- 3D Printed Remote Controlled Dump Truck. Everything is opensource such as the files for 3D Printing and the Arduino code that allows the project to be remote controlled via phone or computer. Continuing with construction themed projects the mini dump truck provides the ability to transport objects further.

I love this sort of series you’re doing with these vehicles, we need a mini crane truck!

Maybe just leave out the background music. Not needed and just repetitive noise. Silence is okay. Use the music very sparingly.

@@elonmoishkrl8981maybe moreso when watching with noise cancelling earbuds and EQ sound quality. Very noticeable. Hard not to fixate on it, but I work in marketing and advertising, so tuned to that sort of thing.
As a structures design engineer for the real thing you showed in the video this project was great to watch. Put the battery in the side compartments between front and rear axle. That’s where fuel and hydraulic tank are in real life. Also the real ones are rear wheel only as well so no need for all wheel drive.
I’m glad you found the video and that it held up! That’s super cool that you’re designing and working on the real deal, the scale of those trucks is insane!

Welp, just ordered my second skid steer kit dude. Also ordered the dump truck of course. Glad to support you. I may just order yet another skid kit to use the electronics in my own creation.

my upgrade suggestion: give it a buzzer or speaker for some adorable backing-up beep action! which would also open the door to giving it some R2 style 'communication' if that's your jam

I already ordered the pcb for the mini skidi and wanted to order the rest of the parts needed for building it. And now, the dump truck arives. Very nice, I will wait until version 2.0 is released so I can order parts for the dump truck as well and then building 2 of each and start playing with my kids. Thank you very very much for your awesome work. Really looking forward for future projects :)

The real world size of that dump truck is almost incomprehensible. You can probably fit most of the other dump trucks you showed in it's bed. The tires alone are like 3 to 4 meters tall.
Jackie Chan had lots of fun with one in "Mr. Nice Guy".
The most annoying safety feature of any big vehicle is that horrible back up beeper...yeah, need one of those!!!

I love the o-ring idea for tire grip, I was trying to think of a solution for that on a project I’m working on, I’ll try o-rings
what you could also do for the axle part is print it out of IGUS self lubricating filament.
that way it will never wear down or bind up even if you drive around for hours with this thing.

I used to be a cat quarry and mining field tech and I can tell you that you can indeed fit 2 skidsteers in the bed, with about an acre to spare. People that haven't seen those machines in person have a hard time comprehending the scale.
Cant wait to scale this and the mini skidsteer up to 1/10th scale for more practical around the yard tasks! Super cool work as always, keep up the mini series! How about a small snowblower attachment for the mini skiddy, that would be awesome for anywhere that gets snow! Cant wait to see future revisions, and more models!
If somebody scales up one of these models I would be so stoked to see it😂 a snowblower attachement would also be very cool

A good upgrade for the RC dump Truck is maybe like a robotic arm in the bed of it for like mini tree removal, but it would be very challenging.
Another good upgrade would be a winch.
I definitely think a site crane would be an awesome addition! Keep up the amazing work!

I finally got my miny skiddy running! Using an rc controller and some dc esc's. Came to see if i could use the same tactic for the dumptruck but my electronics seem wau too big to fit in here haha

If you switch from an ESP32 board to just the module you will save a ton of space, it will need some supporting components but in general it should give you much more LIPO space.

Careful with using those pin headers, while some are rated to 5A, others are only good up to 1A, which may cause issues with the dc-dc converter

Try using Dip-n-grip or Plasti dip for the 3d printed tires. This is a rubber dip coating for hand tools.

You should get softer TPU. Hard TPU isn’t very grippy at all, you can try softer stuff but a lot of printers struggle with them, although the Bambu labs ones might cope. Or you can try varioshore TPU, it varies it’s hardness depending on the temperature, you can get really soft and grippy objects with it.
Working on modeling a body for a RC car I want to make! Any suggestions on how to get more familiarized with RC components? I’m a complete beginner when it comes to that. Love the content, keep it coming!
Hmmm well I think it’s mainly going to depend on the route you take but my best advice is to find something you’re excited about(which it sounds like you have) then jump into a specific part of it. For example how big is your RC car, what kind of power does the motor need to provide to move it which in turn will tell you what kind of ESC you need to handle that amount of power. Everything trickles from there!

This is very nice build! I'm considering printing this truck and installing "RC hobby" gear instead so I can use my pistol grip radio. There seems to be enough space for a nano RX and a small 2s stick lipo. Unless there is a way to send the signal from the original board to a R/C receiver using PWM?
Your method would pry be best, im not aware of anyway to pair a ESP32 to a R/C receiver

Rather than change the motor to a 200-300 rpm one you could just change the gear ratio. At the moment you have a gear on the motor driving a geared section on the axle, if you change the ratio there, you can decrease the speed and increase the torque. If you have a 500 rpm motor and a 2:1 gear ratio then you will get 250 rpm and double the torque. You could do this by just making the gear on the axle double the number of teeth/size of the one on the motor.
I like the way you think! though there’s one problem which is that the room I have available wouldn’t allow for any bigger of a gear on the n20 motor.
@@professorboots to get the 2:1 ratio the gear on the axle needs to be double the gear on the motor, so you could even make the motor gear smaller and make the axle gear bigger.
Now how do we get the Skidi and the dump truck to the other side of the house? I think we need a flat bed of some sort 😅
The previous kit, does it need the arduino? Or can i use a controller and mix them?
