So fun fact about Omens: You CAN actually focus on the boss fights by clicking in the left analog stick. But uh... WHY IS THIS NEVER MENTIONED IN THE GAME!?!?!?
Yo, I'm the box artist for the Triple Trouble remake! Never thought I'd see my work being used for your videos(let alone as thumbnail art); your channel is one of my faves to watch on TH-cam!
It's been one hell of a year for both Sonic fan games and Sonic adjacent indie games. In addition to TT 16-bit and Fallen Star, we also got Freedom Planet 2 and Spark The Electric Jester 3 which are both fantastic 2d and 3d Sonic style games respectively that I highly recommend to everyone here (ESPECIALLY FP2). We never got that Mania follow up but the community picked up the slack for sure.
Honestly I'm surprised he _hasn't_ talked about Spark considering how it's Sonic and Megaman X combined, legitimately seems like a match made in heaven in this case...and in any case, since they play like sex.
as someone that's been subbed to your channel for over half a decade at this point, it was really an honor to see you talking about a game i worked on! fallen star's soundtrack is something i worked really hard on and i'm really glad to hear you enjoyed it :)
Sonic omens is weird. When I first heard about it everyone was praising it and talking about how it was the best sonic fan game and then like a month later I saw everyone hating on it. No idea what happened there
A ton of things happened bro, the greed of the developers trying to profit off of this game, the odd files of the Maria model having lingerie, the unfair or unnecessary long boss fights (besides the final boss which legit the only decent one), the story starting off interesting but then fell off into terrible fanfiction ideas (even some fanfictions have better storytelling), the voice acting being iffy (some defenders try to pass it off as "it's only a fangame" when if the voice acting sucks then don't do it or improve), the devs being brats and not handling criticism properly, glitches, the devs blocking people for not agreeing that Omens is the best Sonic fangame, and the list goes on. That's only to name a few of the things that had happened over the length of Sonic Omens appearance
Personally, I'd feel like a proper view of P-06, as well as the full view of J's Sonic Timeline and Tier List proper would help all this come full circle.
I support this sentiment, if only because I had no idea this project even existed and now that I do I think sn infornative video on it would be super-cool
Dude...are you okay? You are on the internet whining about "good taste vs bad taste" in regards to a four year old Mega Man video that is privated anyway. Also being mad about something I've never said: "Sonic 06 is good". I don't believe that. As that two hour video stated, I think 06 is a buggy ass, unfinished mess with some characters in it that are borderline unplayable. That video was far more nuanced than that, but okay. I've never actually seen a Project-06 detractor actually say what it does wrong other than "yOu cAn'T fIX tHIs! beSt nOt EvEN tRy!" When I could point to a multitude of things that makes P06 one of the most fun Sonic games I've played, and a multitude of reasons as to why 06 original is a shameful disgrace of a video game. I don't usually respond to stuff like this, but I figured I'd make an exception here.
Huh. A controversial 3D Sonic game that originally looked extremely promising but that disappointed fans upon release, releasing around the same time as a well-received, 16-bit Sonic game that reimagines elements that made Sonic games wholly unique in the first place, in intuitive and exciting ways. Where have I seen this before…
I do like the idea of a mini-series looking at other Sonic fan games, because there are lot of other great ones like Sonic GT which is probably the one I like most despite its short length.
I really enjoyed this grabbag style, would love to see more of it with Sonic or other games. I think it'd be really neat to see videos of you speedrunning P06, with the tactics you use for each stage.
its sure was. but then i remember how the sonic chaos 16 remake never came to fruition and become sad. but still, the triple trouble 16 bit remake was amazing too
I loved it! I know of the sonic fangames but am personally never sure about which are worth playing or not. I definitely feel like your opinions on them and reviews are exactly that little push I (and maybe others) need to commit and enjoy these new experiences!
I remember thinking that the story was gonna be the strangest part of Sonic Omens when it came out. Little did i know, things were gonna get a lot worst.
Honestly, Chris being part of the plot is the most NORMAL part of the whole game. But then they added in all this other stuff, trying to tie this into Sonic unleashed and it went from psuedo fanfic to complete fanfic with awful gameplay on top of it.
@@reallylongusername390 Chris was okay but the whole trying to reference and combine lore from other games into one big together was way too fanfiction like. Hell there are even some amazing fanfictions but this is one of those terrible ones
@@mastertjt56 Sega finally acknowledged that Sonic games take place in one world with humans and anthros coexisting. And Omens is like nah and tries to shove stupid Sonic x into the games universe. No thanks.
I remember when the team said that the story was going to explore why sonic and his friends don't use the chaos emeralds since you don't ever see them in Colors, Lost World, and then Forces. Of course, the team said that the story was going to take place after unleashed and nothing else but trying to include elements from Sonic X felt like a mess even though the metarex alone was cool and all
I hadn't heard of Fallen Star, but I loved the look of it from this video. I downloaded it and have been playing it the last couple hours and have been having a blast! I love the flow of the game and how many times the "punishment" of the lower path is the time it takes to rejoin the upper path, as opposed to some games where once you mess up once the upper path is lost forever The soundtrack is also banging and like I said, I love the animations. Thanks for bringing this game to light for me!
Probably your best video in a bit, I will have to absolutely try the Triple Trouble 16bit remake and get back into P06, maybe even try that gorgeous fallen star game too.
Cool to see you highlight more of the Sonic fangame community, both the good and the bad. If fangames shows us anything imo is that good Sonic level design is exceptionally difficult to create, whether it be 2D or 3D or Momentum Pinball Physics/Boost, in comparison to other Platform mascots like Mario, Crash, Rachet, etc. There are so many pitfalls and traps that one must avoid ranging from automated linear hallways to punishing trial error where the player is going to fast to reasonably react to hazards/enemies. Traditional platform-level gimmicks like Ice, Water, Anti Gravity also must be heavily considered as they can severely mess and jank Sonic's control.s Plus the often-cited 3 pillars of Sonic: Speed, Platforming, and Exploration also are in tension and relying on one at the expense of the other will alienate Sonic fans.
I'd be really interested if you covered any of the significant stage mods made for Forces and Generations, like the upcoming Sonic Forces Re:Imagined stages or the upcoming Frozen Hill stage for Generations. I definitely would also love to see your opinion on the Spark the Electric Jester series, which was made by a former Sonic fan-game developer and the whole series is currently on sale for 58% (only available on Steam).
I’m all for these type of videos. If you can’t get next video out, you can put another one of these out to better/finish the current project. Keep up the great work!!
Might have been for spoiler reasons, since iirc you have to beat the game as Knuckles to unlock them, which you can only do after beating the game as Sonic and Tails (I believe with all of the Chaos Emeralds?)
@@redacculousKnuckles is unlocked for beating Sonic’s story, Metal is unlocked for beating Knuckles’ story, Fang is unlocked for beating S/T with all chaos emeralds
Thank you for covering these fan games. I’m a closeted Sonic fan, so I really don’t sleuth around for fan games. You and Antdude are going ham in terms of covering these internet gems :)
J, think I read on tv tropes that Sonic X was big in russia, so it explains plenty of omens' blunders including having russian voice actors trying(and in shadow's case failing) to Sound american.
As someone who didn't even know Sonic Omens was a thing before this video, are the people behind it (musicians, directors, programmers etc) also russian?
Never played Omens but the Triple Trouble remake is so damn good, it's literally the AM2R of Sonic. Fallen Star is great too I'm also looking forward to the Silver release of P-06, I was scared the project was canceled but...well the backhalf of this year is going to be insane with how much is dropping, I'm gonna have a lot to sink my teeth into in between school
This video was really good and I would love to see more of your thoughts on Sonic Fan games. There are some other games I would like for you to cover one day that being Freedom Planet 1 and 2 and the Spark the electric Jester games I think you'll have a lot of fun
I WANT THIS TO BE A SERIES SO BADLY THIS VIDEO IS SO GODAMN GOOD, THERES SO MANY FAN GAMES YOU COULD TALK ABOUT sonic time twisted, sonic robo blast 2, after the sequel/before the sequel, all the christian whitehead games literally theres so much potential in this
@@leonardoalvarenga7572 alright you know what? cool. I'm not gonna bother with this debate, if thats what you truly think, you do you man I'm not gonna complain.
You really owe it to yourself to give Sonic Robo Blast 2 a shot. It's a 3D Sonic game built off the freaking *Doom Legacy Engine*. It's been in development since '98, making it not only the first 3D Sonic Fan Game, but the oldest, too! And it's still getting updates to this day--people make character and level mods, and it's gotten to the point where total conversions like SRB2 Kart and SRB2 Persona exist to turn the game into a racing game or a Persona title. Legitimately nuts.
2:53 you can actually press left stick to aim at the boss. Doesn't excuse how counterintuitive the Exile fight is, considering you're trying to collect energy to turn into super sonic, so you need to see what's in front of you. However you then cannot see what exile is going to do for his attacks and it's overall a poorly designed boss fight. I also didn't even mention Exile's projectile hit boxes and the absurd speed they travel at.
Correction about 5:48, the mechanic was existed for long in the Sonic fan developer community since Sonic 2 Heroes (now as Sonic Classic Heroes) has used this feature before Sonic Mania Encore Mode brought it. Otherwise, it marks the first official Sonic game to swap characters in-game.
So I played the full version of Omens before hearing anything about the development team. I had a pretty decent time (at first) and the first three stages were actually a lot of fun. The Egg Dragon fight did suck but the stages so far were fun so I kept going mainly for the stages. While I didn't hate any of the Sonic and shadow stages you could see the drop in quality. They just became more frustrating than fun and the controls didn't help at all. The first flying section was miserable and the boss was trash. Everything past Sonic's first three stages was not good. The physics sucked and the stage design felt like it was made to make you frustrated. It also took me about 4 hours to get through the second flying stage. And the final boss was really disappointing. There's one thing about the game that I liked across the board and that's the music. The final boss music is just so good. Some of the stage concepts probably sounded good on paper but 90% of them were poorly executed. Did I have fun? Yeah a bit. Is the music good? Yes. Is it worth playing? God no.
If you liked TT 16-bit, you should check out Sonic Time Twisted! It's my personal favorite fangame of all time. I replay it once a year. The game's whole aesthetic and whatnot are based around it being a theoretical Sega Saturn sequel to S3&K. It's got a time travel mechanic, but it's pretty different from Sonic CD. There's only Future, and Past, and you travel between them just by running into one of the time posts fast enough. Each time zone having it's own music and level layout. I won't spoil any more than that! But you'd like it. A certain blue metal man is pretty important to the plot. I will note, the fangame is technically pretty old, but it still gets updated to fix bugs and add QOL on a semi regular basis. It's good stuff. You won't regret checking it out!
Sonic fangames have been getting better and better! I like to think that Sega is starting to recognize their quality while realizing at the same time their own games take longer to make, so maybe the reason they won't take down any fangames is so that fans can keep themselves busy until the next mainline Sonic game comes out/ That being said, please do more types of videos like this one! It's a great way to cover multiple games in shorter bursts and fangames need all the attention they can get!
Hai please make more content like this it both boosts the creators projects attention thus leads to feedback and reactions and it's also a new form of content to make since we get to hear your thoughts. This video was very swaggy and I'd love to see more
Is Omens bad? Yes. Is the story and gameplay of Omens bad? Yes. Are the creators of Omens bad? Absolutely. But! ...it has Bentley Jones, and that is pretty poggers. It's a shame the lyrics are terrible though, I know it wasn't Bentley's fault, I mean the man wrote dreams of an absolution, he knows how to write music.
The game isn't bad in terms of story and gameplay but I'll never call the devs or team good I don't care what you say but it's a good game with bad people as it's creator
I personally like Omens for what it is. The visuals, atmosphere and gameplay are great, the bosses are cool and the music is awesome. True, there are a few minor bugs, some of the writing is a bit off (though I mainly blame SEGA for not always setting the rules and boundaries about Sonic's world and how it works), about half the voice acting isn't great, and some of the devs are honestly pricks. But I still like it all the same, flaws and all. That being said, I also think that Triple Trouble was good as well, Copeland and his team did an impressive job modernizing the game, including the addition of Fang and Rocket Metal; they did a great job of making a spin-off I didn't find impressive to actually become something cool.
Triple Trouble 16 Bit is definitely the Sonic CD of Sonic 3 and Mania. (In that CD is the true sequel before 2 even though that also came out after) It’s objectively the best classic styled Sonic fan game of all time simply because it captures the feel and level design of the Genesis games its based on. I know it’s cheating a little since it’s supposed to be a remake of an already official game, but you can’t deny that the few new things it does is spot on. I don’t care if you’re a purist or will play anything, this game is definitely canon to me in my eyes and is now just as essential as Sonic 1, CD, 2, 3 & Knuckles, and Mania. Praise like this for a fan game from me does not normally happen, so bravo to everyone involved. I also hope that this means that Fang the Sniper will finally take off as an actual character in popularity and other fan games. It’s no coincidence that all of the best classic styled fan games actually use him in some way, (This, SRB2, the upcomig X-treme remake, and the upcoming Sonic Galactic whixh looks like a sequel to Mania, so I’m *really* looking forward to what they will do with that one) he’s easily the best underutilized character from the classic series alongside Mighty and Ray, and to a lesser but inevitable extent Sally since SEGA pulled a Thanos and wiped her from existence after the Archie comics were rudely cancelled. Speaking of Sally though, that reminds me of the fact that there’s also a fan made SATAM season 3 going to be made, which is even more bonkers to me since animation is extremely hard work. Fallen Star unlike even Galactic is definitely a different take on 2D Sonic though, which I don’t mind. It makes it stand out a little more with its own identity because of that, so I respect that. I still like the structure of the Genesis styled games more, but the gameplay shift done here is a neat one. Sure it makes the game easier overall, but it’s sort of like a mix between the classics and the more “modern” feel of games like Colors. And although the art style is different, I gotta give props to the fluid animations as you mentioned. Galactic looks to have that perfect balance of fluid animation with the more classic-ish art style, but this is still a good take nonetheless. It’s pretty memorable if nothing else. I’m not sure what to think about Omens. On one hand it isn’t a *terrible* fan game from a sort of technical standpoint, but on the other there have just simply been much better 3D fan games in comparison, stuff like World DX and GT for example come up and, although much more simpler than games like Adventure 1 and 2, are still genuinely fun. The fact that a Sonic 06 remake is better than something more “ambitious” like Omens is surprising to me, and the controversies surrounding it do it no favors. Even without all the comparisons and drama though, I think it’s just poorly designed overall. Stuff like weird voice acting is one thing, (Which Omens also has) but gameplay thst just doesn’t make it feel fun is what really kills it for me. Most Sonic games, good and bad, always have some standout thigs to say about them and to remember them for. Omens though is extremely forgettable and unbalanced, and not in a funny haha way like glitchy Sonic 06, or something to take lessons from like Adventure DX, Colors Ultimate, or Origins. It may as well not even exist. It’s like what KingK once said for Pac-Man World 3, it’s a chore and complete waste of time, which makes it even worse as a video game than a broken one to make fun of. It’s nothing but frustrating work that results in nothing interesting. I do feel bad for any of the people who got mistreated or ignored though, because as far as other fan games go most people *do* have a genuine passion for making good games and content unlike whoever was primarily responsible for Omens here. That’s another thing I want to bring up, necause regardless of what dumb business decisions SEGA makes, they still let us have fun and pour our souls into something, which I can say more for than a certain anti-emulation/preservation and anti-fan creation company that uses a middile aged Italian plumber as their mascot… TLDR: Triple Trouble 16 Bit transcends simple fan game territory to the point of being an official midpoint between 3 & Knuckles and Mania, Fallen Star is a nice change of formula, and Omens is a disappointing and forgettable mess. *Sorry for the ginormous amount of text, I know no one cares lol.*
I think Omens was a necessary evil. So we could finally stop hearing “Sega hire” every time a Sonic fan game maker breathes. We should have kicked that trend down long ago.
The biggest problem with Sonic Omens is that it was designed for a second playthrough. The game is very frustrating first time around, and first impressions are very important.
I’m glad your doing pretty well J. I’m happy your doing reviews of Sonic Fan Games. I wish you well on doing a review on Sonic boom rise of lyrics. A game you could say that it like the Sonic the hedgehog version of secret agent clank. A game you despise the most in your last year review.
Omens being a controversial disaster and Frontiers as potentially well-received thanks to press from multiple expos and even winning an award is gonna be the BIGGEST UNO REVERSE CARD to the whole *“SONIC FANS MAKE BETTER GAMES THEN SONIC TEAM”* mentality. Please do cover more Sonic Fangames, I’d love to hear your thoughts on Sonic 3D Blast in 2D and it’s Saturn DLC!
Before watching this video I played Omens and got to G.U.N. Arsenal before calling it quits for the night and yeah the do-or-die platforming was really getting aggravating. I like the "webslinging" Sonic can do with Chip's necklace, it's a fun and fast way of keeping Sonic moving in the air; speaking of the fact that the camera is tied to the mouse makes for a fun "floor is lava" kind of challenge going from spring to enemy to websling and on and on. Omens I think could really be helped by controller support however, especially with Shadow since using the number key to switch between his abilities is clunky and while WASD works when you've got room to move around in it's not optimal we'll say for a level like G.U.N. Arsenal.
Hey J just letting you know that fallen stars spindash has been more balanced now but the tripple trouble has been polished to perfection, you can see noah copelands video on the final update, its safe to say now its as perfect as it can be
I like seeing what fans can create. Even if there is a bad apple at least 2 or more make up for it. A well deserve attention and praise for all the hard work put in.
If it weren't for the fact that I had watched this vid, I wouldn't have known you looked at Sonic and the Fallen Star! I think Fallen Star needs a little more recognition since it's a fantastic game. If you hadn't already, I'd recommend you play Sonic: Before the Sequel and Sonic: After the Sequel (and maybe Sonic Chrono Adventure). These are well known fan games made by LakeFepard who'd go on to make his original IP in Spark the Electric Jester. Sonic and the Fallen Star definitely takes after BTS and ATS with cutscenes before and after every zone, the atmosphere of the game, and all. (Sonic Chrono Adventure would be Lake's last Sonic fan game and it's... kinda like a Metroidvania? It's certainly unique for a Sonic game, kinda giving me Tails Adventure vibes) Also, glad you talked abut Omens. Because man... The controversy just steered me away and I had no desire to really look into the controversy or the game itself which is a shame. Game's controversy aside, there were definitely people on the team who were genuinely passionate and I know when the first demo came out, people were praising the heck out of it from the YT Vids I saw. But now it's in this state. Oof.
As someone who is a huge fan of the Infinity Engine Framework, I was not only HUGELY disappointed for not only the game, the drama behind it from the team, and controversies but also for ruining the reputation of the framework itself. A huge slap in the face for me but what has happened, happens. On the HUGE positive note, P-06, Triple Trouble 16-bit, and the Fallen Star are the holy trinity for this year's sonic fangames so I'm glad J just presented pretty straightforward with omens since like he said, he'd rather have a video where it's mostly positive
Does anyone think that all Sonic games in the SEGA Game gear including Sonic Chaos should receive a 16 bit SEGA Genesis style remake like Sonic Triple Trouble?
Are you covering the Sonic Fan games? That does it, you got to do Freedom Planet content. Especially now that Freedom Planet 2 has been released this year.
This was awesome! Quick question, would you care to cover Spark The Electric Hester 3? I know it's not Sonic and probably wouldn't get as many views, but it's such a masterpiece of level design and control.
To do that he'll need to cover the entire trilogy, which IMO is totally worth it. All 3 games are amazing almost to equal levels, even though the first game plays very differently to 2 and 3. Plus, you definitely need to play the games in chronological order to fully appreciate the game's story. It's not like Kingdom Hearts where you need to play like 11 games before 3 in release order to understand the plot where half of them suck, it's just two games and both of them are just as good as the third one.
I wouldn't mind you trying out some more fan games! SRB2 is my personal favourite (and probably my most replayed game, like, ever) since it proves the sheer versatility of the Doom Engine whilst also having plenty of unlockables, a HUGE modding scene, online netgames with up to 32 players (expect lots of lag if you do go the 32-player route though!), a very good soundtrack, super low system requirements so it'll run on anything and NiGHTS into Dreams styled special stages. It's definitely an acquired taste though, since it's capped at 35 FPS, defaults to the worse looking and more CPU intensive software renderer and has 2D sprites on a 3D plane (although if you switch to the hardware accelerated OpenGL renderer then you do get the option of 3D models).
I really enjoyed omens, thought the gameplay was really cool, I liked the story though I didn’t 100% understand it, since I never finished sonic x as a kid, I should go back and rewatch it sometime
I would be interested in videos about: - LakeFeperd's series: Sonic Before the Sequel, Sonic After the Sequel, Sonic Before the Sequel Aftermath, Sonic Chrono Adventure. - Spark the Electric Jester series (3 games, first one is 2D, 2 and 3 are 3D) - Freedom Planet series
The irony of people thinking Omens, completed in 2022, would be better than anything Sonic Team could do is quite amusing, seeing how Sonic Frontiers seems like it’ll be the best 3D Sonic game since Generations.
I actually do fan works of my own, albeit in the form of Fire Emblem ROM hacking than making a whole new Sonic game, but I always appreciate content creators putting a spotlight on fan projects, so I'd love to see you make a series out of this!
I really like how you can tell where things went wrong with Sonic Omens and that's by looking at Fallen Star and Triple Trouble. Those two games show that there is a love and passion for Sonic and they aren't willing to change things dramatically besides aesthetics. Omens on the other hand just tried to put too much in one baskets and thought "hey more is more!" instead of "less is more" and pair that with the terrible behind the scene. It was truly meant to be trash talked.
The saddest part is that people defended the developers saying “well people liked the game so your opinion is invalid” or “the controversy doesn’t make the game awful.”
@@Laekith To me at least, if a movie, book, video game, or any other form of media is bad quality wise, controversy surrounding it can make it sting even more. If the developers of Omens had clean noses and didn’t take part in suspicious activity, do you think Omens would’ve gotten talked about as much? Even more so than Sonic Utopia or Project Hero? But that’s just my opinion.
Would love to hear more coverage of fan games. One I'd like to see you cover is Sonic Dimensions, it's a 2d boost style game in the same vain as the rush series. Also though it's it's own series now I'd also like to hear your thoughts on the Spark The Electric Jester series.
Yeah, I really like the look into fan games and to see how they give a familiar or fresh spin on series that we love or to see how they evolve into something of their own in a way. Kinda like Spark the Jester. It's nice for games like these to get some shine. Enjoyed the video and have a nice day everybody!
I just want a 2000s style dark/serious with a bit of comedy story in a 3D platformer with the Modern Sonic design from Sonic Adventure 1 to now. That's all I want from Sonic. I don't care for the 2D Classic Sonic games and hate the Pontaff writing.
I once saw a comment saying omens was good and said the drama was debunked without giving any proof it got debunked, really shows how some sonic fans can’t accept fan games can suck sometimes
@@sunnysflowercrown Yeah, no, I've read both documents and I'm going to list things that Ouroboros Studio's response either fails to mention or paints a shady and deceitful image of them. 1, anytime you ask anyone on the team about the Patreon they say "oh we got permission from Sega to do so" they are lying. In the response document it shows a message from Katie (on of the Sonic social media managers) to BOLT about the Patreon, and nowhere does it say "you're allowed to have that Patreon up no matter how much content from your Sonic fangame is shown there to people who donated" or something close to that. Although them showing that yes Katie was not able to find any violations of copyright law on their Patreon does weaken Farkle's statement a little, even if Sega is aware of it now (which, judging by what Katie said on Twitter they are) the studio is based in Russia which doesn't care about copyright laws. Which means that Sega CAN'T take Omens down. 2, even though BOLT had the option to not claim Gamejolt ad money, they still did. Saying that their gonna use it for a giveaway of Sonic Origins (which was changed to a giveaway for Frontiers for some reason????) But the team still hasn't delivered their promise, and their hasn't been an update on the document about the giveaway for over a year, making it extremely sketchy. 3, Vintiru and JoH are never mentioned in the response document, now, Vintiru not being mentioned makes a bit of sense, considering how she was only mentioned in passing in Farkle's document, but JoH not being mentioned is unforgivable. And I think I know why neither of them were mentioned. Because there's no way for them to prove both of those cases false, Vintiru called the team (more specifically, BOLT) out on Twitter for replacing her *without telling her* and after she called BOLT out on his unprofessionalism, BOLT (and presumably more of the team) went into a private Discord server saying things like "Vin's only personality trait is that she's trans" and other derogatory comments towards her. Then with JoH, it wasn't just Farkle that was a victim of his harassment, a lot (and I mean A LOT) of people can confirm that they were harassed by him. (For instance, he called LS Mark "TrashDash") So if they tried to lie their way out, that would ultimately through more shade at them for being confirmed as compulsive liars. But they should've at least _mentioned_ him. 4, plain and simply, they fail to mention the time that John R1se blamed the raid on their Discord server that occurred on Tracker TD with no evidence. As well as the time that R1se called Farkle "sweety" which is just plain weird... 5, they act as if Farkle said that Ouroboros studio were the creators of Dragon of the Edge when that is clearly not the case if you thoroughly read what Farkle says about Dragon of the Edge it clearly shows that Farkle was fully aware that Ouroboros Studio weren't the creators. Only stating that he thought it was fair to assume that the studio had _some_ involvement. And believe it or not, what they mention about the assets they made for the game is _some_ involvement (I have my own theory about how Dragon of the Edge influenced Ouroboros Studio but I can save that for another day) 6, they show the previous response to the Patreon drama, which lies about the timing of when BOLT got a message from Katie. And also throws Sea3on under the bus despite the fact that on Team Sea3on's about page on their Patreon and on Twitter they make it _very clear_ that all the money that people donate to them on Patreon isn't used for profit but instead for budget such as paying animators. 7, they fail to address that Sumochkin (Eggman's va who rage quitted after struggling with the infamous Maria boss) has been (allegedly) clearly distancing himself from the game on his TH-cam and calling it "the game we shall not name" (again, allegedly)
@@wildberrysherbert3803 I recommend you to watch "The Sonic Show" video about this whole topic. He goes in full detail about all moments surrounding those events, and does so without preconceived hatred to both the game and it's devs. He fairly judges all devs actions and explains which he sees as wrong and which he deems to be a common "twitter moment" hypocricy. As to my opinion about your examples, I'll say the next: 1. They have a right to receive donations from people, who want to support them. Considering the time and effort they put into this game - they absolutely deserved to get some sort of financial support. And their way of this support is fully legal. If Sega didn't took any action against it - where exactly is the problem then? 2. I myself would really love to make a giveaway of a game copy for the community, that hates and disrespects your game, your team and your mere existence. 3. Vintiru and Farkle being friends makes sense as to why both of them hate this project that much and why they tried to take it down that hard. Bolt didn't "replaced" her, because she wasn't approved for a role, she only was auditioned for it. As to Bolt's "derogatory comments" - I'd really would like to ask you some sort of proof of it, but even considering that it would be true: You do not know Vintiru personally to claim that what was said about her isn't true. By what I saw about her and Farkle - they both aren't a good persons, the exact details are in Sonic Show video. 4. This also got explained in a said video. "The REAL Truth Behind Sonic Omens Controversy & Google Doc Drama" just in case. He also made a second video regarding that topic, called "Responding to All the Sonic Show Drama". Funny, isn't it? He got alot of hate and some "genious" level of accusations only because he wasn't bashing Omens as everyone else, and just explained why most of the hate towards the dev team is either: out of context things, direct provocations, and literal misinformation without any proof. There he added some new info about the controversy and encouraged people to check Ouroboros document to not be onesided about this topic. He only corrected his opinion about other fangames and apologized for being too harsh on them, which is admirable because this was one of two things about his original vid that I wasn't agreeing on. Other being the voiceacting in Omens which I see as pretty good, especially with the fact that most of the cast was russian people who only speak english on a basic/normal level, and also never did voiceacting on a professional level for something. They literally are amateurs, and for their level, the performance should be atleast respected. 5. Also part of Sonic Show video. 6. Also part of Sonic Show video, and he went off REALLY hard about that topic. About the fact that Sea3on only collects money about it's pilot episode and still did not provided any result in years, and when they did show a bit of that episode - it was locked behind paywall - something that Omens only did only in the very beginning of that project, and when they got backlash about it - they apologized for beta-builds thing, removed it and only left an optional support option. Should I also say about the fact that unlike Sea3on having 2+ thousands each month, Omens got fully made in 2 years with like... 150-250 dollars a month. And yea, just saying that all the collected money are going for the work of animators, but not giving any kind of proof for it is kinda... Bruuuh? Especially with the fact that they are collecting alot more money than Omens team. I personally don't see a problem with patreon in both of those cases, but if you do - please judge both cases fairly and don't be a hypocrite. 7. Eggman VA cooled down about this game and completed it on one of his later streams (at the start of 2023 to be specific). He was doing streams for different games before he got back to Omens, and while doing so - he was occasionaly joking about Omens as "the game we shall not name" because it became a local meme on his streams. He was even joking about his rage-quit and how because of that dev team decided to nerf Maria bossfight, when he got to stream Omens again. He said that even tho this game has some specific problems, it didn't deserved all the hate that it got. He also said that he feels sorry for the fact that his ragequit influenced hating for Omens even more than it was without it. Said that the stolen music thing is a complete bs and people just willing to have a reason to bash this game, no matter if the reason is real or fake. He ended this theme with that "People just wanted to make their own Sonic game, they finished it! And the Internet killed them for it...", it was near the end of the stream. But I doubt that you'll be able to check that even if you'd wanted to, since he's russian and speaks so.

The reason why sonic omens was praised during it's first reveal was the graphics that was designed in the game. But I don't think graphics makes the game look good especially I don't like how Sonic's eyes are glowing and reflecting too much as well as some unnecessary filters and effects that just ruins the experience for me. Sonic triple trouble on the other hand, is much much better than omens and god bless the developers of triple trouble for making a good fan made remake of the classic Sega Game Gear game :)

True final boss is the Sonic version of Senator Armstrong (MGRR) or Minos Prime / Sisyphus Prime (ULTRAKILL)

Question: is before and after the sequel good? That and triple trouble 16-bit?

I can't wait to see you cover Project Sonic 06 in full once it's fully released - this looks so cool!
1:27 Finally someone gave some love to Sonic 2D blast. I am also looking forward to playing Sonic Triple Trouble 16-bit too!
God no.
Nice to hear from you, hope you're doing well, and can't wait for boom!

Continue making videos like these! I like just the grab bag of sonic fan games and you giving your thoughts on them
If you liked TT 16-bit, you should check out Sonic Time Twisted!
I like to think that Sega is starting to recognize their quality while realizing at the same time their own games take longer to make, so maybe the reason they won't take down any fangames is so that fans can keep themselves busy until the next mainline Sonic game comes out/
That being said, please do more types of videos like this one!

That’s another thing I want to bring up, necause regardless of what dumb business decisions SEGA makes, they still let us have fun and pour our souls into something, which I can say more for than a certain anti-emulation/preservation and anti-fan creation company that uses a middile aged Italian plumber as their mascot…
TLDR: Triple Trouble 16 Bit transcends simple fan game territory to the point of being an official midpoint between 3 & Knuckles and Mania, Fallen Star is a nice change of formula, and Omens is a disappointing and forgettable mess.

(the Mega Man 8 bit "demakes" I mean)
Arsenal.
Sadly I was one of the people that thought Sonic Omens was gonna be the best sonic fan game… but that title goes to Fallen Star

It's certainly unique for a Sonic game, kinda giving me Tails Adventure vibes)
Also, glad you talked abut Omens.
Nice video, I would like if you could also review Sonic's animated outings.
I’d love to see more of u talking about fan games, it’s nice to hear your opinion on them.
It's not like Kingdom Hearts where you need to play like 11 games before 3 in release order to understand the plot where half of them suck, it's just two games and both of them are just as good as the third one.
can't wait for the p-06 review. its going to be amazing
The fallen star’s art style is extremely anime
As of SRB2 version 2.11 you can make the game run at a higher framerate.
Loved this video, would be awesome to see more!
I really enjoyed omens, thought the gameplay was really cool, I liked the story though I didn’t 100% understand it, since I never finished sonic x as a kid, I should go back and rewatch it sometime
Maybe schedule the sonic fan game marathon to next year considering the many fan games are there. But will you make videos on sonic ROM hacks?
I would be interested in videos about:
- LakeFeperd's series: Sonic Before the Sequel, Sonic After the Sequel, Sonic Before the Sequel Aftermath, Sonic Chrono Adventure.
- Spark the Electric Jester series (3 games, first one is 2D, 2 and 3 are 3D)
- Freedom Planet series
Ive played Triple Trouble and loved it, but Fallen Star seems really cool and I cant wait to play it
The irony of people thinking Omens, completed in 2022, would be better than anything Sonic Team could do is quite amusing, seeing how Sonic Frontiers seems like it’ll be the best 3D Sonic game since Generations.
I would love to see you cover more fan stuff. Not just games but other stuff like Nazo Unleashed and Sonic and Tails R
4:29: Regardless of people's thoughts on Omens, it's nice seeing Eggman be a more three-dimensional character for a change.
the whole sonic 06 pc project is some nutty ass shit in the best possible way :)
No it literally did get debunked, I have proof btw, they said it on a document, I can go look for it
@@sunnysflowercrown so where is it?
@@sunnysflowercrown 1 year later still no proof
And believe it or not, what they mention about the assets they made for the game is _some_ involvement (I have my own theory about how Dragon of the Edge influenced Ouroboros Studio but I can save that for another day)
6, they show the previous response to the Patreon drama, which lies about the timing of when BOLT got a message from Katie.
As to my opinion about your examples, I'll say the next:
I'd like to see your opinion about Sonic Robo Blast 2
If you want another series of sonic like games try out the Spark the electric Jester trilogy
2:54 Just Press Click on the Stick and it Focuses on the Boss lol plus get Good and this Doc Got Debunked Good Exept Bolt Being an Ass and the Patreon and the Maria Thing that will Always stay wierd and Creepy but the Thing is its Just a Fictional Character
@sk Bruh?
So everything in the doc was debunked... Except everything in the doc? Because the doc was literally just a compilation of Bolt and Co. being dicks, Ouroboros having a Patreon and the Maria thing.
@@K2niarDneK The doc was also about Ouroboros Being Dicks to Eggman Voice Actors wich Got Debunked and Area 99 Being the Same track as Cars 2 wich Got also Debunked
I still find it funny that Sonic Omens stole a music track from the Cars 2 game of all things.
If you do have room for indie games, do check out the Spark The Electric Jester series made by the same guy who did the Sonic Before/After The Sequel and Chrono Adventure fangames! As of 10/7/2022, it's on sale on Steam!
Or Freedom Planet 2. One of the best games of this year!
By just looking at the cutscenes and fanfic-like lore, Sonic Omens looks like the Hunt Down the Freeman of the Sonic fangames.
