Like in my comparison Magic 4 Ultimate vs S23 Ultra the Magic 5 Pro wins in almost everything besides the 10x Zoom. I think in conparison to the 4 Pro and 4 Ultimate they downgraded the tele cam a bit but we get the almost 1 inch main sensor now which is really great.
The periscope lens is just crazy 😧

There is so little difference in photo and video quality between all the top flagships nowadays that it all boils down to either what manufacturer you tend to adhere to or price. Both these devices give stellar results.

Good video - thanks. I see honor getting a lot of negativity in the comments which is odd as to me it looked good. I wonder on all the people saying it's night photos are bad, did they look at anything except the last, zoomed photo where it struggled. The other pics did not look lower detail to me.

I upgraded from a s22 ultra and got the 512gb honor magic5 pro, picked it up brsnd new for £650, I'm loving it so far, I do miss the stylus a little bit and I know Software support is going to be better on the Samsung side if things. Great video

Great seeing the 5 pro review and great job as always. I have the Magic 4 pro and I love it, just tested the video zoom on a sunny day here in Italy and it's unbelievably clear, but now I so want the Magic 5 pro and I can't wait for it to be on sale. As an ex Huawei fan, I'm also so in love with the software. Samsung is good, respect for it, but so dull for me. The customisation, options and the software on the Honor are next level.

Hi! How's the soft on Magic 4 Pro ? It's stable, did you have any problems with it? Did they improve the camera with any updates after you get the phone?
@@NiKoJlaY I can't tell if the camera had any improvement, except that stutter it sometimes had and now doesn't at the begining of the video recording (first couple of seconds), but battery life (at least for me) is better now actually. The camera is pretty awesome and the camera options as well. It does have a few inconsitencies for example while zooming the colours turn different, or that you sometimes see quite a poor version of what the picture will be, but the picture is way better. Also when recording video, between 6 and 8 times zoom, the picture looks grainy, but is cristal clear at 10X. As for the software in general is a beauty. For me, the best out there, but just personal preference. I do have terms of compairison as both myself and my wife have other phones. An example would be Pixel 7 pro which is cool, but no way near the Honor in software. It is more consistent in taking pics and vids, but the peak is far better for Honor for me.
@@Felix21411 Thank you, soft was the only thing that I wasn't sure about Honor. Now , on 19 April I'm gonna pre-order Honor Magic 5 Pro. There is no ideal phone on the market, and Honor isn't ideal as well, but it's enough good to finally change my 4 years old 1+ 7 Pro.

the zoom of the Honor is very nice. i hope you make a comparison between s22 Ultra and s23 Ultra including the Expert Raw and Camera Assist Apps. mby a full comparison between both devices this time? especially the functionality to make pictures of Stars in the Expert Raw mode is very interesting to me. i don't have a tripod and it was mostly cloudy the last weeks so i couldn't do not even a moon picture since i have my s23.
Sadly I don't have any of the Samsung devices at the moment

I noticed occasional camera lag. Hopefully next software update will solve this

Hey , can you confirm the magic 5pro has the same 10bit log mode in 4k that the magic 4pro had? According to Honor UK it doesn't but I'm seeing log mode and lut in your video

considering in my region i got the magic5 pro 300 euros cheapper 12 gb ram and 512 gb storage vs s23 ultra 12 gb ram and 256 gb storage... there was no contest. Also charger 66w in box - that is another 50 euros . The only thing better for 23 ultra i say its the stylus pen and a lot more resistant screen glass . Honor comes with applied protection , i still have it on, by i heard people complain about screen scratches pretty fast without it.

The battery is slightly better but not huge difference. I wouldn't say the camera is a huge improvement. It's definitely better but only slightly. Mainly you can see the difference at night and dynamic range is also better
If you can make a comparison with the two phones because the Honor magic 4 pro is received the Magic 7.1 and the camera sen to be better, the battery is the same bad as the Nokia 880 😂😂😂🔋

Apparently Honor has a full blown 3D ToF sensor in rear camera setup. Where is it? I only see the laser af module.
I'll take the honor or the huawei p60 pro before this year ends, if i can't get the the oppo findx 6 pro and the vivo x90 pro plus because of unknown reasons of no global release😢, im not fan of xiaomis and Sammys 😅

Vivo is selling in europeo but not oppo. Honor is more versatile at same price and Huawei has no Google
Samsung is the better option in all categories! Most important (for me) software support. China phones are so bad in terms of updates ! Samsung all day 👍
In terms of software updates yes I agree. For some people such as myself it doesn't matter as I change phones every 2-3 months
You forgot one very important difference between these two smartphones! Magic 5 Pro, 2160 pwm. S23 Ultra,240 pwm! One is much better for your eyes!
Honor magic5 pro also has a dedicated custom RF antenna chip for improved 4G/5G signal strength in poor coverage areas. Which is handy as the UK has sketchy carrier coverage in some parts!
Plus Honor Magic5 Pro the only current smartphone with a individual WiFi chip (not a duel WiFi/Bluetooth chip like the S23 Ultra etc) for improved WiFi connection and WiFi speeds.
Just got the honor magic 5 pro a few days ago. I spend a lot of my free time consuming texts and media and really notice the difference. Much easier on my eyes and less fatiguing!
i stopped at @1.30 when i saw the jellow effect on the honor !
S23 ultra Photos look sharper and more balanced any time when looking at details. The honor on the other hand makes it Wow in terms of brighter contrast and colors, but only until you are paying attention to the details.

S22 Ultra, s23 ultra and honor magic 5 pro all amazing devices with incredible camera. I think it's all depends on people's preference. I picked honor as really liked the wider selfie camera. Way better for vlogging. Colour accuracy was better most of the time in my opinion. Samsung has better telephoto lens, battery and software.

No but it's still a great camera
@@DariuszTech The main problem why I can't use a Samsung is Pulse-Wide Modulation. My eyes are so sensitive to that and I just feel pain in my eyes when I use a Samsung device. That's why my only option in UK is Honor, they're the only one who sell android top flagman 512G and with a good calibrated display.
Just got the magic 5 pro. Camera is pretty good but also very inconsistent. Problem for me is the software which feels like a significant step back compared to my 5 year old lg. Dont know what to do really, maybe i change it for the s23ultra or pixel 7 pro

I own honor magic 5 pro ,s23u,pixel 7 pro and iPhone 14 pro max(which i am going to sell cos its my least favourite one) . Whats incontinent about camera for you ?? From all my phones honors camera is the best. Samsung is too saturated and Google is too dull(especially in cloudy day here in UK), honor is just right 👌,but its my personal preference.
@@lucaspanasski331 for me the problem with the camera of the honor is that half of the photos are too soft without much saturation. The other half is way too contrasty with extreme saturation but only with certain colors. Portrait mode uses so much sharpening that people start to look like zombies. Also ive got multiple software problems. I doesn't play any 4k videos, not on youtube or with any other method
@@Moreeke there is no perfect smartphone camera. For me photos made by pixel 7 pro are too dull, and really dont like portrait mode, x1 option is already zoomed in with bad edge detection and faces are slightly oversharpend.Also battery is very average.S23U camera is very versatile,but photos are too warm and oversaturated , colours sometimes looks very "unusual". For me honors photos are never too soft, sometimes too sharp and i am finding portrait mode especially outdoors in good light very good. Its all about preference, try other phones and pick your poison 😉

Most phones are a hype until you put them next to a Samsung you realise how good Samsung really is
I think s23 ultra more bitter then honor 5pro.. Zoom in more detail and sharp.. 10x optical zoom its amazing for me.
I have both phones and main camera is definitely better on honor. Zoom x10 is better on Samsung
What about battery life? (when using FHD only on both). What about the speakers' quality? When pixel peeping a little on the ultra wide photo samples, is there a huge difference?

I own both phones and can tell you that honor has slightly better battery life and charging much more faster than Samsung (also honor has charger in the box) speaker are about the same. Ultra wide details are maybe slightly better on Samsung, but its due to oversharpening.

Honor Magic5 Pro and several other smartphones in 2023 are just as good as a iPhone 14 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. Actually better than them in certain areas.

Someone already asked this question. In my opinion design is a huge improvement. Dynamic range and colour accuracy when taking pictures got getter.
Stabilization is no comparison to the S23 Ultra.
Night shots, were to yellow, with more light flaring than the S23 Ultra.
If I had to choose, it would be S23 Ultra all the way.

Faster charching but Samsung´s battery lasts two days... That´s insane. I haven´t seen it in any other phone. Besides that, I really like more Samsung´s videos and photos. i ran out of phone (my beloved p30 pro after years) so i bought s23 ultra 512, but i knew about the release of this one but i couldn't wait that long. In your opinion, would it be worth abandoning the s23 ultra I have (having to sell it used, therefore losing a bit [paid 1170 euros]) for this?

No, the S23 Ultra has portrait video and does it much better in terms of edge detection than my Pixel 7 Pro. It's as good as the iPhone's Cinematic video on the iPhone 14 Pro/Max

Same main hardware, Camera etc. It's just mostly the design is different.
Honour phones has been always great with colour not gonna lie honour has better depth of field you can see on those clouds, pictures clicked on honour has great dpv of clouds

Yep you are right. I own both phones and honor representing clouds much more better than Samsung. Actually clouds were looking much more better on s22 ultra , s23 ultra is just "melting" them
Of course I would choose Honor. Nothing would make me choose Samsung. Huawei DNA is very clear in this phone, and for me that's enough to clearly choose Honor.

Honor magic is better. Samsung has a grainy video and at the same time it is way darker quality poor hdr on video. Samsung is under performing as always.
