First start is always very exciting when it goes well. I’ve been there a few times when it doesn’t go well tho and that feels horrible. Especially with flat tappet break in. But congrats she sounds mean!

Thank you!! Yes the stress of trying to remember if you put everything back together right is ridiculous.

I just built a big block 454 for my 1977 c20, coated the camshaft and lifters, pre-oiled the engine with oil pump tool and drill, dumped some gas down carb, had timing light ready, started way easier and thank the motor Gods no wiped camshaft lobe always run 2000 rpm for 20 minutes to break in camshaft lifters, good luck

That’s awesome! Good to know I will definitely do that next time thanks

You must RUN new engine 20 minutes at 2000rpm for 20 minutes at start up or risk a wiped camshaft lobe, the crank needs to splash the camshaft.

Nice job! I did that gauge cluster a lot. Seem to work okay? I think it would look great in my 66 GMC Pickup. There isn't much cluster options because the GMC dash is different from the Chevy C10.

Thank you! Yes I love this gauge cluster I run the same one in my 61 Ranchero. I’ve got about 2,200 miles on it with no issues. I would suggest getting the Autometer gps speed sensor. It’s a little extra $$ but it’s always dead on.

Hopefully you didn't wipe out your cam and lifters not running the breakin procedure immediately.

They were used cam and lifters so we didn’t have to break them in

That’s why it’s turning so slow I’m sure you’ve figured this out by now lol you’ll burn the starter up that way
