    Hammond's action make sense to me. He wanted to prevent Ingen from taking the dinosaurs. The only thing to do was get enough public support to get Ingen to back down and have the island declared a preserve. To do that, he need a team to document, take pictures, and publicize the dinosaurs in their natural environment. The only plothole is that Hammond didn't tell anyone about Ingen except Vince Vaughn's character.

    I always loved when they transition from the woman screaming to Malcolm yawning and the train screeching, it's so callous. Also, I love the raptors sneaking in the grass, and Sarah cracking the glass hanging over the edge. Hate the acrobat bit. Underrated movie though, thanks for reacting to it!

      There's a deleted scene where the scene transitions from the woman screaming to an Ingen board member yawning during a board meeting. There's a deleted scene of the Ingen board going over the lawsuits that they've faced from the incident in the first movie and the recent incident with the girl and the compys. And it's also where we were supposed to be introduced to Peter Ludlow for the first time.

    • @parker469a
      @parker469a 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@LilSpookyyy Personally, I wouldn't have thought that car had a chance in hell of pulling that huge camper back over the cliff so the best option would have been to wrap it around a tree then try to manually pull the people back up. Objectively the car noises were probably what brought the T-rex's back to check out what the noise was all about so I may not have had that issue to begin with.
      But yeah, if I was surround by two T-rex I would have turned off the windshield wipers, car, and been very still/quiet however the reason he was making that much noise was because without doing that the car was being dragged over the cliff slowly. Either way the first thing on my mind after turning every off would have been to grab the gun and kill at least one of them. I would have still slowly began being dragged off the cliff again so the other would still know where I was but I probably would have abandoned the vehicle and tried to lose the T-rex one way or another. After that returned to the girl in the tree house and did what I could to get both of us off the island.
      I don't mind doing something dangerous to help people out but when it becomes a certainty that I'd die I would walk/run away.
      I can't think of many things that feel like certain death more than being sandwiched between to two T-rex.

    Hammond did learn his lesson in the first one. in this movie he wasnt trying to reopen a park but wanted to know why the animals were still alive when they shouldve died within a few weeks because of the Lysien deficiency. He was sending a few people to collect photographs and evidence of the dinos flourishing so he could get the island listed as a Nature preserve. His nephew or grandson was the one who wanted to reopen a park in San Diego behind Hammonds back.

    The look on Holdens face when Eddie gets ripped in half by the T-Rexs, and then Jen Procedes to ask, "Is he Dead"!!!! This scene is pretty impactful, as other than another death which I will not disclose from Jurassic World, this is the most brutal death in the whole series, and it happens to a good guy. In the other movies, most of the deaths happen to people that are awful or did something to deserve it, and Eddie was just trying to help. This is a top tier scene in a great movie.
    Also, Roland Tembo is the only Hunter to not get killed in these movies. Muldoon dies in Jurassic Park, and then others die later on.

    Part of the issue with Hammond’s motivation here is the adaptation from the book. In the first book, he is an absolutely terrible person, he doesn’t seem to care nearly as much about the well-being of his grandchildren (he brought them along to prove the viability of the park as a children’s attraction to the lawyer, who incidentally was a much more admirable character), he only seems frustrated that everything in the park is falling apart during his demonstration, and he ends up dying (the little chicken dinos get him.) The books are DARK. Like, keep-you-up-at-night dark.

      I didn't find JP to be "keep you up at night" scary, but it was certainly much darker than the movie version. The second book was written bc Spielberg forced Crichton to write a second book so he could make a second movie, so I never bothered reading it.

      @thickerconstrictor9037 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It really doesn't deserve the hate at all. It's by far the best sequel. The only thing that I think was bad about it, was there was pretty much no transition between the island and San Diego and the San Diego stuff was horribly rushed. And sloppy. The first one is my favorite film and I would obviously give it a 10 but the second one up until San Diego I think was a nine. They gave you more dinosaur action, phenomenal practical effects again and great cgi, Roland was probably the best character in the entire franchise in my opinion, Nick was obnoxious and Sarah made stupid decisions but aside from that I think it was a fucking phenomenal sequel but the San Diego stuff really brought down the quality. Don't get me wrong I still love the San Diego stuff as a fan of the films and the t-rex, but as an adult I can acknowledge that it really hurt the film. Had they taken an extra 15 minutes or so to properly transition and had not rushed everything in San diego, and not thrown in some silly shit like the guy getting eaten by the T-Rex making Goofy sounds, the Japanese people, and just cleaned up some stuff I think it would have been a perfect sequel. But aside from the third movie which I will probably never watch again I think the sequels are exactly what they should be. I preferred following Kingdom to Jurassic world and I acknowledge that both those films have issues but for the 4th and fifth entry in a franchise, I thought they were extremely entertaining. But this was definitely the best. And the third one was in abortion of epic level and by far the worst in the franchise.

  • @Jump3RPictur3s

    well the first one was more of a horror type of sci-fi, from this one going forward they are getting more and more adventure sci-fi and finally with the latest ones action sci-fi. Peter Ludlow, Hammond's nephew, has his own uncle fired from InGen rather than spend most of his life in prison for criminal and safety negligence.

    The guy eaten during the San Diego rampage is screenwriter David Koepp as an apology to fans of Michael Crichton's novels for altering them so much. I also like the phony movies at the Blockbuster; Arnold Schwarzenegger in William Shakespeare's King Lear (a reference to Animaniacs) and Robin Williams in Jack and the Behnstacks.
    This was actually Vince Vaughn's film debut.
    In the original novel it was InGen rival BioSyn that sent the team to Site B since Nedry failed to get Dodson the embryos. Supposedly BioSyn is making a return in the final movie along with Dodson (recast since the original actor is in prison for... messed up stuff) It was changed to a internal coup instead since the endings of the original Jurassic Park book and film are so different.
    The Lost World novel was an homage to/based on the novel of the same name by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, with 2 groups of humans discovering an island full of dinosaurs; 1 documenting them for science and the other collecting them for amusement parks. Crichton's novel ends with Malcom and Co. leaving the island knowing the dinosaurs are doomed due to a prion-based brain disease (think scrapie or Mad Cow) that broke out before InGen left.

  • @Cinemabu11

    I think this movie is EXTREMELY underrated, and while not as good as the first, is definitely up there.
    Your point about Hammond, although I understand, I think that it's completely realistic considering Hammond's character. Remember, he thought it was a good idea to bring dinos back to life in the first place. His entire character is that he spares no expense and doesn't really think things through. That's the point, this was inevitable and believable, it's consistent with his character.
    The point of the humans (not all) in these movies is that they don't know when to stop and think. In this movie he (Hammond) states how the company; InGen, fired him as CEO and Hammond had to use his influence and checkbook to make this team.
    Character traits are not inherent problems with a film. That's who the characters are. That doesn't mean they can't develop at all, but there has to be some consistency with their traits. The movie (characters) itself calls out John Hammond for his actions. When he says he's not making the same mistakes, Ian says "You're making all new ones."
    Also the team wanted to stay on the outskirts because they believed it to be safe from Carnivores. That was until InGen came to the island and mucked things up by taking a baby T-Rex which they didn't realize until much later. They parked on a cliff (not all the way to the edge) and believed it was safe, which it was until InGen ruined things.
    Also John Hammond is still sticking to what he learned. He wants to gather info on the dinos and convince the public that these dinos should remain out of our reach. He's fighting against the company that he once owned, and trying to make it so InGen doesn't interfere the way he did before, he tried convincing the board not to try and make another park like the last time. He was down to one team to rely on. That seems like pretty solid motivation and consistent with what he learned in the last movie.
    Also your point about the raptors not killing them immediately was a little flimsy to me. What you said could also apply to the ending of Jurassic Park. The raptors surround and decide to stalk them instead of immediately killing them. That's what raptors do (in these movies) they stalk their prey, and also, they are animals. Raptors are intelligent, but not as intelligent as humans, they are still animals.
    Other than that, pretty solid reaction.

    It didn't show in the film, but there was a deleted scene that has never shown up beyond some pictures, where Peter Ludlow drunkenly steps on the T-Rex's leg breaking it. And they left it there because a car exploded and almost hit them in a tree and their camp was obviously overrun so they ran off to figure out what was going on. And when you ask what was he, he being nick, supposed to do about the T-Rex, the best thing to do would have been to euthanize it. It's sad and it sucks but the good guys main reason why so many people died both on the island and in San diego. Yes going to the island was stupid and yes bringing the dinosaurs back was stupid. But they weren't bad guys. The company was trying to save themselves and it was a bad idea but they weren't like evil people. They easily could have made this film where the good guys were the bad guys. Nick sabotaging everything caused many deaths.
    When you ask how does it still have power in the operations building, they stated earlier in the film that it's run on geothermal power.. it doesn't need replenishing.
    When you asked if Carter could have survived being stepped on because it was muddy,, a full grown female tyrannosaur like the one that stepped on him, likely weighed somewhere between 11,000 and 16,000 pounds. She wasn't as big as the Rex from the first movie so let's just say she was around 13,000 lb. Even with mud, he's dead. No fucking chance he surviving that haha
    They also did not use the same animatronic from the first one. They built both the male and the female full size animatronics. And instead of bringing them to location, which would have proved difficult, they built the set around them. They did however reuse one of the animatronics, repainted, for the T-Rex animatronic in the third film. Without spoiling anything, people will frequently try to say that the T-Rex in the third film was not an adult but they would be wrong. Because the animatronic was the full size adult from this film and the script even says full grown bull rex

    Jeff Goldblum far and away is one of my favorite actors ever.
    He, alongside Nicholas Cage were once eyed for the role of Scarecrow in the canceled project "Batman Unchained" (1999), where he would've teamed up with Harley Quinn, (Courtney Love or Madonna) Joker's long lost daughter and toy maker to beat Batman.

    Roland uses the Baby Rex as bait to lure the parents out into the open, until Ludlow trips and breaks the baby's leg by accident.
    Kelly wonders If Malcolm and Sarah should get married.
    Extended jungle trek where Roland and Ajay find more footprints leading to the Rex nest.
    Ajay fights off a Velociraptor with a knife but gets killed during the long grass scene.
    Alternate ending: Malcolm and the others try to escape in a helicopter, but a Pteranodon attacks the chopper until Malcolm shoots the pterosaur with a flare gun, then they fly off
    Alternate ending 2: Malcolm and the others escape from the Island by using a hangglider in their backpacks, where the raptors chasing them fall off the cliff to their deaths. Pteranodons start to attack them, but they fight off the flying menace and make it to safety.

    So, they brought the baby over by helicopter before the ship showed up.
    How did the adult male T-Rex break out of it's containment, climb up the small stair case into the helm and eat a guy inside without destroying anything? And then it just willingly went back into the cargo hold and allowed the lid to close? Likewise, how did the guy closing the cargo hold's lid die if the T-Rex was back inside the cargo hold?
    The whole "The T-Rex ate everyone on the ship" thing always bothered me. None of the logistics makes any sense.

    "Don't run into the tall grass! DON'T RUN INTO THE TALL GRASS!!!" < Proceeds to run into the tall grass> 🥴
    I actually just watched this last week. While rewatching the scene with Sarah while she's hanging off the roof with the raptor, she falls to the "ground".... rolls through a window, lands on a table and falls down another level, then threw another window, and edit ends with her back on her feet with everyone. I know it's nitpicking, but she either enter and exited a black hole....or there's another scene we never got that the editors cut together to make this one. Anyways, I liked this movie but I always felt like it was missing something, maybe because the other 2 main characters(Alan Grant/Ellie Satler) from the first movie weren't in it. Feel the same about Jurassic Park 3 because of the lack of Jeff Goldblum. Which is why I'm pretty excited about this next movie. Bringing back all 3 main characters while also bringing Chris Pratt /Bryce Dallas Howard from Jurassic World. My biggest concern is where will they be able to go after this? I guess I'll have to wait til it comes out and go from there.

    I think people often misunderstand Hammond in this movie. He isn't trying to make another theme park. The animals on this island were already alive when the first movie happened, and were just let free to live wild. And he is just sending people there to observe and document the animals. So I would say he has learned the lesson from the first movie, and isn't trying to control nature anymore. Unfortunately his lawyer nephew hasn't learned that lesson.

But, a few weeks ago, a british family on a yacht cruise stumbled across the island, and their wee girl was injured. Oh she's fine, but uh, the board has used the incident to take control of InGen from me. And now it's only a matter of time until this lost world is found and pillaged. Public opinion is the one thing I can use to preserve it, but in order to rally that kind of support I need a complete photo record of those animals alive, and in their natural habitat."

    I'm well aware of the criticisms of the gymnastics scene and the Rex's San Diego romp, but a case can be made for both. Not only is the former a meaningful step forward for Kelly after she's cut from the team, but it's also an inspirational beat for any young female Jurassic fan who was eager to see a young girl step up and kick some butt.
    And when it comes to the Rex making it to the mainland, it's a franchise necessity. Truly! That's the moment that signals to the world that these dinosaurs can't just be cut off and forgotten. They share this planet with us now, there are many individuals eager to exploit them and should we cross paths again in an uncontained setting, this is a preview of what it might look like.
    And now, sure enough, despite that warning, we're likely going to see how that plays out on a much larger scale in Dominion - and it's The Lost World that teed that up.

    The original Jurassic Park is a gold standard that is just a great stand-alone film. But I've enjoyed all the sequels. The Lost World is very flawed. It sets up many characters and relationships ( Ian and his daughter, Ian and his girlfriend, Rolland and RJ's friendship, Nick being an Earth First, Eddy being the MVP) that don't really get resolved or go anywhere. Once the sh!t hits the fan the dinosaurs take center stage and the characters just become potential prey. But the dinosaur scenes are so good that it's almost forgivable that the story derails. However, I do recommend looking up the deleted scene with Rolland and RJ. It's SOOOOOOOOOOOOO good and I think adds a lot to their particular characters.

  • @Wolfspane
    @Wolfspane ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm not seeing it in the comments so I'm going to say it. Dieter Stark or the guy that is killed by the Compies got Hammond's death in the first Jurassic Park Book. Hammond, frightened by a recording of a T. Rex scream falls down a hill and breaks his foot. Compies come and attack the down old man and notices the venom that they have. The venom of the compies have exude paralysis in the victim and is the reason why Dieter kept falling down over and over. It also invokes hallucinations in the victim and gives you a blissful feeling as they are eating the victim.
    Just so you know, Hammond is not a good man in the books and is more of a typical evil businessman type that actually hates his grandchildren. Richard Attenborough did such a good job making Hammond likeable, that it didn't test well when he died.
    Another fun fact, both Ray Arnold's (Samuel L. Jackson) and Arjay's (Harvey Jason) deaths were supposed to be filmed but storms destroyed the equipment before it could be filmed, resulting in off screen deaths.

  • @3COI
    @3COI 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    A lot of these criticisms seem unfair. Of course the "family" dynamic stopped being developed; they were being chased by dinosaurs! It seems like that was the point. And you clearly ignored John Hammond's reason for going back to the island, which is odd bc it's staring you in the face for a lot of the movie with the small, low impact "observation" team vs Ingen's massive "try to take over the island and turn it into a zoo" team. And I think a big part of T-Rex being scary in the first movie was that he was lurking in the shadows of human-made constructions. Those don't exist on this island. This is T-Rex territory, so why hide? Plus the T-Rex's "motivations" were different. Humans came in and kidnapped their kid, so they went to get the baby back, and show them who runs the island.
    I wasn't really aware that people didn't like this movie, but if these are the common criticisms, I'm not surprised. It's not as good as the first, but it's still very entertaining imo

    If your idiot dog is anything like my idiot dog when it comes to pills, wrapping it in cheese or shoving it inside a piece of meat _sort of_ worked, but she would often find a way to eat around it and spit the pill out. I found "Pill Pockets" made by the company that makes Greenies for cleaning your dog's teeth and helping with bad breath.
    It's basically a small, super malleable treat that's open on one end and has a hollow center so you can slide the pill inside and pinch it closed around the outside so it won't go anywhere. It's fully encapsulated in a treat that's flavored like whatever your dog *will* eat; chicken, hickory, peanut butter, cheese, and looking now, it seems to be $8 for a pack of 30.
    I'm not shilling, I just have a 12 year old dog that acts like a puppy and doesn't make anything simple. I have to find ways to cheat most things with her, like boots that would fit her chicken bone legs that she couldn't shake out of, I found a type of leggings that are all connected and wrap around her back since she hates wearing any clothes but also can't tolerate standing in snow, I had to find something that she couldn't shake herself out of no matter how much she wanted to. Because she's an idiot.

Like legit irl, there is nothing that has or currently walked the earth that will shrug off rounds from a high caliber rifle. Rich white guys hunt rhinos/elephants/tigers for sport, (and of course some die) and dinosaurs wouldn’t really be much different. We get a lot of stormtrooper vibes here when in reality it’s not too difficult to hit something that large with some training and proper equipment.
