Accommodation in Pattaya/Jomtien seems to be as cheap if not cheaper than Cambodia. Electricity is cheaper in Thailand Food in Thailand is cheaper. Pattaya/Jomtien are very safe for foreign retirees and they have good quality cheap hospitals. Baht buses are cheaper than tuk tuks, air conditioned bolt taxis in Pattaya are as cheap as tuk tuks in Cambodia. The main attraction of Pattaya is the beach to walk on. Cambodia may win on less complicated visas but not much else. Convince me otherwise
@@noklekpui lol. 1. Pattaya is a disgusting shit hole. 2. Accommodation is far cheaper in Cambodia. 3. Electricity is the same. 4. Cambodian people are the friendliest in the world. 5. Oh, and I’d much rather pay $250 per annual visa than $2000 +++ Plus, the Police in Thailand are assholes too. Not here in Cambodia. They are super friendly.
After 10 years of Nicaragua, I'm ready for a change. My concern with Cambodia is the heat. In Nicaragua, air conditioning is not always required and my electric bill is usually about $30. So, where can an American go, in Cambodia, and feel relatively comfortable with the temperature? I have no problem with 92 degrees outside and 78-80 in the house. Cambodia is high on my list of next destinations, but I don't want to stay in all day and go out only at night. Thanks for the video.
It gets hot but it’s manageable. Driving a motorcycle or going for a swim always helps. In the south by the sea in Kampot and Kep there’s always a nice breed keeping things cooler. I walk a lot each day around 10km and I’m fine with the heat and breeze. I work at a cafe with an outside terrace and they have fans, so again, that’s fine. At night I use the AC for 1 hour before bed to cool down the room, then turn it off and only use a fan. Don’t worry about the heat here, especially if you go south.
@@robshealthcrunch Hi Rob. My usual routine is to depart the US in October and return in April. Nicaragua used to be more flexible with allowing 90 days plus another 90. I want to ride a motorcycle through the countryside and eat good cheap food.
@@Mr.DamianM and I’ll help you get set up easily so you will have a smooth and easy process getting to know Cambodia. There is not one single county in the world I know that’s better to live in than Cambodia
How about internet speed Thailand vs Cambodia? I’ve lived in Siem Reap for a while but it can get unreliable, and therefore more hard to keep up an online business. Or is Phnom Penh better?
Internet in Thailand is mostly faster and more reliable. The problem in Cambodia is that there is only one too notch provider, Sinet, but they are expensive so many businesses opt for the cheaper ones that often drop, plus they choose cheaper plans with only 20 or so GB. PP is definitely better than SR as is small Kampot town.
I am interested in retiring in Kampot but I am wary. Do they have a decent hospital? Phnom Penh nightlife has become too expensive and Sihanoukville is a ghost town compared to 10 plus years ago. What is the nightlife scene like in Kampot. Are there plenty of 7-11s. I hope overall Kampot is cheaper than other areas in Cambodia
@@KB3TLE thanks for your comment. I never had to take off my shoes in SR, wherever I went. Where did that happen to you ? Toilet paper? What for? The ass spray is efficient and far cleaner. Cleans your ass nicely!
You don't have to visit the Thai immigration office every 3 months at all its online now, Cambodia easy for sure but for good reason, no doubt its laid back compared to Thailand but the country can't be compared to Thailand and is also more expensive with very few beaches, glad you enjoy it'
It may be online but there is a lot of red tape in Thailand. Thailand is way more expensive than Cambodia! The police in Thailand also rob tourists daily for riding motorcycles that they can rent without a license but can’t drive without a license. It’s a set up money making scheme. Cambodia has everything Thailand does, beaches included and mountains too. It’s simply much smaller, easier to get around and the locals are so so much more friendly. Oh there’s a massive difference. As I mentioned in the video (you clearly didn’t watch), working here as a foreigner is legal and you can set up your own business with low cost or work for locals.
