That's Stormfront's plan. She is trying to change people's views about other races. People won't think about white super terrorist. Only people of ethnicity will be judged. Since Stormfront is a nazi, it is a pretty good plan. Using media to turn people into racists. It's exactly like real life.
Did they really off him? That was so lame. But seems like the plot is going political, so it wouldn't make sense to have Black Noir be what he is in the comic.
@@francotellez5905 I kinda highly doubt they straight up just killed Black Noir. Maeve fucked him up with the power of nuts but I'm sure he got to his medicine before it killed him. Just didnt show it as they walked out of the room
You know, it's weird. Shawn Ashmore's acting and the way he moved as Lamplighter _felt_ the most _'superhero'_ to me. It's not like supermodel posing as you'd see with The Deep, Maeve, and some of the other Seven. Especially in the hospital in episode 6, How he gets into Action Position and shifts his focus around feels very diegetically practiced, _smooth,_ and balanced. You know what I mean? He just feels WAY MORE GENUINELY *superhero* than anyone else. It reminds me of when actors have former military experience and it shows when they play military/combat people. You can tell when you see them move in a certain setting/circumstance. Which makes _total sense_ because Ashmore had the most practical experience BEING the genuine thing this show is satirizing. I just wish we'd see more of him. It's bizarre, I never would have really expected or called that until I really saw it.
That was such a dark and intense ending and Dare I say Scary! Did anyone else feel anyone was going to die no one was safe! during that Trial Scene?! Best ending for an episode thus far
I think it is a scene to show that normal people being influenced by Stormfront's propoganda are going to cause large scale mayhem in their panic and distrust, which would justify the existence of superheroes to save them. We might get more riots or lynchings shown and this scene was probably just the beginning. What is interesting is that the guy shot the storeowner in suspicion of being a supe and believed he was immune to bullets. What gave him that specific idea? Not everyone in the Seven are bulletproof.
@@jamesquinn6662 Yeah it felt very on the nose. Like they wanted to show the radicalisation of a white 'incel' to violence, the thing is this doesn't match up with Americas current situation. Cities accross the country have huge riots and fires breaking out accross them and they are being caused by far left groups such as Antifa and BLM. What pisses me off, isn't that the show wants to portray an evil right wing killer, it's that we all know it wouldn't have the balls to actually show a left wing killer using the same radicalisation scenarios or even reference what's currently happening.
Dude, Stormfront told Homelander last episode “you can’t win the whole country, so don’t even try.” He is just listening to his girlfriend. Plus, she used her media guy’s to help fix Homelander’s rep. It’s all explained in the scene where she reveals her age to Homelander.
It still doesn't make sense, he still wouldn't come out on a right wing platform without a major backlash (even if they cleaned up the stuff from before). To be honest the whole way they cleaned up his 'war crimes' didn't make sense to me. People don't generally pay attention to the evidence once they get mad, it's unlikely people would've paid attention to any proof of his innocence unless it was absolute and totally undeniable (which it wasn't)
When everyone was dying, I was thinking of George Carlin saying "Wouldn't it be interesting if the only way you could die was that suddenly your head blew up?"
The whole backlash thing is addressed when Stormfront initially opened up to Homelander. “you don't need 500 million people to love you, you need 5 million people pissed off” I thought it was executed perfectly.
deagleninja that's not entirely true. I tend to stay on the left side of the media I consume but there's definitely LARGE online groups of right wing supporters even in the entertainment industry.
@@DarkBlueRH yeah, but can they openly express their views without negative consequences, though? Seen much of James Woods in anything mainstream lately?
deagleninja No, I’m pretty sure they were trying to show how dangerous echo chambers are. this whole media left this is largely BS, most actors and Hollywood producers secretly want republican Leadership since it benefits them more. If you want, look at trump’s donor list yourself.
I agree, I wish they had made Hughie stop him and then he and Starlight could have had at least one scene together where she could encourage them, and then his head would have blown up at Congress
Also I feel as if they have intentionally not shown her in both the CIA agent's head popping scene and the court scene. There would be no real reason not to see her popping heads unless to set up a reveal of some sort. Now that I'm thinking about it, unless there is some information we haven't been presented with yet, its impossible for Cindy to be out at the start of the season killing people anyway.
@@KipCount well that aged well. @@christiann158 I feel like Ryan’s heat vision >> homelander’s >> weird explody telekinesis. She did fine against Kimiko’s brother who could probably have done the same thing, and she was still quite durable otherwise anyways
@@christiann158 this is an old comment, but I just wanted to say that I agree with your point about their Lazer Eyes ™ being "fueled by rage". Initially, I was thinking along the lines of Ryan being 'more powerful' than Homelander based on the sheer amount of damage his Lazer Eyes™ did to Stormfront. But then I remembered a scene from an earlier episode in the season. (Can't remember the episode number. I _think_ it was season 2, episode 3, the one where the red headed assistant Ashley is rehired by Homelander). Anyway, the scene in question is where Homelander is shown heating up a small, leftover bottle of Madeline Stillwell's breast milk with his Lazer Eyes ™ before drinking it. He only used enough heat in that scene to heat the milk and NOT destroy the little plastic bottle, even though we know and have seen that he is capable of doing SO much more damage with his eyes. So due to that scene, I believe that they (Homelander and _eventually_ Ryan) are able to control the intensity of their Lazers. Ryan was already established as not having any control or prior training. He was in an extremely stressed situation watching his mother be strangled, and he reacted instinctively. We didn't actually _see_ the Lazer...only a _flash_ and then the aftermath, but it's clear his Lazers weren't as precise and controlled as Homelander's. We can assume Ryan let loose a wide reaching, uncontrolled beam to be able to sliced off _BOTH_ Stormfront's arms _AND_ legs, and then fatally injuring his mother, (not to mention the force knocked back Butcher). So in effect it was an uncontrolled burst of power, whereas Homelander was being careful with Stormfront in order to "test" her durability.
The Nut Allergy is new, the idea came from the actor who plays Black Noir having a Tree Nut allergy. Odds are Black Noir is not the same as who he is in the comments

@@johans3164 There's is a disconnect here. Obviously we understand that the rally he was at was a storm front rally. The problem being brought is, that we the audience understand how much homelander took his reputation as the #1 superhero and how well he is doing "points" wise. We see how almost everything he does is a social media stunt. Therefore him stepping away from the more pc route and joining storefronts audience doesn't seem to affect his numbers. Or at least that specific issue wasn't brought up. This is the problem jeremy was bringing up. I as a fan can infer that due to homelander becoming more independent from vaught and closer to stormfront, especially after stormfront helped him out with her audience. This justifies his actions, however we weren't shown the consequences of this particular action. Which is why people are bringing this up as a issue with the writing.
I think their answer to why Homelander can go on the campaign trail with Stormfront is that Stormfront's meme team is influencing public opinion. So, now his public opinion has changed because of her social media influence.
@@jay1jayf i think he was pretty right-wing appealing before that tho. In the previous season we saw him at that weird superhero-jesus festival giving strong jesus vibes. Anoneemus Noename Anoneemus Noename No the point that I (& Jahns) were trying to make is the show is missing a more "left" POV. Honest to god I didn't like these last 2 episodes as much. There's some stuff I can't exactly why I didn't like it. Then there is some stuff I can. 1. Is them completely going crazy with the crazy shock value scenes. Like Mother's milk getting strangled by an elongated dick or Lamplighter watching a this gay porn of a guy getting a train ran of him or something. 2. The actors can be a little over the top for sometimes. Especially considering how cartoony the villains like stormfront can be. 3. Those so many instances in the show that take the believability out of the fact that Vought has lasted this long without them getting exposed. Lamplighter being a former member who burned kids alive, how Homelander obliterates most witnesses in high crimes we get the first video ever of Homelander getting caught in the act, or what about how Black Noir little beat up Starlight in broad daylight at a coffee shop?

The complete reversal of Homelander and the media's reaction is basically cognitive dissonance. Because for almost 2 seasons we have been getting what feels natural for the show. Suddenly something completely dumb is done and we are just supposed to accept it. The show is basically tell you one thing and doing a completely different thing.
It is weird, but realistic. We're not shown any backlash but there might be some. And let's be honest, Homelander was always far more on the conservative/right side of the spectrum. It kinda made sense for his fanbase to sort of swing along with him, especially with the whole super terrorist thing

I was wondering the same thing! Hughie and Lamplighter get into the building with a secret entrance. But they were walking in the corridors and halls of the main official meeting room of the Seven and no one does anything? There were strangely too few people at that time. At least when the fire alarm sounded, you would think there would be a lot of people rushing outside and security guards/firefighters coming in but no one is even around. Did Vought decide that human security guards are useless and the Seven would take care of any building emergency? That is the only way this makes sense.

I would disagree. Lamplighter in episode 6 was a bunch of tell and no show. We hear people say that he's this tragic figure who suffers from his mistakes, but we don't see it reflect in any of his actions. This episode was amazing because it actually showed us the torment that Lamplighter went through. I'm sad he's gone too, but his death was the perfect conclusion to a tragic character.
That kinda surprised me. Sure, he may had more potential. But what sold me on it was Hughies ultimate reaction. When he`s like "Ah, well, fuck you man."
To be fair, I think Homelander kind of had a point about how being raised in a bubble sorta fucked him up. I can see why he wouldn’t want Ryan raised in a similar environment, even if he does have a mother.
Yeah you saw that a few episodes ago too when he mentioned it to the mother nd Ryan was asleep. It’s the one thing homelander was uniquely qualified to comment on. It was the most human moment from homelander we’ve seen this far.
@@darryljack6612 its a given he's the bad guy but what makes it interesting is seeing his logic compared to reality. One could argue that for the first time homelander found an equal like him. Remember everyone is the hero in their own eyes. Does it check out with reality....obviously no

Despite their crimes, I do sympathize with them a bit. You DO see a degree of humanity in them, even if it's faint. They are both tragic characters because they could have been so much better, were they raised in a better environment.
The nut allergy was actually sort of art imitating life. The guy who plays Black Noir actually has a tree but allergy in real life and that’s what inspired the writers to put it in. Also, there are many references in the episode that how main stream media and (a)social media are negatively effecting people. The guy from beginning sequence lost himself after negative news he heard and saw everywhere(it was really good sequence if you look how he changed overtime), Stormfront using social media and news to promote her cause, Butcher criticize to senator about only writing on twitter and virtue signaling, doing nothing anything real. One of the reason why I like this show it doesn't scare off to show how everyday people effecting from all of this.
There's an arc in the comics where The Boys have to investigate people's heads exploding, and I think that they might be going a similar direction in the show, as far as what's causing it.
I work at a community college (way more than retail) and we still have legacy passwords in the system so it didn't surprise me that often corporate laziness is astounding.
I have a theory that the mysterious killer... Is Eagle the Archer. They only pop 1 person's head at a time, like they need to reload, maybe he's firing the arrows too fast to see or firing tiny explosive arrows, all from a range too far for anyone to notice. Imagine that as a twist.

Probably because he was using his experience as iceman of Xmen to play the character.

Nobody's gonna talk about Fat Neil shooting up a convenience store at the beginning of the episode? Just me?
I think it is a scene to show that normal people being influenced by Stormfront's propoganda are going to cause large scale mayhem in their panic and distrust, which would justify the existence of superheroes to save them. We might get more riots or lynchings shown and this scene was probably just the beginning. What is interesting is that the guy shot the storeowner in suspicion of being a supe and believed he was immune to bullets. What gave him that specific idea? Not everyone in the Seven are bulletproof.

@@KipCount well that aged well. How do you feel knowing that Ryan’s laser eyes was the culprit of her demise when that was her kink with homelander, this either means that Ryan is stronger than homelander because he’s a natural born sup OR the laser eyes are fueled by rage and they’re much stronger when infuriated. And btw I really hope this doesn’t spoil anything for you, I hope you’ve seen the new episode, I just really want someone to discuss these things with cause none of my friends watch the boys

His point is the disconnect of the show with how hot topic opinion actually work in real life.

It is weird, but realistic. We're not shown any backlash but there might be some. And let's be honest, Homelander was always far more on the conservative/right side of the spectrum. It kinda made sense for his fanbase to sort of swing along with him, especially with the whole super terrorist thing

The security! Yes! thank you, with everything, there was a fire, people flying through walls, no cameras?
I was wondering the same thing! Hughie and Lamplighter get into the building with a secret entrance. yeah it’s cool, im glad the show outed him for his dangerous alt-right comments / jokes.
He didn’t get mentioned for a good reason lol
If the bald lady was in an asylum the whole time, then she couldn’t have killed those people just like how Raynor was killed
Jack from Jupiter got a cameo but uh... Not in the way I was expecting
Seemed pretty on brand for the series though
That kinda surprised me. Sure, he may had more potential. But what sold me on it was Hughies ultimate reaction. When he`s like "Ah, well, fuck you man."
What?! Where?
@@daniellins4114 it was one of the porn movies
Oh right! The black bald guy, right? I assumed the real one was somewhere on the episode lol
Wow I literally just finished the episode
To be fair, I think Homelander kind of had a point about how being raised in a bubble sorta fucked him up. I can see why he wouldn’t want Ryan raised in a similar environment, even if he does have a mother.
You know even abusive parents can care for their children. Twisted and mess up as it is
Yeah you saw that a few episodes ago too when he mentioned it to the mother nd Ryan was asleep. It’s the one thing homelander was uniquely qualified to comment on. It was the most human moment from homelander we’ve seen this far.
Yea... No he has no real room for morality. When he's dating a Literal Nazi
@@darryljack6612 its a given he's the bad guy but what makes it interesting is seeing his logic compared to reality. One could argue that for the first time homelander found an equal like him. Remember everyone is the hero in their own eyes. Does it check out with reality....obviously no
@@darryljack6612 Deciding that someone has no room for morality is kinda sus to me. A bit arrogant, I think. Yeah, Homelander is a sick fuck and Stormfront is a Nazi. In her defense, she was born and raised with that ideology, she never really had a chance to begin with. Homelander was a fucking lab rat so he never had a chance either.
It’s also foreshadowed earlier in the season when he makes the one surveillance character throw away her almond joy when he’s tracking Butcher.
Show Noir is not the same as the comic noir. Pretty sure they are going in a totally different direction there.
Good to see John Noble!!! Man, that just triggered my "Fringe" binge again.
Jeremy, u should review "the devil all the time".
I'd love to see ur input on that film
*someday you’ll find this comment* 😎
Did Lamplighter know that he'd set off the alarms and get Starlight a way to escape or was that contrived coincidence?
Asking for a friend
I think it was part of his plan
Hitting two birds with one stone i guess....
@SanjiMakesEdibles Na he did. Remember he was talked into going by Hughie. He could have went in there and burned himself at any time with Hughie.
I doubt he knew how starlights power worked
I wouldn't say it's necessarily contrived, I doubt they made a room specific to Starlight's powers in the first place.
Jeremy, ur the only TH-cam I let ads slide. Only cos you're the GOAT
I work in the IT department for a big hospital. I
See the hand security clearance not being disable happen all the time. It is ridiculous
Im gonna be honest jeremy, i really liked the way you tackled the political angle. Really impartial , made me happy.
Just wanted to say that. Thank you!
You know in the show homelander and strormfront are supposed to be bad guys right? The show is literally criticising the far right ideology.
You've got something on your nose there Vash115
Actually far right people are bad news. The far left just think that if your white and not with them your far right. Both are loonballs. Then you get the normies in the middle watching them both cry at each other
II'm not sure how anyone in America can be impartial at this point.
Please don’t say your opinion if it doesn’t align with mine. That makes me happy. Coward
Been waiting for this vid, this episode was massive wtf the ending has me shook
The exploding heads remind me of the Scanners movies I used to watch when I was a kid, Michael Ironside was on them.
OH MY GOD IF WE DIE IN THE GAME WE DIE FOR REAL
I’ve been waiting for this! Man, you are the BEST!
This episode was crazy and absolutely mind blowing. I still think episode 6 was a tad bit better, as this episode felt extremely fast paced to me.
*someday you’ll find this comment* 😎
Haven't seen the episode yet, just here to drop a like.
This episode was so mind blowing... I couldn’t wrap my head around how awesome it was
My favorite episode in the entire series so far it was so amazing
Homelander/Stormfront's relationship is the best part of this season.
She's just using him.
@@Bitchslapper316 Maybe. Maybe not.
@@speedy4574 I don't think she gives a shit about Homelander but I do think she is afraid of him. My guess is she using him so she can get close to his son, he is the first natural born Sup and may hold the key to perfecting the compound V.
Ive worked in networking positions in security. You would be surprised how long some past employee credentials stay in the system....
I mean. I can think of another powerful figure in real life who still has maaaaaany people supporting them despite numerous factual accounts to the horrible crimes they’ve committed.
I don't like the weekly release schedule. They've dragged out an 8 episode series that could have been enjoyed in a single day or 2. I don't enjoy it as much when i have to sit and remember everything that came before. Also, the ads on the prime app tell me what's happening in the next episode before it comes out. I don't want to know what's happening in the next episode because I already know Im going to watch it. It's kind of a mini spoiler and I hate that.
I just don’t think they are gonna do the Black Noir twist from the comics tbh....
I’m going to take my sat test wish me luck everyone
All the best ,I have my gmat next week
Only if you also wish me luck for I am about to take a driver's test but I don't have a car
No
I have my sat tomorrow too
I had my corona test yesterday.
Thanks to god I passed
Homelander's done PR stuff on his own. I figured that was something he set up with Stormfront. It'll be interesting to see if there's repercussions, but the media focus for the remaining episodes will likely be the Red Hearing.
That last scene is what i like about this show. Everyone can die just like that, no warning whatsover. You could say my expectations have been subverted
The boys never dies.. Lol.. Not even black noir can kill them
