      You're not really understanding what I'm getting at here...@@Lronhoyabembe Assetto Corsa is marketed as a sim becauae of its physics, and the GUI apps are there to show you information while you race, like lap times, tire info or other vital things that might not be visible in certain cars (Road cars and classic racers don't have that kind of info available on the dashboard, so UI apps can be helpful for them)

      @@clues32 A good simulator as you like to call RBR actually has realistic sliding physics... and you should play EA WRC because the powerslide physics are way more realistic... the car has weight in EA WRC which stops the excessive slide just like in real life... also you can powerslide based on throttle management and going into corners with a lot of speed which is also realistic...
      so combine this with the 2023 graphics, immersion, better multiplayer, a good career mode and actually real roads as stages and the answer is simple... you still play RBR because you're a snobby hipster that wants to advertize that he's "better"...
      But whatever... RBR fanboys are literally a cult... they have decided that RBR is reality no matter what and whenever another game exists they take out the pitchforks...

      RBR's got a certain , "visual consistency" that allows it to still look "real" compared to every single game today that tries to look photoreallistic , i can't really put my finger on why that is , but sometime less is more.
      Like Gran Turismo 3 , it still looks real good today despite not being a photorealistic game

      Artistic direction. RBR lacks graphics fidelity, but has a very natural and beautiful “vibe”. Snowy stages with bad weather feel 10x more immersive than Dirt Rally or EA Wrc, the sky colors and grey haze are just perfect.

    RBR was already old when I first played it, so I am not even coloured by nostalgia. This game is just unmatched in any other rally game I've seen or played. _Now_ it gives me nostalgia because I haven't played it in years. I'd always watch the replays and it felt by far the closest to watching the real thing. The cameras, and that feeling of out-of-control speed and danger... I haven't seen done better in any game. Just goes to show that you can throw all the money you want at something at it won't guarantee a good product. On the other hand, a small team of passionate devs who have a clear vision, knowledge, and understanding of the physics of what they are trying to create... that's where you get something special.

I've been watching EA WRC videos, looks nice and fun, but its not realistic. No difference between grass, rocks dont exist literally, everything is just smooth non stop. In RBR u just feel everything trough wheel, and it like in real life. There are a lot of "side by side" videos of RBR vs REAL LIFE runs, and u can actually see that acelleration, braking, physics, shifting is EXACTLY THE SAME like in real life runs, which is mind blowing. Why? Because racing games are a niche within video games. Simracing is a niche within racing games. Simrally is a niche within simracing. Fact of the matter is, making a TRUE simulator is not only difficult, it appeals to a pretty small market. Major video game companies today have incredibly high demands for how much a title has to earn over its life. It's one reason why all the best simulators like Assetto Corsa, rFactor, RBR, Automobilista, et. al. started from smaller outfits filled with enthusiasts.
      We'll never get a true simulator of any kind from companies like EA/Codemasters today. Just isn't going to happen. My one hope of the future kind of lies in the upcoming Assetto Corsa 2. If it also happens to also have some really good dirt physics and it continues to be as moddable as AC1 is today, Kunos could position themselves as the absolute simracing (tarmac or dirt) title on the market, only ceding some ground to titles like iRacing for something like online and ranking systems. I seriously doubt this is actually going to happen, but I gotta hope.

    sure they can scan some great looking and sounding car models which is cool and make a decent game in general, but they would never go to this extent in detail on stage accuracy and other details. there isnt that level of passion and/or the time and resource to do it. The first sims were designed for game play and physics. Lets be honest year after year each new rally sim is the same cars over and over, the same special stages over and over. Selling a so called new season which could have been a minor update. Smoke and mirrors. Both RBR ana AC have an extended life do to the moding community. Most for the love of the game not milking it for money. The moding community are creating what they would like to see, as fellow gamers, little things they feel are missing.

      Hmm, I'm surprised to read this. Because my impression of the physics in EA WRC is that it feels like DR2.0 with more grip. How you can find EA WRC is reminiscent of RBR's handling blows my mind. RBR unless you load your front wheels you have little to no grip. In EA WRC you have to fight the car for it to get into a drift, and the car starts fighting you because it feels like it hates being in a drift and will recover to grip instantly if you aren't pushing it to the max and beyond.
      If anything WRCG has handling that has more similarities with RBR than EA WRC or DR2.0.

      . The underlying design may be completely different but my inputs are the same in RBR and EAWRC but WRC is more forgiving.

      But yeah, I'm literally blown away by your reply. To make a rather harsh analogy. In DR2.0 & EA WRC I feel like I'm driving a tank, and if I don't use the handbrake very aggressively I find it's way too hard to sustain a drift in a long hairpin or turn. The car just always snaps back to grip.
      And if I try to keep my handling of RBR applied, I'll find myself constantly over counter steering, simply because the car recovers way too quickly. So if it's recovering while I'm counter steering it just throws me off the racing line.

      You should try the F1 cars in Automobilista 1, that is the best I ever tried. Too bad it's quite dated now, there are quite a bit of mods and fan made tracks. But the feel, oh boy it is lovely with sick sound to back it up.

      @@messiahshow Oh sure. That's why I bought it in first place. It is good. But when you have AC properly set up, it's even better. Trust me. But when you build a season in AC you absolutely HAVE to have all proper settings, proper tracks (with good ai) and everything 100%. AC can have slow ai tracks and bad cars which absolutely ruin the experience. It's very delicate package. But something like RSS 1990 and ASR 1991 are amazing with proper track packs. Check my channel. I have uploaded some AC F1 videos there. Cheers.

Sound wise as well because I get a hard on from the F1 sound in AMS 1, not sure how the sounddesigner screwed it up so much in AMS2 but he did, he cleaned up the audio too much, removed all these raw bells and whistles that bring immersion.
      Thank you for the tip, I need to look deeper into AC, I know a friend have always been on me about the grandeur of AC and it's mods. Just never had the energy to dig into it especially since I don't have a simrig yet but I'm about to get one very soon.

      People just think that rally cars should be destroyed, flipped over and be uncontrollable all the time because you need to "fight the car" to be realistic... FUCK NO!!!! If you needed to fight the car all day real life drivers would never finish a fucking event!!!

    • @zwjna
      @zwjna 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Well, yes. But some people is saying that EA WRC has more realistic physics than RBR, which is definitely not true. Most importantly, grip is extremely high in the game. The usual argument, that the real Rally1 and WRC cars are "insanely grippy", can't be used here. Watching a few real onboards with a good camera location and FOV is enough to realize how much slower the real cars are, and how less grippy. The Dirt Rally games, which includes EA WRC, even have a gimmick which makes the car lose a lot of speed/inertia right when you put it sideways. The real cars slide endlessly when the drivers fail to deliver the timings correctly during a slide - bad rotation, bad balance, throttle applied in the wrong moment or wrong amount. In the DR/EA WRC games sliding and staying on the road is way easier.

    • @M3LKS
      @M3LKS 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      I agree, Fanboys need to understand settings... I don't feel too much grip and talking about real cars... For me it feels like a real car which I am driving almost every day like most of us... Proper FFB, bass shakers. If somebody is not psychologically related with RBR... I think most of people would say it's similar actually but with shitty anti-immersion everything else than FFB.
