Fantastic video and instructions on how to put it together. Thanks so nuch, I just got the sprayer from HF last weekend. Have to do my fence staining approx 300ft. Will be fun applying an oil-based sealer. I noticed your exposed feet became whiter than white while spraying those doors 🙂
I used a roller to paint my doors and they turned out great as well. But I'm considering this sprayer for tedious work like lattice, which is a royal PITA with brush and roller.
HVLP is the way to go. After purchase one you'll wonder how you ever lived without it. Do NOT buy Avanti. Look at Wagner or Graco instead, though avoid cup sprayer regardless of brand.
Agreed. As soon as I see "unboxing" I realize this is will be a crap video. Nothing about cleaning, replacing consumables, comparing different fluid types, evaluating spray tips, etc. Total waste of time.
The instructions are included; he stated that. The subject of the video.... Can a beginner get great results with this sprayer. Wasn't that he was going to explain everything to anyone or do a review. I apologize if this comes across in a negative way, that is not my intention at all. Only wanted to mention it.
Fwiw. Just used mine for the first time to stain my thoroughly-prepped, okd, cedar fence with Cabot’s Australian Timber oil. Cabot and Avanti rec. 513 tip, which takes the 60 mesh filter. There are videos from HF on how to prime. My fence has overlapped pickets, so 8ft section by 6’ tall or approx 50ft^2. Sprayed 17 sections with 5 gallons with the 513 tip and good coverage without overdoing it. Approx 175ft^2 per gallon. Gallon cans are unhandy, as the intake screen loses suction with almost 2” left in can. As you swap cans, you lose prope priming. After getting going, I was clever enought to have the input line and priming output in the same can, and would just change to the priming position after can swap for about 20 sec. It took a gallon of mineral spirits to flush the system and Then disassemble, submerge gun, small pieces and inket, outlet hoses. Gun hose end outsides were wiped down with the slightly dirty spirits. Then I used 1/2 gallon of clean spirits in a small bucket to submerge gun and all small parts, and wipe down in/out hoses and gun hose. I prepped by putting up cardboard at fence top edges to protect neighbors yard. I did no backbrush. Prepping and cleaning was significant effort, but spraying was easy and fast. 17 fence sections, 850 ft^2, 5 gallons. I was short by 3 gallons, and won’t go through the setup and cleanup again. I’d say for oil stain, it pays off with big jobs, but the cleanup and leftover dirty spirits don’t justify using it to complete
His packaging is different than how mine came. The painter, the bars, the handle, etc were all wrapped in nice thick plastic. Also, I'd suggest gloves when manipulating the gun and motor - came heavily oiled, and it smells gross and doesn't wash off easily.
When you started spraying, you were getting runs , you stated you needed to adjust the pressure, you didn't go through that process, what were your settings, also didn't talk about different tips for different spray patterns. I didn't get anything out of the video other than it turns on and sprays paint.
Im lost as to where the title 'first time painter' would suggest he knows fan sizes and paint usage for larger and smaller tip sizes. Its like asking you to give a laymens direction on how to run a plural conponent machine then walking off without watching how it goes.
Can I use the same sprayer for oil based fence stain like wood defender and use the sprayer to paint our cabinets with a primer and satin paint? I was told I should solely have a sprayer for painting cabinets and walls in my house and a second sprayer for oil based fence stains. Thoughts?

Great video! I painted our 2400sq ft home last summer with this. Saved about $10k.
Nice!
Did you paint stucco ? How as that?

Very nice thinking about buying one. Thanks for the review. Upload more projects to see how well it works and holds up please.

How did that work with you?
I didn’t think it would spray oil based paint. Were you able to spray well and clean it up?

PITA - I like Pita with Hummus!
I would have liked to have heard how to clear the clog, plus how much you increased or decreased the air pressure.

There is a round know on the side that you rotate. There is a chart on the machine with recommended tips for what you are spraying

Buying one tomorrow. It'll be my 1st paint sprayer. I'm stoked to try it out! Looks like a pretty solid unit. Especially for the price!
How did you like the unit? ..... I want to paint the interior and exterior of my house, but hate using brushes and rollers 😂.
I am a beginner and I can tell you I got excellent results on living room walls and woodwork with this sprayer.
Great to hear!
how do I know if I properly primed the paint sprayer?
Looking perfect like a professional
😊 thanks
I love mine, just had to learn some stuff the hard way
I've been thinking about getting one. Thanks for the video.
Glad I could help
Great gun, three projects. Attic painting, roof painting and siding painting. Great value from HF😊
Yeah, it is awesome1
What tip would be ideal for exterior application? Also how many tips did you go through?

Who cares about the yard. Takes a few weeks and the grass gets cut, good as new
Thank you
super helpful video, thank you.
Would u recommend this sprayer for an exterior new/fresh stucco walls? 6ft by 100ft?
Yes, this would work great for that.
You have a nice lawn/backyard, wouldve laid a tarp down and sprayed afterwards. Otherwise cool demo.
Why mess up a tarp?Cut the grass and paints gone
@@EasyPrepper Tarps are $10-$15 are you that cheap? You probably don’t own a nice lawn.

I wouldn't use a tarp, that grass will grow. Then you mow & still have a nice lawn.
Great…lawn must look cool too
Grass grows and the next mow, you don't see the paint. A 1-2week problem...
How was the cleanup?
Easy
How much paint did the sprayer use for the job?
4-5 gallons. I had a lot of doors to do
Bunch of waste this way honestly.

are you happy with the result????
he said he was very happy.
I got one today juat not sure how to prime it 😂 😊
u need to get smaller finer tips one thart comes with most pups is for walls etc Been a painter for 30 years
A like for a laugh....and useful information.
How to paint grass .
Who cares about the grass. Takes a few weeks for the grass to grow and gets cut, good as new
While u at finish the lawn !!!!
Now you’ll have a parking spot on your lawn
🤣

Why didn't you put down a tarp or something instead of over spraying the grass????? Very unprofessional.
Because its my house, my yard, and I have enough brain to know that grass grows... A week later when I mowed the yard, no trace remained.

I would not say that...
ok - tell me she did not divorce you after seeing how you painted those doors, I mean the grass and coincidently you got paint on the doors too.
