RBR vs Real Life | Onboard WRC 2022 New Zealand Shakedown

Thought the stage looked familiar, and sure enough, I was right. Here is a comparison video of the in-game stage and the real life stage. Notice how similarly the car in RBR behaves to real life, this game really puts modern rally sims to shame.

RBR is the real rally sim.
I don't feel like I am driving actual car when I play WRC 10 or DIRT RALLY 2.0
Only RBR gives me reasonable physics and feeling
Im so happy that we have at least one rallysim that really is enough realistic, not simcade like others..
Yea it's a shame. Kinda curious if you were to choose WRC or DiRT games which one will you chose?
@@G.Wee_Rallying Maybe Dirt, BUT im not played the newest WRC games, so im not sure wich one i could choose. Looks like WRC games has better detailed stages. Codemaster has WRC license from next year, im quite hyped about that.
One more thing, Maybe one of the biggest problem with these games(WRC, DIRT)is that there are too little amount of stages, it gets boring quickly 😴
@@finnishperch Agreed. I'm not so optimistic about WRC being handed to codemasters because it could mean horrible physics. Furthermore, codmasters has been bought over by EA, whatever they make could be just a cash grab. We'll see soon I guess

Do you guys consider the Dirt physics to be worse than WRC?
A little bit of more cosmetics customizations on the stage and will look just like the real thing.

RBR is one sim that really deserves a sequel, but we won't have because devs only care about it being accessible for the average joe. Old Dirt 2 physics were more interesting and fun than current WRC physics, and the later is supposed to be more realistic...but still falls flat compared to RBR, so it is neither fun or realistic, a trait that sadly I am seeing too much in recent racing games.

Comparing dirt to wrc, I think dirt as far better Physics then wrc yes wrc is more pretty and more destinations but I much prefer to have better physics but none of them can even in the slightest be compared to RBB ,RBB is on a level of its own

Yea, I use reshade. Helps to breathe a bit of life to the graphics.
@@G.Wee_Rallying I tried to reshade and for me it didn't look good out-of-the-box and I didn't have the time to tinker with it. Are there good setups that one can copy from somewhere?

What is the name of the stage. Im doing hotlap on everystage... RBR puts a smile on my face every damn time i boot it up.
Its Inland Road Shakedown. But why hotlap in rally? The less you know the stage the more fun you have!

also, the IRL stage looks like tarmac most of the time , is it the camera?

Gravel in real life can be much more compact and isn't just a texture. You can see in real life how overgrown the gravel is becoming and uneven it is on places versus how much more even a tarmac surface would be. Also the reflections of gravel in the real life footage make it more apparent. Stock RBR or even with some reshades you can't get that sort of thing. Tarmac would be much more dull with little reflections.
You're insane man, but it is kinda funny how the RBR car slides a bit more than the real thing. Something I wish they'd change for NGP8 is a bit more grip because judging by the posts/comments I could find across the internet, RBR seems to have less grip than what you get IRL
Really? I always felt the grip was ok. I do however, believe the car's behaviour in terms of reacting to steering input and understeer/oversteer to unrealistic. The car is still able to spin out at hairpins even with a 50:50 front to rear differential split. When I used my experience in this game that time I drove a cross kart, I pulled the handbrake too little and released it too early on hairpins anticipating the car to spin as much as NGP 7, I ended up rotating too little on hairpins. The developers have heard about this and I have brought it up to them too. They still believe what they made is realistic, with workerbee, the creator of NGP saying it's a "skill issue". I doubt it will change so I hope Codemasters comes up with something better than this.

Depends on driving style and car setup too don't forget. :) but yes, hopefully as time goes on the physics continue to get better as they have been doing. All this being said, I can't wait till a modern game challenges RBR.

It is, but the focus is different. Codemasters' Colin McRae Rally and later DiRT have always been simcadey. It's focus is to make a rally game, meaning that they focus on the amount of content good sound and an all around polished game. RBR is made with simulation in mind, that's why it doesn't have many stages or cars. You can compare the vanilla RBR to CMR2005 and see what I'm talking about. The difference is not as big as it was but DR2 still has more accessible physics. You can compare it like assetto corsa (RBR) to the F1 games (DR2) too.

The spec of grass on the left side of the road in ihe 31st corner ,is not properly placed and lit and doesnt cast proper shadows . So hard pass for me ,not realistic enough arcade turd
