I have noticed over time that I tend to do big purges when I’m mentally or emotionally overwhelmed and all of my stuff feels visually loud. (This was especially true when my kids were smaller and I was overstimulated often.) Once that season was over, I would regret it and/or have to repurchase those items a again later. Now I just put all of that stuff away into a closet or the attic and can pull it back out when that season of life has calmed down and I don’t need as much mental margin.
Yes I can very much relate to this and what you said about stuff feeling “visually loud”. It really helps when you have space to store stuff, I try to put seasonal clothes or hand me downs for my youngest daughter in the loft.
Vicki you make so much sense! I watch minimalism videos where they say throw 80% of your things away. But why clothes? If the quantity of clothes are out of control and you donate/throw them out, then surely most over spenders will just go out and buy more?!? Financial waste is definitely A THING!!! Thank you 😊
I never buy a brand new dress for a single purpose event. I buy second hand then after the event I sold it immediately second hand. Sometimes I even make money out of it 😅. I do all my children’s and husband hair cut at home even my own haircut. I made myself a wish list and revisit once in a while. Most of the items on that list is not wanted after a while .

That works great when you have space for it. My family lives in a 500 sqf /50 sqm apartment, so I keep the absolute necessary stuff.

That’s great! It makes such a difference to so many areas of my life 👍
All good sense. I am trying to avoid bringing more stuff into the house, and am busy using up the craft materials that I have as far as possible.
That’s a great idea, what kind of crafts do you do?
@@TheMummyBubble Embroidery, sewing, knitting, crochet, felting, weaving

Yes so true on the wish list, that breathing room makes all of the difference for your decision making
That 20:20 rule sounds stupid
Yeah totally, I think a lot of these things are just a product of social media’s endless cycle of trends.
