With RBR, surviving a stage feels like an accomplishment. Rallysimfans adding a season mode in the latest version is great, I look forward to them bringing more classes and allowing non standard stages to be used. VR in RBR is absolutely wild, doing a rallysimfans online rally in VR is just so great. EA WRC I still find fun, but there is no sense of danger in it like RBR.
EA WRC is almost UNPLAYABLE in VR with 3080+5800x3d+Pico4, yet in RBR RSF I have absolutely amazing clarity, so yes... even in graphic department RBR is much better.
@@viktorianas I have a 7800x3d and 4090 with a pimax crystal. In eawrc I have to have it at 80% resolution and some graphics turned down. RBR looks way better in vr.
dr2.0 feels way more dangerous than WRC too, you clip the side? Puncture. Sense of speed is great too in cockpit/dash. You're also constantly fighting the road/bumps/camber too. You need to be very careful going over the massive jumps/bumps. In WRC, it feels like all stages are tarmac with different graphics on top. You cannot flow into cambers like 2.0, it's one of the most glaring issues for me.
In every similar video people tend to forget (or don't know) about DR 1.0 with physics MOD, probably the best blend of fun and realism in sim racing history, the only issue was a very limited content in DR 1.0...
I haven't tried this mod. Sounds very interesting. Thanks, I'll definitely have to test it. In general, even without the mod, Dirt Rally is the best game from Codemasters in terms of physics.
@@viktorianas Thanks for the name of the mod. I will definitely try it. In turn, I also want to recommend the WRC 8 physics mod, which is located on the "overtake" website. It is quite comprehensive and improves FFB and graphics as well. And it feels really, really cool.
In the end if you want to have the must fun, then EA Sports WRC is your game. However if you want the most raw version of rallying where you will have to put in the work to get better then RBR is your game.
WRC killed my ability to have fun with the game, and I loved DR2. It managed to destroy my favourite features of the 'game' (varied, uncomplicated 'career', online dailies) and left me with underwhelming visuals for 2024 (not to mention the stuttering and horrible 'fog' effect) and a damage model that takes all the fun out of actually achieving anything.
For me, the problems of RBR are graphics, mods and note système. I'm actualy an Xbox player and since a long time : for me : mods are impossible : graphics mods, cars mods, physique mods etc… It's why i'm oblige to play at game like DR2.0 or EA WRC because they are the only rallys game with à big accessibility. All this are the same for Assetto Corza (1)… Do you have eventuels solutions for me without change my Xbox for a PC ? (I have à Serie X buy there are 1 year 😅😂)
yeah, some rbr footage is damn near photo realistic. it gets the colour tones and grading etc correct. ea wrc looks pretty (although not as pretty as dr1, dr2.0 or wrc generations) but it sure as heck doesnt look realistic.
i don't have ea wrc but vr in rbr is perfect. vr in dirt rally 2.0 is horrible, the car bounces around while your sitting positing stay fixed. So if the car tilt 45 degrees, your sitting position remains upright which makes me feel disconnected from the car. (maybe there is a setting to fix that i am not aware of). Hopefully this ain't the case with ea wrc.
Agreed. Unsubbed and "Don't recommend channel" ticked. Was an avid viewer BECAUSE of the internaional/European feel of what was a very cool channel with a genuine personal feel to it. Came back to show my son how a channel can go from highly watchable to ruined with one silly decision, then saw your comment. If I want fakery I'll watch Ken Tamplin.🤣
I'm also convinced that RBR is super easy to set up. My dd wheel worked perfect with only assignment of the axis. Only thing that really need to be done is to download some good pacenotes and codriver voices as default ones are terrible. It's just copy paste some files.
I got RBR for myself, but i also have dirt2.0 for my friends to play when they come home. I personally enjoy more the "arcadey" experiencie with firends. they crash a lot and the damage model is much more forgiving. and from time to time i jump into Dirt rally just to put on some music and drive like a maniac. I feel like its the difference between a realistic tactical shooter and a arcade battlefield/cod game. you can enjoy both, depends on the day, time available and mood!
However, no developer pursued the realism of RBR. Rather, after RBR, the number of arcade-like rally games increased. Good games do not necessarily lead to good results.
Thanks for the video, Ea wrc is now on sale but thanks to your video and what I read about the antichest.. I think I'll keep my money for now. Do you plan on comparing rbr with beamng as well anytime soon?
You're welcome. There have been rumors for months that a rally version of BeamNG is being worked on. If these rumors are converted into a real rally project based on this game, then of course I will make a comparison. But at the moment there are no such plans.
@@imagineracer wow, would that be part of beam ng, or a separate game? if they made a separate rally only game, from the ground up using what they learned making beam ng. and with vr performance in mind from the beginning. that game could probably be the first real rbr competitor. they would need to work on their visuals though. beam ng has always had pretty poor visuals. it is largely open world though, so i get why.
I love RBR but also check out WRC Generations because that of all the rally games out there comes the closest to an authentic RBR experience because those developers just got it in the end, my dear AI narrator friend.
Thanks for the recommendation. I've already tested this mod, tomorrow there will be a video about it on the channel. Sorry for the inconvenience with the voice.
And don´t forget the promised - but apparently abandoned - triple screen support for EA WRC. It´s a mess with triples - and RBR / rallysimfans delivered this feature a couple of months ago. It´s hilarious, that modders can do some things better, than EA.
yip. no triple screen. and what is essentially fake vr support. because yes they promised it, and yes they delivered it, but is it usable? absolutely not.
I have to point out an error a lot of people seem to make when talking about Unreal Engine. UE is unbelievably good at graphics, and can produce photorealism. The reason EA WRC looks the way it does is mainly because of the artists working on the game. And also when you use an engine like UE, it doesn't have as much of an inate "look" as people seem to think. You have a lot of options to play with, and the artist will play a huge role. Just look at the some of the newest stages in RBR. They use the same engine, but the artists manage to create, at times, photorealism out of the same engine used for the original stages.
So I don't blame Unreal Engine for worse graphics (I've seen what its potential is capable of). What I mean in the video is that due to the transition to a new engine, EA WRC is very poorly optimized and there were many bugs when the game was launched. If Codemasters had continued working with Ego (the engine they had been working with for over ten years), these problems might not have happened. And previous experience would have allowed them to achieve a better result. But this is all just talk. We don't know what's going on inside the company, and what state the company is in now. Everyone complains that after the company was bought by EA, the quality of Codemasters products became worse.
I have a PC worth 2600€, and EA WRC still has shuttering problems and lag. I can't reach 90 FPS on low settings!! In Dirt Rally 2.0, I have all settings on high, and I have had 160+ FPS!!
Honestly i doubt that, im not a EA fan, but i used to run the game pretty good with a rtx 2060 and i now run the game on ultra graphics with a 4070 super, either with monitor or vr
While i agree that optimization in EA WRC need some work, Dirt Rally 2.0 dont have anywhere near as detailed graphics as EA WRC. I got a pretty beefy pc, and at 1440p resolution, with upscaling set to ultra performance, and settings turned down pretty low, i get somewhere around 170-180fps on average (lowest ive seen is about 135, and highest is around 215). Even with such low settings, i still think it looks better than Dirt Rally 2.0, where i only get 145fps on average with the "high" preset, at the South Morningside track in Scotland (maybe its higher on other tracks?). My pc: CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7900 GPU: Nvidia RTX 4080 Super RAM: 64GB 6000MHz
Thanks there is a sale for Dirt rally 2.0 For 6$ in my region for the GOTY edition, it really looks better in the graphics department my last rally game was dirt 3 so really exited for this one
I was starting my simracing journey around year 2008, and for me EA WRC is more difficult because of unnatural car behavior. I can't deal with strange arcade physics. In RBR after crash I always know where I made a mistake. In EA WRC have no idea what is happenig with the car.
Yeah, good point. To be honest, I had a similar phrase in the script. I wanted to say it like: "When you lose control of the car in RBR, you clearly understand that it is your fault. When you lose control of the car in EA WRC, you feel like it is the game's fault." So yes, pretty much the same thoughts.
Yes, I've heard about it, but I haven't tried this mod yet. I tried rally stages in AC before, Semetin in particular, and I didn't like it very much. But here, as I understand it, there is a whole mod: physics, surfaces, rally cars. It is very interesting.
Ive never tried RBR, but IMO, the handling and physics in EA WRC feels more realistic and detailed than both Dirt Rally 2.0 and WRC 10. The graphics in EA WRC also adds a lot to the immersion, with relatively high level of detail in terrain and foilage, natural looking colors, and good lighting. IMO by far the best graphics i have seen in any rally game. My main complaint about EA WRC is that it doesnt get very dark at night. Another thing is that the game seem a bit too fogiving when you change to "hardcore damage" (which is supposed to be "realistic"). This being said, im sure rally cars are built to be much stronger than your average family car, so maybe im just underestimating it..? As for all the complaints about optimization, this game has pretty detailed graphics compared to other rally titles, so it obviously requires at least a mid range pc to give a decent experience. With my old RX 6600 XT gpu, i thought it was barely playable after i turned down graphics extensively. I now got a Ryzen 9 7900, 4080 Super, 64GB DDR5, and at 1440p native resolution, with maxed settings, im still only getting around 60fps. However, settings car reflections and shadows to ultra low takes it up to around 115 (on average, in cocpit view, on the Monte Alloradu track in Rally Mediteraneo, with "overcast dry" weather). With further tweaking (see settings below) i get around 160fps on average (135 in areas with lots of buildings), while still looking MUCH better than both WRC 10 and Dirt Rally 2.0. Basic settings: Resolution - 1440p Anti Aliasing - High Anisotropic filtering - 8x DLSS - Ultra performance HDR - Off (im not sure what performance impact this has, but if i turn this on, i cant adjust various settings on my monitor, so i prefer to have it turned off) Advanced settings: Shadows - Ultra low Fog - On Particles - High Weather - Ultra low Crowd - Low Ground Cover - High Trees - High Dynamic objects - High Car reflections - Ultra low Post processing quality - High Mirrors - Off Skidmarkks - Off Track - High Textures - High Shaders - High Motion Blur - Off
There are as many opinions as there are people. I am convinced once again. Thank you for your opinion. I think the graphics in Dirt Riley 2.0 are undeniably better. The atmosphere that DR 2.0 creates feels more real. It's like good acting that draws you into the world of a great movie. I also like how the behavior of sun rays and reflections is implemented in DR 2.0. I have now RX 6800 XT and AMD R7 7800X3D. In DR 2.0 everything is on maximum. In EA WRC everything is also on ultra, except for cars reflections. I also saw a video with fpc lifehack about this. "High level of detail in terrain and foilage (in EA WRC)" - by the way, the behavior of the foliage and especially the grass, I have a big complaint about this. The behavior of the grass creates the feeling that it's algae and you are at the bottom of the ocean. In DR 2.0, this is also not ideal. Perhaps we'll see improvements in the behavior of the grass in the new generations of rally games.
Absolutely impressive video...this is good for people who want drive rally game and thinking wich game suit for me best...and what things are important to you...if you like realism sim rally RBR is defenitly best choice imo
there is a way to express the physics quantifiably. it is proven that codemasters' games cars do not turn from the front tires. simple! you can prove it any test. It's a fine 'fudge' approximation of arcade physics on loose surfaces but it falls apart everywhere else. And that's before we get into momentum / weight transfer etc.
@@imagineracer yes that's one theory , regardless of what the underlying model is though it is easy to see that codie's games do not calculate tire traction. as when observed at low speeds on tarmac the rear wheels follow in the front wheel's tracks. impossible in reality without 4 wheel steering, which is where the or centre pivot theory comes from, or shopping trolley model as I like to call it. it doesn't matter. On the other hand Burn's model clearly demonstrates per tire grip and vectors as any simulation should.
@@chrisrobinson82 not disproven, just denied by some devs in a forum many years back. but it doesn't matter what the actual model is, the behaviour has been 'proven' by just playing the game under 'test conditions' and observing the behaviour. the tires don't steer the car, and rear end hits walls when close etc etc. you can test it yourself on tarmac at slow speeds.
I apologize for this voice. I just don't have access to my mic right now. This is a forced and temporary solution. I'm very glad that you like the video!
The one thing I dont like is the RBR grip levels. Even if I set the stage and weather as good as it can, and change the setup, I struggle to believe a modern rally downforce monster, with advanced suspension and modern tyre compounds is gonna have such little grip I can believe it from an old 70s RWD shitbox, but a $550k Rally1 car? I have my doubts Regarding WRC, too much grip most the time. If DR2.0 had better tarmac physics/FFB and a tad less grip overall, it would be much closer to RBR
I agree with you. That's why I rarely choose Rally1 cars in RBR. In my opinion, the most good and accurate cars made here are Rally2 and Group A cars, I drive them 95% of the time. Yep, EA WRC, "too much grip most the time", agreed as well.
I've heard other people say that too, but I've never thought that Rally1 cars in RBR lack grip. It all comes down to the surface you're driving on, just like in real life. Different types of tarmac and gravel/dirt have different levels of grip and the surface bumpiness actually matters in RBR. I've never played a game that simulates real life as well as RBR does in regards to that. I think that other games are too predictable and safe with their grip levels throughout the stages (other than the Monte Carlo stages in DR 2.0, but the tarmac physics hurt that). That's just going from my 20 years of riding atv's offroad and onroad in all types of weather conditions when I was younger and then daily driving Subaru STI's for the last 15 years. So that's the game I prefer to match what I've experienced.
@usefulidiot21 i do know that RBR is the only rally sim that simulates different surfaces, afaik the grip changes in function of the firmness (? of the gravel for example (firm gravel has better grip than soft gravel) but still, sometimes grip feels like it's just a tad too low. Don't know if it was legit but I read RSF people are working on NGP 8 already. Looking forward to that
@imagineracer yep, agree with Rally2 cars having the best feel. They feel exactly like I'd assume a 300k modern rally car should feel (never driven in gravel IRL but that comes down to opinion) Maybe I need to dive a but deeper into setups but there's comparisons of RBR with IRL here on YT where you can see how the RBR car slides just a tiny bit more
I think the people who find EA WRC better than 2.0 is because in WRC it's more forgiving than in 2.0. People don't understand momentum and how the bumps can affect how the car handles and they think that since it being a race car, it's supposed to handle like an F1 car on dirt. In EA WRC, there's been many times that I broke late into a corner and I felt like I should have been sent off the track. But instead, it stops me on a dime.
crazy how my experience was exactly the opposite! RBR with direct drive was a nightmare, the wheel behaves completely weird and clips all the time, it is completely undrivable! On the other hand EA WRC felt natural at first, even though a bit arcady and terrible on tarmac, but the cars and the FFB behaved exactly as I expected. Yes EA WRC damage is a joke and the crash system 100% arcade, but in the career mode crashes become a lot more unforgiving (not RBR level though) and the game feels much more immersive, dynamic weather and competitors is a joy. That said, my first RBR experience was shocking, I hated how the FFB behaved and it seems it will destroy my DD base from that much clipping. RBR is becoming a nightmare to setup and even though I don't think you all RBR fans like @Jimmy_Broadbent are lying but it takes a h. of a effort to play this game, makes me wonder why the modders don't just simply create a accessible game from scratch and charge a good deserved 40 bucks for it, damn I'd even pay for someone to setup RBR for me I can't deal with the game trying to explode my wheel base every time.
I only drive RWD in RBR since they behave like a real car, I only play WRC24 with 4wd cars, the RWD in that game really sucks. I have played with RWD cars IRL for over 20 years.
There were as many complaints about console issues when EA WRC launched as there were about PС issues. I think the main reason is the desire to please a larger audience, which is why we have an arcade game in the case of EA WRC. RBR is a unique case of luck with physics, but a big blunder with marketing. So we are just lucky.
@imagineracer o cool! Ill have to look into getting it setup. I just got the thrustmaster t598 and a dd wheel stand, so im wanting to try what im hesring is the best physics rally racing
Love how user friendliness is not covered at all. RBR is horrendous to setup and get up and going on anything newer then a decade. EA WRC is plug and play for the most part. RBR IMO is the most over rated racing sim ever.
So you think RBR has an advantage because the game is 20 years old? Anyway, I sincerely wish EA Sport WRC the same success as RBR in the future. The more cool rally games, the better.
@@imagineraceris it not? Modded for years with no deadlines to accomplish, profits to acomplish, demands from WRC and manufacturers to acomplish, no fanbase criticizing because it's made for free and for fans? This was a really biased comparison...
When you want to compare what to play right now, you compare the options that are available to you at that moment. And these are the choices for right now. It's that simple.
This is a really weird review As someone who spent almost 300 hours in EA WRC over the year I'll comment on some things you either got wrong or misrepresented. I will not comment on the physics of the cars as I am not actually familiar with RBR or IRL rally car handling. I will however say that you firstly for some reason talk about damage models twice in the video, secondly don't seem to mention the fact that WRC has 2 damage models (normal and hardcore, same as it was in DR2.0), thirdly definetely don't say that the hardcore damage model while not as punishing as would be most realistic, still is pretty damn punishing, as a little mistake most likely will cost you a lot of time and will strongly impact the cars performance, so that you may lose several minutes to the competition. Also the visual damage model while not perfect, is much better than a lot of modern racing games, and we shouldn't really expect beam-ng-like soft-body damage models in games for quite some time still. EA WRC is definetely not well optimised, though having a lot of (relatively) highres textures with hindreds of kilometers of stages taking up less than 100gb is impressive as dr2.0 had like half of that take up 120gb, which i guess is why they moved tto unreal engine. I do hope that they get more accustomed to unreal and make either this or the next game more stable and optimised. Also you just did not mention the fact EA WRC has a built in livery editor, which, while pretty basic, does let you create awesome liveries, and that also you could insert custom liveries into the game files with some tech knowledge. The online aspect does not live via quick play online, all the semi-serious competitions are done using Racenet clubs, and there are communities with a lot of those, so it is definetely alive and kicking. Lastly: RBR I think is not available on console, which is important for many (also you couldnt download tracks, cars and liveries there anyways), while EA WRC has full cross-platform support via the aforementioned Racenet. So yeah, I get it, the main thing is the car handling, and from what I know, RBR blows the competition out of the water, still it only lives because of communities and modders, has no really interesting singleplayer gamemodes and the quality of content is highly reliant on the mod author. There is definetely still a lot to work on with EA WRC for codies, but there also is a lot of fun to be had in their game.
RBR can run in 15yo hardware, im pretty sure u could use a leftover laptop around the house and u could get into online and such without performance issues. the platform compatibility would be a problem if it was like assetto corsa or modded WRC generations where u actually need some ground to run them, but RBR is pretty much the Doom of the simracing community. also EA WRC now officially takes 100GB after the update so its not that impressive anymore xd
I started playing dirt 2.0 and absolutely loved that game. Bought all DLC and so on. Then I installed RBR just to see what it's like since it's free and I'm blown away. Lot of stages made from the modders are amazing and never to be seen in other games. Especially city ones. Damage and physics are spot on. Stopped playing dirt from that point.
We can't compare a game from 2024 to one from 10 years ago. WRC has better graphics without a doubt, the environments are more real, but if we see RBR it leaves it for ko in terms of real stages, a game is not based on graphics only, also on people enjoying it, and how do you enjoy a game like this of rally? So you have a game from 10 years ago that people are still playing today, thanks to the moderators, an example is Colín McRae has been released one after the other, improved but they do not take more than 2 years to release another and another. Without a doubt, RBR is and will be an eternal rally game
@@lassenikulainen6722 Wrong, an overall grade, regardless, always involves and must be accompanied by in-depth results, positive and negative aspects, pros and cons. This system is used when 2 or more games get the same scores.
Problem is RBR looks like a cartoon. Neither of these games is a good Rally simulator. The best rally sims are those which put you on the road for 45 minutes per stage: Mobil 1 Rally Championship and Dakar 18. Rally isn't only about quick reactions which gamers love, but endurance and strategy. A five minute stage where you shave one second off your previous best is just shite.
I haven't tried the games you mentioned, but rally raid it's different rally genre. Both of these games: RBR and EA WRC have stages that are over 30 km long. Try it, you might like it.
I've played KT WRC games and Codemasters is the same. They have one long track per country broken down into several stages. It's not the same thing as having multiple 20km stages in the same country.
Oh my god... the all time classic "damage model" argument of RBR... let's explain to the absolute brick brained people online how video game development works... In racing games the devs need to get the approval of the MANUFACTURERS OF THE CARS for the damage models and how damage will work in game... in the case of RBR the game is NOT an official game, doesn't now have VALID official licenses, it doesn't exist in popular mainstream platforms and the manufacturers don't give a f*** what the damage model is... in EA WRC on the other hand it's an officially licensed game where the manufacturers have CLEARLY STATED that they want the damage model to be minimalistic and not show the cars being destroyed easily. The devs from Codemasters have even stated that "this is not the damage model we ideally would want, it's the one we can have". But somehow RBR fanboys will have this as a huge "plus" for their game... well, it's because only RBR is so old and insignificant to modern car manufacturers that it's the only rally game that CAN have that damage model geniuses... Seriously, how many more people are gonna use the "damage model" argument when the answer is extremely simple and has NOTHING to do with devs or video game design... sure, Assetto Corsa has a shit damage model for the exact same reason (manufacturer licenses)... in Assetto Corsa you can run your car to a brick wall at 250kph and it will barely be damaged visually... is it not a sim too? Or because it's not from a big time studio and it has the reputation of a sim it gets a pass? No modern racing game can have a realistic damage model... PERIOD! EA WRC is a good rally simulator IF YOU KNOW HOW TO DRIVE A RALLY CAR... most people I've seen that actually give "opinions" on the game they run their cars 150 miles off the road, they have no proper rally technique, they don't know how to brake or throttle manage to make the car powerslide, they don't know if or when they should use the handbrake, they don't know to keep the car at a higher gear to be smoother with their driving inputs and also drive faster out of corners... seriously... if you don't know shit about driving, why do you give your opinion about a DRIVING GAME? I have nothing against Imagine Racer, he was being fair in what he's saying outside the damage thing which is a bullshit argument... but this has been a constant with EA WRC since the day it came out... people say it has too much grip cause they can't powerslide to save their lives (yes it has something like 3-5% more grip than it should but that's VERY LITTLE)... other people say the cars don't turn while they're trying to turn the car like they're on a race track driving a GT car... seriously... rally driving and race track driving is NOT the same, not even close... RBR is a great game but it's also a very very old game... which means that the immersion is godawful cause of the old graphics which I'm sorry but it's a HUGE thing, especially if you have a beefy PC and while the physics are great there is one big flaw in them. Modern cars in RBR behave like they were made 30 years ago... modern cars in RBR are way too twitchy out of the corner if you're being aggressive because modern rally cars irl are smooth af out of the corner which is why modern rally drivers barely have any crashes and can run smoothly almost every stage because of modern car technology and modern tyre technology... in RBR if you drive a modern Hyundai rally car you feel like you're driving McRae's Impreza from 1995 in terms of behavior because the way I see it the game treats both cars as 4WD cars which is kinda bullshit cause comparing a 1995 or even the 2000s Impreza with a modern Hyundai i20 WRC is laughable in terms of performance and on road behavior... Also, THANK YOU Imagine Racer... finally someone that understands what Unreal Engine is and why it actually SUCKS for racing games... Unreal Engine should NEVER be used for a racing game because it's very heavy and renders way too slowly especially for a rally game that the engine needs to render a shitload of trees and environments very very fast... They should have developed a new engine of their own... Unreal Engine was the absolute worse choice... just look at Assetto Corsa Evo and how gorgeous it looks while ACC on Unreal Engine struggles with performance and looks like shit most of the time compared to how much VRAM it uses... Anyway, EA WRC is a waaaaaay better game than people give it credit for and an actual proper rally sim IF YOU KNOW HOW TO DRIVE A RALLY CAR Sorry for the huge comment...
Alright so ill just adress 2 things you said. First of i bought ea wrc and cant run it because on low graphics i fell out of the world, so i think based on that alone rbr is a better game. Also i dont know why you think modern wrc cars behave like they are 30 years old. I can't go in-depth about why you're wrong but if you talk to worker bee on the dicord im sure he'll explain why what you said is ridiculous.
@@JamesSheldonUnofficial RBR doesn't have a tyre model or tyre physics on it's FFB... enough said... RBR stans can say what they want but their game is a "placebo effect" that seems realistic but it's not because it lacks a ton of FFB to actually be realistic... you can be a fanboi but I'm basing my opinion on DRIVING the damn thing and it's a video game, not a sim because learning the inputs is not based on feeling of the car but based on just learning the video game inputs to stop yourself from sliding cause you have no feeling of tyre grip and it's limit at all cause the FFB of RBR is ancient and it shows...
Wrong. EA WRC has extremely high grip levels, not just a little bit. And this becomes obvious when you see the replays. It looks like a Mario Kart game, totally arcade. The cars have no weight at all and move in extremely toyish ways. On the other hand, real modern rally cars are WAY more twitchy than they are in RBR. You are totally wrong. Watch my video "Proof that RBR/NGP hairpin physics are on point" for evidence that real modern rally cars are as nervous and tail-happy as they are in RBR. Then, watch Mikkelsen's onboard at the CER rally at night which was recently uploaded to the WRC channel. That car is incredibly twitchy in ways you will not experience in RBR, let alone in arcade games like EA WRC. Real WRC drivers don't crash because they are world-class and orders-of-magnitude better than you'll ever be. As simple as that. What they do is way harder than EA WRC arcade stuff, and even harder than RBR. Period. Also, are you saying that the Impreza 555 and the i20 WRC have similar performance and behavior in RBR? You must be trolling, or have badly-configured input devices. In no way or shape does the 555 get close to the i20 WRC performance-wise, nor behavior wise. The i20 WRC is a grip monster and you feel it in RBR. If it does get close for you, skill issue. And then, the argument that "RBR is old" is wrong. RBR has been reverse-engineered to its core. They have modified the binaries and revamped the entire thing, most importantly the physics engine. It's as modern as it gets, and has added features that simracers from other games can only dream about. Nikolay Gryazin uses it to train for real life, watch his channel. Tons of amateurs and professional drivers have already settled this argument: there's nothing more realistic than RBR.
@@imagineracer I’d appreciate that! Thanks dude. To be honest, your content is great, and so having your real voice will be so much better. You’ll see, ppl will love it!
RBR ain't a "sim" it's just harder due to the damage model, EA WRC is far better to actually drive out of the box than RBR. And though i do agree, that the off tacks in wrc are far to forgiving, you can allways just turn on hardcore damage🤷♂

What you are sending is an EA advertorial with reactions that they have surely been asked by contract to be positive.

Too bad lot of simmers not playing in VR
dr2.0 feels way more dangerous than WRC too, you clip the side?
To me it's more difficult to finish stage in EA WRC due to unnatural car handling...

In the end if you want to have the must fun, then EA Sports WRC is your game. However if you want the most raw version of rallying where you will have to put in the work to get better then RBR is your game.
You still have to put in work to get better in basically any game
WRC killed my ability to have fun with the game, and I loved DR2. It managed to destroy my favourite features of the 'game' (varied, uncomplicated 'career', online dailies) and left me with underwhelming visuals for 2024 (not to mention the stuttering and horrible 'fog' effect) and a damage model that takes all the fun out of actually achieving anything.
How do I get my hands on RBR?

For me, the problems of RBR are graphics, mods and note système. Love the video mate, I funnily enough did WRC vs Dirt rally lately so this is a great add on to that.
Glad you liked it, thanks!
i don't have ea wrc but vr in rbr is perfect. vr in dirt rally 2.0 is horrible, the car bounces around while your sitting positing stay fixed. So if the car tilt 45 degrees, your sitting position remains upright which makes me feel disconnected from the car. (maybe there is a setting to fix that i am not aware of). Hopefully this ain't the case with ea wrc.

I'm also convinced that RBR is super easy to set up. My dd wheel worked perfect with only assignment of the axis.
Only thing that really need to be done is to download some good pacenotes and codriver voices as default ones are terrible. It's just copy paste some files.
really like your HUD specs for RBR (at 1:50), can we have infos about how to have the same display ? thanks.
You are not the first to ask this. I am going to make a video about it soon.
I have a similar story. RBR or Dirt Rally 2.0 depending on my mood in 90 percent of cases. In the remaining 10, it's all other rally games + BeamNG

And don´t forget the promised - but apparently abandoned - triple screen support for EA WRC. It´s a mess with triples - and RBR / rallysimfans delivered this feature a couple of months ago.
It´s hilarious, that modders can do some things better, than EA.
Yeah, I'm shocked by this too. A company with millions in turnover...
Not only that, but on a game thats 2 decades old and was never intended to be modded
yip. no triple screen. and what is essentially fake vr support. because yes they promised it, and yes they delivered it, but is it usable? absolutely not.
I prefer Generations and RBRs physics over WRC24. Something just doesn't feel right when I push the car in that game. Still playing them all, though.
@@Arth16V I can send you SS if you want. I put all settings on the low or middle and still no more than 60 sometimes it drops to 48-55 FPS.

It is very interesting.
why EA WRC has no drift physic on tarmac?
Great vid, nice to hear some thoughts on the two as I also love dr2
Thanks!
A fair VS would be against rbr Vs Wrc Generations about the gameplay🎉
Yes, you are not the first one who advises to try Generations with a new mod. I will definitely try this mod soon.
Basic settings:
Resolution - 1440p
Anti Aliasing - High
Anisotropic filtering - 8x
DLSS - Ultra performance
HDR - Off (im not sure what performance impact this has, but if i turn this on, i cant adjust various settings on my monitor, so i prefer to have it turned off)
Advanced settings:
Shadows - Ultra low
Fog - On
Particles - High
Weather - Ultra low
Crowd - Low
Ground Cover - High
Trees - High
Dynamic objects - High
Car reflections - Ultra low
Post processing quality - High
Mirrors - Off
Skidmarkks - Off
Track - High
Textures - High
Shaders - High
Motion Blur - Off
There are as many opinions as there are people.
Thanks! I absolutely agree.
there is a way to express the physics quantifiably. it is proven that codemasters' games cars do not turn from the front tires. simple! you can prove it any test. It's a fine 'fudge' approximation of arcade physics on loose surfaces but it falls apart everywhere else. And that's before we get into momentum / weight transfer etc.
Do you mean "pivot point theory"? Apart from loose surfaces, only tarmac remains.
I'm pretty sure that the pivot point theory was disproven some time ago!
I am mostly a hardcore simracer and I just don't think the ea sports wrc is all that good when it comes to sim. I rather go with rbr or dirt rally 2.0

The one thing I dont like is the RBR grip levels. Even if I set the stage and weather as good as it can, and change the setup, I struggle to believe a modern rally downforce monster, with advanced suspension and modern tyre compounds is gonna have such little grip
I can believe it from an old 70s RWD shitbox, but a $550k Rally1 car? I have my doubts
Regarding WRC, too much grip most the time.
They feel exactly like I'd assume a 300k modern rally car should feel (never driven in gravel IRL but that comes down to opinion)
Maybe I need to dive a but deeper into setups but there's comparisons of RBR with IRL here on YT where you can see how the RBR car slides just a tiny bit more
I think the people who find EA WRC better than 2.0 is because in WRC it's more forgiving than in 2.0. People don't understand momentum and how the bumps can affect how the car handles and they think that since it being a race car, it's supposed to handle like an F1 car on dirt. In EA WRC, there's been many times that I broke late into a corner and I felt like I should have been sent off the track. But instead, it stops me on a dime.
agreed.
crazy how my experience was exactly the opposite!
I have Moza R12, there are no problems with clipping. Which base do you use?
I only drive RWD in RBR since they behave like a real car, I only play WRC24 with 4wd cars, the RWD in that game really sucks. I have played with RWD cars IRL for over 20 years.
WRC is a 20x better game while RBR is a 20x more realistic experinece (i’ve played both)
The big difference is WRC is made for consoles. RBR is made for PC.
Where can i get RBR? I cant find where to buy it

If you mean which base to choose, then I recommend looking at Direct Drive bases. Now such bases are quite affordable, Moza for example.
Love how user friendliness is not covered at all. RBR is horrendous to setup and get up and going on anything newer then a decade. EA WRC is plug and play for the most part. RBR IMO is the most over rated racing sim ever.
How can you make a comparison video of a game that hasn't been out a year to one that's been out 20 years and heavily modded..
So you think RBR has an advantage because the game is 20 years old?
Anyway, I sincerely wish EA Sport WRC the same success as RBR in the future. The more cool rally games, the better.
Couldn't agree more. I hope more rally games do come out as we are limited to just a few..
This is a really weird review
As someone who spent almost 300 hours in EA WRC over the year I'll comment on some things you either got wrong or misrepresented.
In the last update an offline mode was added... They put back the Rally School mode... So you can have fun in offline mode in RBR too
I started playing dirt 2.0 and absolutely loved that game. Bought all DLC and so on.
Then I installed RBR just to see what it's like since it's free and I'm blown away. Lot of stages made from the modders are amazing and never to be seen in other games. Especially city ones. Damage and physics are spot on.
Stopped playing dirt from that point.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I've been really enjoying WRC generations especially with its new physics mod.

@@imagineracer we liked your narration with your real voice and slavic accent
I will voice the next similar video myself. This is a forced measure, while I don't have access to my mic.
Ea Sports WRC is the #1 rally game the end.
Scary AI voice
unreal engine is bloated and stuff
I apologize for the voice. This is a temporary solution while I don't have access to my microphone.
Rallysimfans RBR N⁰1
This AI speech is quite annoying. Sounds so robotic
Not interested in playing RBR with my $5k computer build 😂
I guess there are people who actually think that way.
Anyway, EA WRC is a waaaaaay better game than people give it credit for and an actual proper rally sim IF YOU KNOW HOW TO DRIVE A RALLY CAR
Sorry for the huge comment...
@@sportschool3537 and yet still better than ea wrc's ffb
@@JamesSheldonUnofficial No it's not better.. you can't feel the TYRES... that's THE most important part of any FFB... it's dogshit for a modern game

That's very kind of you to say, you're welcome!
RBR ain't a "sim" it's just harder due to the damage model, EA WRC is far better to actually drive out of the box than RBR. And though i do agree, that the off tacks in wrc are far to forgiving, you can allways just turn on hardcore damage🤷♂
Wrong, RBR is the one and only rally sim. It's proven as the most realistic by world-class WRC drivers like Nikolay Gryazin, Teemu Suninen. and Kalle Rovanperä.

@@PS3DEADMAN69 The difference is that RBR is a dead game, with no commercial interest behind it and that is supported by independent modders who make the cars, sounds, physics and stages.
