Thank you. I so need this exercise. My balance is horrendous. I walk like a "drunken sailer straight off the ship" as the saying goes and stairs are very challenging. Much appreciation Will
I am female & under 60 & must add these 2 exercises to my daily 10,000 steps. I have been disconcerted to find that I am unable to kneel & descend stairs as effortlessly as I used to as recently as last year. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much! I have problems walking up and down stairs due to rheumatoid arthritis in my ankle. This will be extremely beneficial for me to gain my mobility back.❤
I am so grateful I found your youtube, I never feel safe walking down stairs, I have watched quite a lot of your videos now and I am feeling motivated and very thankful
I have PT twice a year, to maintain what strength I have. I am an 80yo widow, I live alone, and am still very active, but my muscles lose strength over the course of the year. So these exercises will help me keep the strength I get from my PT sessions. Going to show my therapist this tomorrow.
Oh dear! I broke my foot in 2 places last Saturday. So uneventful, I stubbed my toe on furniture in the middle of the night on the way to pee a journey done thousands of times😢 stairs are a massive challenge and walking is killing my hip more than the injury. It’s the un-even height of the walking boot. This video is something I can aim for hopefully. A new injury so a long way to go and my instinct is already telling me it’s going to be more than 6 weeks to recover 😢 The emotional toil is worse than the injury knowing I need to manage my recovery and activity, there’s no way to speed up broken bones despite nutrition and vitamins.
Reading your story of breaking you foot in 2 places on a pee journey; passing on a tip;to avoid those kinds of injuries, many years ago I purchased a small flash light which I keep by the bed. I use it every time I get out of bed to walk. I hope this tip helps you and many others who read it. Wishing you an uneventful recovery.
I'm so sorry to hear about your injury. Recovery can be a slow process, but the effort given for rehabilitation is worth it. I hope my videos can offer some support for navigating the stairs during this period. Wishing you all the best in your recovery :)
When I go down the steep stairs in the workshop at work, my left knee sometimes gives way. My muscles are still in good condition from the physical job I had in my younger years.
Thanks, useful. One issue is looking down and identifying the step edge for safety. Some steps have a white edge which is helpful. Others do not. I think the wide steps down when you exit the British museum are paticularly concerning esp when coming out into bright daylight or even the rare weather event sunshine. Tips please
This is great. I have to be careful on stairs as I get sudden, severe muscle cramps (from medical problem) that leave me struggling to use one leg. This should help with the unaffected leg being more stable and stronger. Thanks!
Great instructional video (as always) but while watching the first exercise segment I became a bit concerned that if using a chair with pillows there could be an issue with the chair moving/tipping backwards as you sit down so it might be advantageous to place the back of the chair against something stationary such as a wall to prevent the chair from moving. PS: Love Three Tip Fridays! (no pun intended)...🙃
Will, Many thanks for this important guide. I regret, my knee strength must be so poor that I struggle doing either of these exercises. It’s possible on the first, my starting position wasn’t high enough. But I also found the toe touch down extremely hard to do? Any options please for a more gradual progression to these two exercises - I feel sure they’d help me if I could do them. Ken
What if your balance is way off - trying this sitting and standing I almost fell. Does it begin to work over time. I have had two lumbar surgeries, so I know I have muscle strength issues on my back. Thank you for all your great ideas. Most of them are very doable.
I've been coming down the stairs one step at a time and obviously one leg can do it but not the other. Because I can go quicker ine leg at a time I tend to continue that way.
Hi Will. Love your videos and exercises. Do you have experience with inclusion body myositis? If so, any recommendations for exercises to maintain muscle function and/or strengthening. Thank you in advance.

"I broke my foot in 2 places". Tommy Cooper's doctor had the answer - don't go to those places.
Would you recommend them for bad knee due to knee cap issues
Your videos are wonderful. Your instructions are clear and speak to those concerns I have as a 74 year old woman. Thank you;
I'm so pleased my videos have been helpful - wishing you all the best :)
Thank you so much for the well explained video.
Im beginning to struggle with weak leg muscles. And i found the answer in your video right on time.
The exercise at the end using the last stair is brilliant. Thank you
Love your directions Will, I definitely need this with foot neuropathy.
The new socks look great 😃❤
Happy to help! And thank you - I recently had a birthday and socks were the primary gift!
Thanks to my cantilevered kitchen, I have a single built in step handy for toe touches and calf stretches and all manner of lovely exercises.
Hi Will, I've been finding your videos quite useful, but I can never find the email link for your weekly Newsletter.
That's great to hear!

Maybe do like his exercise and keep your weight on the step you’re on until the other foot touches the lower step.
Very good. I have a stiff ankle so glad to see you have one as well. Will give this a go.
I hope you find it helpful!
Thanks for that video Will, find stairs very hard so will definitely try these exercises

I thought those were like your favourite physio socks. Well, sometimes we've got to replace those, too. 😊
I was given a collection of new socks for my birthday so it was time to test them out!
First exercise, I do not have high chair in my house. Moreover, difficult to do your second exercise because there is a tendency to fall.
Thanks so much. Easy to do anywhere
Thank you, Mr. Will, thank you.
Happy to help :)

Quite proficient and effective exercises, thnx 🎉

How often per week should these exercises be done? I need them!! Thank you!!
Very useful. Thankyou.
Happy to help :)
I have more trouble going up. Will the same exercises work?
Very good information for knees but my leg not band please tell me
My knees buckle when I go down. There is a sharp pain on the inside of the knee. What is going on? Is it because of the Q angle since I’m a woman?
Great stuff, thanks Will 👍🏼

I should have watched this a couple weeks ago before I fell down my half log steeps and hit my head on the river rock fireplace !
Hope you are ok😊
I'm sorry to hear about your fall! I hope you are not in too much pain and that you are recovering well :)
Thank You , yes I’m good . My ankle was cut and swollen and my head was sore for a couple of weeks but feeling good now.

What about upstairs
My knee buckles. Scary….
My biggest issue is my feet don’t fit on standard stairs…. 😂 I have to kinda angle my feet at least 45°. Sigh…
I’d rather hold on to the railing
Nice ! 😂 I agree
Unfortunately, not all stairs have railings.
@@stevieAmi According to housing law. All steps must have railings look it up
Railings are best . Avoid stairs w/ no railings since they are just accidents waiting to happen.
As Dora says , "por que no los dos?"
Why not both, hold the rail AND exercise?
I can't get your contact. How

4,
Nonsense . IF you can sit down slowly, under full control, using just ONE leg, you have very strong legs. What are you doing here? Not realistic.
