Bonita Ive enjoyed your channel and love your helpful tips.when your in Texas there is a czeck community all over Texas they make wonderful kolaches .I was born and raised in Austin Texas wonderful people .Now we live in Missouri because my in laws retired to Knob Noster MO.Love the community we live in and Kansas has been great to .
Thanks so much for all the gluten-free recipes. Half of our large family has to eat gluten-free and yes, it’s so expensive to buy anything gluten-free. Supposedly it’s over 200% more expensive to eat a gluten-free diet. Definitely will have to try the noodle recipe because it’s virtually impossible to find gluten-free egg noodles. I did find gluten-free spaghetti at the Dollar Tree today which was a great find compared to other stores.
Our generous neighbor gave us a huge bag of potatoes, onions and peppers, more than I thought we could ever use. But I cut them up, oven roasted them & froze in meal size portions. They'll make a good side dish, or we can layer chill or soups on top. We could also add eggs for a breakfast bowl or burrito. I have been learning to make our own laundry detergent and dish detergent. They're very expensive in our area.
Some day, I would like to try and make my own bread with no gluten. It is impressive that you even make your own noodles! Your placemats, that you purchased on sale, were festive looking. Hope you and your family have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Bonita, little things sure go a long way. Your content relates so well and remains faithful to your channel name, “Pennies to dollars”. 😊 The money you saved by slowly adding up those points makes a real difference. Did you say you filled up the whole gas tank for 16 dollars? 🤩 wow! Our gasoline is at $1.41 Can. a litre, at the present lowest price. 😬 What kind of flour do you use for your noodles? I have never tried it. We’re a food sensitive and allergy household, so I’m thinking of using chick pea flour, because it seems healthier, and contains protein and fibre and it’s gluten free. I always put a like on your videos. 👍 Hoping and here to help you out with your channel’s success and growth. I like that you reach out to and intersect by commenting back to your viewers ‘comments.. 😊 You have created a frugal friends’ community that I feel I belong to. I feel we have similar views, things in common and certain same ways of living a balanced and happy life. Have a blessed weekend. 🤗 Sam 🌷
Thank you, Sam! I normally just make noodles with all purpose flour. I have not attempted to make gluten-free yet, or use a different type of flour. I am so glad you feel a part of this community because you definitely are! I heard Canada postal workers are on strike. That has to be tough for everything. Thank you for always liking and commenting! I appreciate it so much!
@ you are so welcome! I press like because I truly enjoy your content and find it interesting. 😊 True, the postal workers, Canada Post, are on strike. We don’t know for how long though. It might delay Christmas deliveries. There are people who still rely on receiving traditional paper mail, especially those waiting for their Old Age and Pension cheques.
I tend to mix the meats together before weighing out and freezing. So if I can get ground pork, ground hamburger and ground turkey, I will mix them all together in a bowl (with my hands) and freeze it in 1 pound packages. I prefer the ground pork sausage over the plain ground pork but either will do. This is the only way I can eat ground turkey as well, except for the links thats are hot italian flavored. I like them in the crockpot, after being browned well, with onions and peppers and a can of italian seasoned canned tomatoes.
I live in a rural area and pay closer to $4/gallon but only go through 1/2 tank per month or less. I purchase only pure with no ethanol. Gluten-free bread I make with your recipe. It was so gritty. I realized after changing my oil it was much improved. I was using sunflower oil but changed to avocado oil and it made a tremendous difference. The studies are saying seed oils are very unhealthy so I changed. I have been wanting to make Gluten-free noodles.
Flr those who are not gluten free check out wheat flour based noodles, dumplings, drop biscuits, fritters (Hillbilly Kitchen even jas pinto bean fritters), tuna cakes, muffins, and a 4 ingredient Irish Soda Bread recipie.
The noodles in this video are not gluten-free. I have not attempted those yet. I also have this recipe and my dumpling recipe in my 50 Frugal Recipes when Cooking on a Budget Cookbook on Amazon in the description box.
We pocket an amount of cash for vehicle gas to last a month, use as little as possible, and have a predetermined re-allocation of any left overs. Cash saves between $.10 and $.20 per gallon. We pull out the amount we are going to use about a block from the gas station and enter the store undervthe glsre of cameras to pre-pay. Depending upon which station, no cash comes out of the pocket until we are at the counter and rhen onlynthe ampuntbwecare going to pre-pay. We also shop for the cheapest station(s). The difference is often $.30 to $.50 per gsllon. But getting gasxinnthe wrongbparts of the area can easily cost an extra $1.20 to $1.75 extra per gallon.
I love ground pork. It isnt as "rubbery" as ground beef and incorporates seasonings do much better. Ill have to check our assorted ethnic markets. The one store in town that sold it said thst customers didnt like leaner ground pork (came in an assortment of 90, 85, 80, and 73% meat) so began mixing 50 -50% with fat followed by 60% and 75% fat; they called it ground pork rather than sausage because there were no seasonings.
@@PenniestoDollars Ground pork is historically sold unseasonably. Once you enter the 50% fat territory, you are talking ground sausage meat despite how you label or season it.
It should’ve popped up at the end of this video and it is in my frugal recipe playlist. I also linked it in the description box. Let me know if you have trouble finding it.
There is plenty of info on Utube that tells you seed oils are VERY unhealthy. I will stick to olive oil thank you as my health is more important than the cost.
I researched it before I did this video (not on youtube) and grapeseed oil has a lot of comparable health benefits to olive oil, but do your own research as I said in the video for your own health.
Olive oil is so expensive. I have been using it sparingly, substituting vegetable oil in its place. My mother in law who no longer cooks for herself gave me 2 half bottles of olive oil so it was nice to get some for free
Seems like oat flour would be okay for GF diet, I don't know. I'm making bread and using about half oat flour, I do this all the time, for all baked goods. I just whiz oats in the blender for a minute and it's oat flour. Very cheap.
I have celiac disease and most oats are cross contaminated with wheat. I react to oats just as badly as I do wheat. I can't even eat certified gluten free oats.
Love your placemats and noodles. Yummy and fun
Thanks!
Nice looking loaf of bread😊
It turned out really good!

I have not tried making the noodles gluten-free, but I have done everything else gluten-free. That’s my next project!
A pizza roller cutter makes long noodles. Also when I make Pennsylvania chicken pot pie, I cut the noodles into squares also using the pizza cutter.
That’s a neat idea!

I usually use olive to make the bread. This as the first time with grape seed and it was great! I’ve never tried sunflower oil.
Yes I bought the Grape seed oil
Works great!

It’s a family tradition on my dad’s side.

Oh no!! Yes many are cross contaminated but I haven’t heard of problems with the certified. That’s terrible! I’m so sorry!
Yes I just bought 100 stamps for 73 dollars. I just about died.
Crazy! I never thought I would live to see the day that they cost so much!
When I make noodles, the liquid I cook them in becomes way too thick. Do you have this problem?
If it thickens, I just add more water or chicken broth. Maybe too much flour on the outsides?
Use bacon grease instead of seed oils
We use that as well, but we just don’t have enough of it.
I just spend 50 dollars to make one dish!!! 😿
Oh my! What did you make?
