What I love about Batman in these films is that he feels like a classic gothic horror era monster but if one of them was a hero. He feels almost mythical in 89

I love how Burton/Keaton gave Batman such a gothic treatment with the acting, lighting, costume, cinematography and music. Batman is literally like a supernatural entity. Vampiric or even. It feels like a quasi horror film. Gangsters completely in fear of a “Giant BAT!”. I love the whole vibe it gives off. You didn’t get that from the other Batman portrayals.
Bale batman, pattison batman, ben batman all atleast one or two scene in the movies they involve in had that sudden dark appearance. So I don't know why you would ignore that? I want whatever you smoke bro
I remember watching this film on VHS when I was 3, 4 and 5 years old. I was so excited for Batman Returns to come out then. After 34 years, this still holds up as the best Live Action DC comic book film ever made.
Michael Keaton you are the legend and the legacy of all the Batman movies. we started this journey with him and that he returns 34 years later is an honor and admiraton.
Lol That's called a back fist that Bruce Lee started in the 1970's. Hollywood caught on to Lee's groin kick followed by a back fist to the head, although to remain PG-ish, Keaton only does the back fist to the head. Anyway Batman 1989 is my favorite Batman movie of all time. Keaton rules !
As great as the Nolan movies were/are, this introduction to Batman was absolutely stellar. I remember being sat in the theatre watching this and it just blew me away.
It’s great Michael Keaton got to play the role at least one more time in the Flash. The closest we will ever get to Batman 3. He was so great in the role, just 2 films wasn’t enough
@paulod27 honestly I would have loved it either way. I mean batman and robin and batman forever weren't close to the originals but they were actually movies I liked as a kid in the 90s. They were fun and campy. They definitely wouldn't have been worse for me if they had keaton.
Saw the movie on the big screen last night as part of a night marathon: The Flash, Batman and Batman Returns, was worth to sit there for over 6 hours just to watch the two classics on the big screen.
Kids today have no idea just how big of a movie this was when it first came out. The hype behind it was comparable to Avengers Endgame. Even to this day Batman 1989 is One of the best Batman films ever created.
There was actually a comment in the script that said that scene was very similar to when Batman's parents get murdered. It's clearly done to draw those parallels and it explains why Batman wants to single out these two muggers in particular out of everybody else in Gotham.
Michael Keaton, the very best Batman. Never noticed before, they added the close up of Keaton from the Axis Chemical scene where he is holding Jack Napier's hand, in 3:51. Fits pretty well in here. The key thing is, not to light things, background etc. too much and they did that so well in Batman (1989)
WARNER, Listen to me. You NEED to give Burton and Keatpn a buttload of money and beg them to make a third Batman film. If money is what you're after that's your ticket.
I remember when Michael Keaton was announced as being cast, with the reaction being, "HUH?". And he went and proved all doubters wrong. I'm glad that I decided to wait and see it in the theater before I formed an opinion...
I can't remember how many times i have watched this movie and i still can't believe that what we are seeing there is England and not an American city! (Best Batman movie, Best Batman actor, and best Joker by far)!!
4:08 Man im imagining the cheers if there were any back when this came out in theaters, i ofc wasn't born at this time, but if there weren't any cheers it should have happened at that moment
this one never gets old and now they've done a sequel to Beetlejuice. It's wild. They threw everything under the sun at Batman (1989). All top producers, casting crew, actors/actresses, etc. just an all-star team. Then fast forward to now. The cast of the new Beetlejuice is just as insane, lol. I'm in love with Jenna Ortega now. Because of all this. It's your fault Michael Keaton. She's probably not even right for me. Yet, not wanting her would feel so wrong. (i want cuddles) and i know that's not a real name Jenna Ortega, lol. Just like Will Dorten isn't my real name.
Honestly, the original trailer for this movie should have juat been this clip, starting with the two guys on the roof, and ending with "I'm Batman". People would have thought it was some horror movie.
Again, it’s a pity Michael Keaton is done playing Batman but at least he’ll always be remembered but who knows we could see a copy of the bat girl movie but I probably doubt it

So many people hate Robert Pattinson and I thought he was a great Batman.
@@EndlessMike1987No one hates him everyone's saying he's the best one and it's facts.
@@JLOCC23424 everyone I talked to hated him. I do agree that he is the best one and I love that they focused more on his detective side.
I love that opening shot of Gotham City with the clouds and fog over the moon and just the gothic feel that Tim Burton gave Gotham City in this movie.
Michael Keaton and Kevin Conroy are the best Batman
Agreed!!
Adam West too.
Don't forget Christian bale
Michael Keaton is my generation of Batman who is my favorite still to this day.

This is true Gotham city.
True! Gotham in this film is a character! It's almost as if the city was a parallel dimension where everything is gothic and dark!
This movie was the true batman the atmosphere and scenes was perfectly done
im glad michael keaton was on the flash movie as batman ❤
Me too.
That fight scene was crazy bro was moving faster like he was 20 and he’s 70 years old that’s crazy he’s the best Batman

This is the BEST OPENING SCENE in all of the superhero movies so far!!!The Batman backwards fist is one of the most imitated moves also!!!!

I always wondered why I started to love Film Noir and Neo Noir, I honestly think its because of this and Batman Animated
As great as the Nolan movies were/are, this introduction to Batman was absolutely stellar. I remember being sat in the theatre watching this and it just blew me away.
Man, Gotham looks so rough and dangerous
Like New York City in the 1970s.
It’s great Michael Keaton got to play the role at least one more time in the Flash. The closest we will ever get to Batman 3. He was so great in the role, just 2 films wasn’t enough
If Warner bros and DC, is smart They Give Keaton one last full run as Batman after the Flash
To be fair, they wanted him back for batman forever. But he didn't like it, so he turned it down. Maybe a bad move on hus part
@@basketcas3717 I would say it was a smart move. I mean Batman Forever was okay, but could you imagine he signed on for Batman and Robin, yikes 😬

Fun fact : People in 1989 thought that family was the Waynes until the Batman reveal
If they were true fans of the lore, they'd know the Waynes are wealthy and didn't take taxis. 😂🤬

"THE" "ORIGINAL" "REAL" BATMAN.
Keaton demostró en 2023 que nadie, nadie! Se acerca a su Batman, porque él ES BATMAN❤
The husband/father may have been king of the castle in the suburbs, but in Downtown Gotham he's just another John Doe who took a wrong turn.
