping to work my family's tobacco farms as a kid sure taught me how tough that farming is and it's often dangerous too! My family have also raised cattle hogs and chickens too and raised feed corn for their livestock as well and some soybeans.

Great video! It was so cool to see a different the operations of a different type of farm. I know you have agricultural, dairy and meat farms. They are all interesting to this city boy that loves the country. Since the first time I visited my in-laws cattle ranch in VA, I've been in love with that life style, which is how I stumbled upon your channel. Thank you so much for sharing all of the videos you do!!

I'm glad you did a spotlight on small business's like this family cheese farm. Now knowing the reason for the name Jake on the cheese is both sad and inspiring. I will place an order and support this farm. Thank you Erin for doing the best you could with all that rain and wind. I turned up the sound and didn't miss a thing. By the way, that was a nice touch showing a close-up at the end of Jake. Take care, stay safe and warm.

I bought a couple of the wedges back in October for my girlfriend since I know she likes cheeses and supporting small businesses. The sucky thing is she was dealing with COVID at the time and had the taste issues. :( She did share with her mom and sister and also brought me some of it that she had leftover (definitely good stuff). Will be buying from them again in the future. Thanks for spotlighting them Erin. I think it is great that you did that.

Transcript for those who can't hear audio:
1:05 - Our milk is stored in this shiny alien technology containment unit
1:15 - This is the gym where our cows work out
1:38 - This is Jenny, she has a spot on her head that looks like the state of Ohio
1:51 - This cow has more white spots, which means its milk has more butterfat. Not a lot of people know that
2:16 - The cow in the back is in solitary confinement for insolence
2:25 - You push this button in its forehead and it starts making milk
2:38 - These smaller cows make the 8oz cartons for children's lunches
3:01 - On some days we feed cows Cap'n Crunch. It gives the milk that "3rd bowl of cereal" vanilla taste you love at breakfast!
3:15 - COW: "You, uh, got any more of that? Can I see? Let me see. Let me SEE! Oh, OK. Thanks."
3:43 - This is Lonnie our prize chocolate milk cow
4:53 - This is the cow's hot tub
5:00 - Christmas-themed cheese aging in time for your family holiday!
5:23 - This is the box where we keep the leprauchan locked up - oh no he got out!
5:39 - This is our deflated kickball storage area
    5:59 - This actually weighs 118lbs
8:03 - These cows are small and don't produce any milk but they are adorable so we keep them around.
    8:15 - "Eggroll!"
8:50 - I keep pushing the milk button on this one but no milk comes out
10:40 - That calf stole my ring!
10:50 - We call this one Crazy Eyes
Just kidding this was a nice tour ladies more videos like this in the "off season" are great!

I did like how they have their Free Stalls Setup compared to Almost All Free Stall Barns these Days, A Lot MORE Room Per Cow and I like that! I couldn’t tell if they were Bedded with Sand or Sawdust, it looked like Sand. I know the Calves were bedded with Sawdust from what I could see. You can tell that those Cows are Well Taken Care Of giving how Friendly they were, Not Skidish at all.

    Hello from Germany,
Thanks for the tour! The products directly from the farms are the best there is. Even if a similar product is offered in the supermarket, it is nowhere near as good as a directly marketed product. Even if these are "just" potatoes, the quality is usually much better. Unfortunately I live a little too far away to try the cheese, but I plan to travel to the USA one day. Will take a while, at the moment it would be better to refrain from doing so. I like to watch your interesting videos. You can always learn something from it. Thank you,
    stay healthy!
