Thank you for allowing the audio of it spraying. That was one of my chief concerns. I have an old Wagner power painter and it will blow your eardrums out with the most annoying noise. Most reviews cover up the sound with music or have it muted.
JUST BOUGHT ONE OF THESE. PLAN TO SPRAY THE FENCE THAT IS VISIBLE FROM THE STREET THAT SEPARATES MY REAR NEIGHBORS AND ME...WITH A MURAL. IT IS WEATHERED WOOD IN POOR REPAIR. DECIDED I WOULD USE A SPACE IN THE LOWER EDGE THAT HAS BROKEN LOOSE AS A "FRONT DOOR" INTO THE "HOME" I INTEND TO PAINT ONTO THE FENCE. MY NEIGHBORS AND I EACH HAVE AN INDOOR/OUTDOOR CAT, AND THEY USE THE OPENING TO "VISIT" IN EACH OTHER'S YARDS. I HAVE NEVER USED A SPRAY PAINTER...NOR PAINTED A MURAL...BUT THIS TUTORIAL HAS GIVEN ME THE CONFIDENCE TO TRY!

Just purchased this spray gun today. Got it for $60 and its worth every penny so far. Once you get the paint thinned properly, it produces a nice uniform pattern. I also have the Grace X5, for small projects, its to much gun. This one is nice and easy to clean. Defiantly recommend for the diy consumer.
I am planning to get this sprayer gun. I have an exterior satin enamel paint. What i need to dilute the paint. Do i need to use thinners what kind of thinner or water to dilute paint. I will really appreciate if you get to me asap. Thanks

Sounds good. It takes some getting used to. I had to use it a few different times before I started to appreciate it. Viscosity of the paint and the right flow control setting makes a big difference. My only negative as of yet is that it feels fragile, I imagine it will break easy if dropped.

I also used this to spray black Rustoleum High Heat BBQ paint. It sprayed out nicely with the sprayer on its lowest flow setting but it was a pain to clean the gun afterward because it was an oil based paint. I had to use paint gun cleaner and acetone to clean the gun and the paint cup.
@@GodsGenuineGrace yeah I know, I just didnt have any paint cup liners. I suppose a large zip lock bag may have worked, I'll try that next time 👍. I use Naked Gun paint gun cleaner in an aerosol can, that stuff works great! Maybe next time I paint with an oil based paint I'll make a cleaning video. Thanks for watching!
Returning this today. I wanted to love it but it would not do the job. I was trying to do kitchen cabinets with the finishing gun but you need to thin the primer too much for it to work correctly and my last gun only needed 2 coats of primer. I did coat 3 and it needs a 4th. I have used HVLP before and thinning the primer is what is the culprit. I am sure it is good for large jobs like fences and decks but not for finish work.
Hi, thanks watching! I have been able to get a pretty smooth finish with this gun but it depends on the paint, gun set up, spraying distance and sweeping motion. I know what you mean about having to thin the paint and number of coats though. My first time using this gun I painted a raw wood door and window trim pieces with exterior latex and I had to give them a good 4 coats because I had to thin the paint so much. But after getting to know this gun, I've painted other things with it and used different types of paint with great results. Anyway, thanks again for watching!
great video. i'm looking into this model now. one question i had was when you explained the difference between the extreme settings of the flow control knob, you mentioned about the length differences (about 12-14" wide vs. the smaller length at the other extreme). can you tell if these differences also include the amount of thickness of paint to those areas? in other words, lets assume the sprayer lays an average 1 mil thick layer. does the larger spray produce a thinner layer (ex, less than 1 mil thick) and the smaller spray produce a thicker layer (ex, 1 mil or thicker)? or is the thickness relatively the same (ie, not noticeable)? BTW, great tips. i learned a lot! thanks!
Good question and thanks for watching. You'll get a thicker coat the wider you open the fan. For example if you don't want a thick coat, dial it down and not only will it reduce your spray width, it'll also produce a thinner coat. Unfortunately there is no separate adjustment to control the fan width and maintain the the same flow.
Was thinking to go one today they are now 80$ they dont have any coupons for it right now but have 90 days to return it if not happy with it which is good, i was trying to decide what brand us better the Avanti ir Wagner's brand heard & saw kot if negative reviews on Wagner spray guns so thought i would least try the Avanti one at harbor freight, i have 232 6' foot wood pickets to paint that are new not hanging up yet i would rather have them hung up but one side of the wood pickets will be up against chain link fence so have to paint both sides of the boards be lot of work yet but will be faster i tried rolling 30 boards & was disaster had to vlean up boards being the promer leaked between noards when had them laying flat next to each other rhe following day they was glued togher & wound up scrapping primer from sides of boards.
@@BurtBowers I also have the Wagner Flexio 4300, both the Avanti and Wagner work well, but the main difference is the Wagner iSpray nozzle will spray undiluted paint. However, it can take time to get the settings (flow, pressure, & paint velocity) just right, otherwise it produces a lot of overspray or gloppy finish, whereas the Avanti is more user friendly but requires a lot of diluting if you use thick paint. The Wagner tip also dries quickly and I need to clean it every 10-15 minutes, otherwise the finish will be affected. I do like the Wagner gravity feed gun, but I probably wouldn't buy the Wagner Flexio 4300 for the iSpray canister gun again.
yeah I looked into today the Wagner flexio 2500 model which you don't have to use any water to thin out paint or primer which is what I like, it's double the money of what the Avanti spray gun that harbor freight sells but just found out today that Lowe's only has a 2 day return policy on the Wagner spray guns which home depot has 90 day return so think I'm leaning more towards the Wagner flexio 2500 model that will serve its purpose it's like I said I don't want to deal with having to add water every time in the Avanti or lower end Wagner models .@@thingsido2924
Is there a time that the sprayer clogged? If so what is the best way to un clogged? I saw a video of a Wagner that if it clogged just rotate the front part and spray the clogged will out and put it back to normal position to paint again
The Graco will certainly be a better sprayer but this gets the job done, hard to beat the price. I just painted a desk the other day with it and it came out great.
I just picked one up to spray the projects my wife wants me to build for my daughter. I used the HF LVLP sprayer on a previous project with acceptable results. I tried it on my newest project and it was clogged to hell despite me cleaning it thoroughly after I used it. (That's a first for me.) I am planning on shooting Behr Ultra with it. I picked up some Floetrol when I used the LVLP srayer. Should I use some of that in this sprayer? Or will thinning with water work well too? I didn't really measure. I just poured more Floetrol in the can until it sprayed.
I'd recommend adjusting the flow. Also check the the nozzle for any blockage. If you're using latex paint, sometimes you'll get globs of latex in the nozzle. Make sure there are no clumps of paint, if there are, clean the nozzle and strain the paint. If none of that works, maybe you can exchange it for another one. What object are you painting? What type of paint are you using?
Adding water wont change the color it just changes the consistency of the paint which might make it look lighter and may require more coats to achieve the color you're going for. 2 gallons gave me 2 coats.

Thanks for this! I'm about to test mine out for the first time. It's intimidating 😜 My paint is a Behr i300 latex paint and it says "DO NOT THIN" on the directions. Do you think I should test it out without thinning first and see how it goes?
I dont think it could hurt. If you're paint the exterior of you house with an airless sprayer then you dont want to thin the paint but if you're just using the paint for crafting or a small project it's not going to hurt to thin it. This sprayer wont spray well if you dont thin the paint.
I meant to add an update. I attempted the paint without thinning but it did not work 🙈so I thinned it and painted an entire room ceiling and all. It worked great and the results looked professional. I also started spraying my fireplace last night. My biggest issue now is trying to control my overspray. The first room wasn't an issue because I didn't have any furniture and was able to cover the whole floor and window but the fireplace is in a room with furnishings might just need more tarps because the spray dust seems to be going out pretty far into the room. It could be that I'm holding the sprayer too close to the fireplace. Any recommendations?
@@AmberHaleHustlesunfortunately I haven't tried this sprayer indoors yet. You can buy some disposable plastic sheets at Harbor Freight too. They come in 9'x12' and are like $1 each. You could cover your fireplace and items with those, just use tape around the edges to keep the over spray out. Good luck!
It'll work on ceilings but you'll need to keep it relatively full of paint and install the tube so its suction end points to the rear of the gun, otherwise when you tilt the gun up at the ceiling the tube may suck air.

"I just bought the Avanti sprayer and painted 7 homes in one hour" "I painted my house with the Avanti and a girl with big boobs said she wanted to have my baby. Now we're married. This will happen to you if you buy the Avanti." The second tip off I ignored was right in the instructions. It says in order to function correctly paint must be thinned. In order to pass through their cup in 40 seconds. YA YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE PASSES THROUGH THEIR CUP IN 40 SECONDS? WATER. AND WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU SPRAY WATER ON A WALL? EXACTLY. That's why there are so many rules to returning it. OVER 95% OF ALL AVANTI SPRAYERS ARE RETURNED.
I have no affiliation with Harbor Freight so I have no idea why you're posting your negative comment about HF on my video. You statements are not true. I'm very pleased with the sprayer and I recommend it.

YOU CAN USE A PLASTIC BAG OR PURCHASE PAINT SPRAYER LINERS so clean up won’t be as bad.

I have never thinned latex house paint! That's madness.
If you use this sprayer it's a must, otherwise it won't spray. It's much better for spraying stain or thin paints.
If you got it for $60 its a no brainer. I am on the fence with this or X5 but if i see one on sale like that I will get one.

Depends on whether it's water based enamel or oil based enamel. It should tell you what to use on the can of paint.

You should thin it

Depends on the paint you use.
Can you put oil base primer on this sprayer
You can but oil based products are harder to clean out of the sprayer. I tend to use water based products for easier clean up.
