  • The goal of The Wilderness Living Challenge Season 3 survival series is to GAIN or MAINTAIN body mass living only on 100% WILD FOODS! In this episode we show you how to cook crawfish from the creek right to the table, step-by-step!
    BOOKMARK THE FULL PLAYLIST (2 Episodes per Week): • Season 3: The Wilderne...
    Episodes will run every TUESDAY and FRIDAY 10 a.m. EST.

    Unlike Naked and Afraid, ALONE, or Survivorman, there is no limit to the tools we are allowed to use. Living off just WILD foods is harder than you think!
    In this episode we set funnel and pyramid traps for crawfish, crawdad, yabbies, prawns or crayfish, whatever you prefer. We use dog food and let them sit for a couple hours before checking. The crawfish are stored in a special trap with no exits. Then we rinse the crawfish with fresh water in a small kid pool to help wash them. After that we dump them into a turkey boiler on high heat, add spices, corn, potatoes and sausage. We then show you how to remove the digestive system for eating!
    We hunt FERAL hog too!
    We fish for catfish, alligator gar, long nose gar and drum, crawfish, crawdads, or yabbies, ghost shrimp, bluegill, rio grande perch, armored catfish, flathead catfish, blue catfish, alligator, freshwater clams, leopard Frog.
    All wild foods are on the menu!
    We seek out wild edibles including prickly pear cactus pads or nopal, cactus fruit or tuna, wild onions, mulberries, wild grape, Texas persimmons, pecan and anacua, mulberry, tasajillo, turks cap, yucca pods, cats briar, oion, chili pequin, duck weed, ground cherries, desert hackberry.

    All my money as a kid came from those minnow traps. I grew up near a large lake in a river town so bait was big business. Between chub minnows and nightcrawler hunting my childhood friend and I always had candy money and more. LOL I miss those days.

The cases for underwater are pretty cheap - or there's the camera I got on amazon Git2 Pro does 2k at 23fps or 1080p at 60fps and comes with loads of mounts that work with GoPro as well. Was $145 I think - can upload some underwater footage if you're interested.

      They walk forward into the trap😬... when they’re frightened they go backwards really fast. That’s where the term “crawfishing” on a deal comes from, when someone backs out on a deal they’ve made.

    Nice vid... here in the UK we have our own Crayfish that are being wiped out by the introduction of an invasive American / Red Signal Crayfish which is bigger than our native species... if we catch the Red Signal Crayfish, no matter the size, its illegal to put them back in our waterways... some restaurants serve Crayfish and it is delicious, been thinking of getting some traps and fishing for some myself.

Their is possessive and there can indicate direction and "There are several kinds of crawfish." Quick was saying of the crawfish, "I think they are pretty good if you cook them right." They're pretty good.I live in Louisiana and I think they're delicious when cooked correctly. YUM!

    I might of had a slow start to this survival challenge, but nothing like doing college work and listening to two grown men wrestle a 5 foot gator gar in another tab while typing essays! Absolutely love the series!! Great to see you getting out and exploring more wildlife and environments than your own backyard. Makes you have to rethink your survivalist strategies, I.e. The big fires. {Hope bob looks forward to anothersubscriver and viewer too!}

    In Louisiana crawfish are a part of our culture. Other places (except maybe south Texas and few others) don't seen to make them the same. Try Zatarain's crab boil and add a little vinegar or lemon to the boil, helps them peel easier. Good stuff.
