    I´ve seen a lot of people who don´t want to get the 50th because they already have the 40th. Totally fine. I don´t have any DVD or CD of King Crimson, so I used this video to see which version I liked. I went for the 50th and it really sounds amazing! I also love the fact that the original master is there (wish it was the same for Genesis, they need SW to remix their albums the way I would like!). Now I´m waiting to see if the entire catalog will be reissued on the 50th anniversary to get them!

      To my ears, Court was the only KC 5.1 mix that *really* needed a re-remix. In that sense, the 50th was a no-brainer for me. It will be interesting to see if more 50th editions come out, with other features. But my guess is Steven Wilson won't re-remix any others. Glad you like the 50th! 👍

      yes me too, I'd like to see Steve Wilson do the remixing of all Genesis stuff particularly the And Then There Were Three album with much emphasis to Down And Out in which the heavy drumming of Phil Collins is pretty much drowned out in the mix. . . . . . . I can't afford to have this King Crimson 50th 5.1 mix now. 🥰🥰 Santa Claus pls? 🥰🥰🥰🥰😍😍😍. . . Benjie/Philippines. 😎

    How much time should pass between remixes to make owning them all reasonable? As for the photos and essays they could really be provided online to keep down the cost of the disc. Will someone other than Steve Wilson make an amazing remix that is a must have revelation? When are we going to get a stem version so we can do our own remixes? After all they have a wealth of material just crying out to be played at a rave!

    I personally thought the 5.1 mix on the 40th Anniversary was quite good and could not really fault it myself. The fact that Wilson done the mix a decade ago may be good reason for him to do a better mix if he felt it was not good enough but regarding what you get here it is only the 5.1 mix I see as the value and I personally would not say the instrumental mixes are any real value unless you are into a bit of Karaoke. I think the fact that they would hardly get played in relation to the original album would also not make this 50th Anniversary worth getting for those who are not into Surround.
    You say it also has a video of "21st Century Schizoid Man" so did the 40th Anniversary and is this any longer than the snippet of it they had from the Hyde Park. The quality of the video is only really nostalgic being as it's not of any real quality and most likely can be already seen on the Tube. So I do not see that enticing anybody to buy this release either. The other thing is that you do not need to rush out and buy it in case it sells out because trust me it will not. I only started to buy the 40th Anniversary Editions from last year and have them all now and they are all still widely available and easy to obtain at a cheap enough price. It's more than likely that most of the people who already have them will not be interested in lashing out the bucks again for this new release at all and the chances are it will not sell nowhere near as many copies.
    Like I mentioned in one of your other reviews I will get it for the 5.1 mix but I am not gonna rush into buying it and will wait for it to drop down to a better price. The only other concern I do have regarding this new release is the way it's been packaged and the fact that they have made it slightly bigger might mean that it will not fit on the shelves that I have my 40th Anniversary editions on along with many of my other surround mixes. Now I do have a 20 mm gap at the top so could you please let me know if it's any more than 20 mm bigger if you could. GREAT! review by the way and I am pleased that you do feel the new 5.1 mix is better.

      @@bidensciownworidbroughttoy4218 Depends on if they already have a decent singer singing them in the first place. If they don't then you might be happier for the instrumental version lol...

    • @LeeLucas
      @LeeLucas 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bidensciownworidbroughttoy4218 Most of KC's tracks have quite a lot of instrumental parts in them anyway. Very rare I would play the instrumental tracks. I think they are interesting but I doubt I would play them more than once. Not only that quite a few of the 40th Anniversary Editions already have some instrumental tracks included as bonus material. If KC were to release In The Court Of The Crimson King as an instrumental album only I doubt many people would buy it and I consider them as bonus tracks that should not really add a lot of value to the cost of the product.

    • @LeeLucas
      @LeeLucas 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bidensciownworidbroughttoy4218 I am not saying it does not add value I am merely saying that what value they do add should not cost a lot. For example I have seen certain artists release their albums with 2 CD's instead of 1 and the extra CD contains the instrumental versions and these are generally sold at a discount price. For example if like here in the UK a CD cost £10 they would charge you around £12 - £14 for the 2 CD version with the bonus tracks. Now that might be a good deal to buy at that price but if they were to charge £10 for the CD and say £18 - £20 for the 2 CD version which version do you think would sell the most.
      Regarding KC's box sets that come with loads of discs full of live material. I honestly see no real value in the ones they made for the albums that came out in 69 and the 70's. Simply because the biggest load of live material is of bootleg quality and I honestly would not entertain that inferior quality and they could not even give that away to me I am afraid lol...

    • @LeeLucas
      @LeeLucas 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bidensciownworidbroughttoy4218 I do not mind live albums but do prefer them to come with a picture as well like the live concerts you get these days on DVD and Blu Ray. I am not one for having the live concert of every show playing the same thing all the time and most bands in general will officially release a live album every now and then along with the discography of their studio albums and those official recordings were only ever put out in the first place because they was of decent sound quality. The box sets do not interest me one bit and regarding the quality of the video footage being better than TH-cam you are talking out of your head. I have video footage of that Bruford/Wetton era that does come with the 40th Anniversary Editions and in all honesty the only way that picture will ever look better is if you play it on an old CRT Television simply because nothing has been done to enhance or make the better the footage in the first place. Watching that old footage of the band playing Schizoid Man in Hyde Park on the new Blu Ray will look even more dreadful and footage like that does nothing for Blu Ray I am afraid and makes it look Pathetic and should not be put on a Blu Ray in the bloody first place lol.
      Now if they did what Led Zeppelin had done with their old concert footage from the 70's they put on DVD where Dick Carruthers had made good the film footage that would be all well and good. But that costs money to do and the original footage would of had to have been shot on at least an 8mm Camera and not on video to be able to do something with it in the first place. For nostalgic purposes the box set might be all well and good if that's what you like. But I personally like quality and today we are living in a era where quality is more advanced than all those years ago.
      No word of a lie but it was actually by watching the DVD of Déjà Vrooom back in 1999 at a friends house that got me into KC in the first place and the very next day I went out and brought the concert then brought their studio albums and a couple of other concerts of them on DVD. Now those DVD's are quality and also come with an excellent 5.1 mix. Well Déjà Vrooom and Eyes Wide Open do. I spent last year and this year replacing my original CD's with the 40th Anniversary Editions and I love the 5.1 mixes and the fact that KC have done the right thing by releasing them in individual packages so you can get your hands on the 5.1 mixes without having to pay silly money for them by them making you have to buy the box set to get your hands on them. Artists who do that I consider as greedy and I praise KC for the way they are going about their releases and being fair to their fans by giving them the choice and the chance to get their hands on what they want at a reasonable and respectable price. Now for me personally the only real thing that interests me is the 5.1 mixes and if it was not for that I would not of replaced my CD's in the first place.
      My mate has some of the box sets and I have heard some of the other discs in them and it does not entice me to buy them, but then again I personally could not afford to buy the box sets and I certainly would not pay the price of the box set just to get my hands on the 5.1 discs if that was the only way you could get your hands on them. I am not saying I would not recommend the box sets for those who want everything and I can understand people like yourself for wanting that too. It might even look like with what I am saying in this thread is pulling the box sets down but that is honestly how I personally see them and like I said it is only the 5.1 version of the albums that interests me and not so much the bonus material. And I will eventually buy this Blu Ray package for the new Wilson 5.1 mix because least its at a more affordable price. But to give you another example. If say for instance they released the Blu Ray on it's own with the new Wilson mix for say £20 and this package was only £30 like it is now. I would buy the Blu Ray and not this package. Simply because I am a surround NUT lol.....
