    This is the first actual review I’ve seen of this knife. Great review. Knife is a beast. It has been my sole EDC for a month now.

      It's definitely well done. Rike Knife has alot of great choices on their own as well. Microtechs decision to team up with them was a good choice.

    I have a SOCOM Bravo acting to ship from KnifeCenter. It's the clip point combo-edge partially serrated model. I have a fair number of knives - some bigger, some smaller. This one I'm particularly keen on having it in hand. Not a fan of all Rike Knives but I appreciate the workmanship. The Rike M2 is one of my grail knives. Sigh... too bad they're discontinued.

    • @3minuteknives
      @3minuteknives  ปีที่แล้ว

      The M2 is great. You can still find them on the secondary market from time to time. You'll like the Socom.

    Only complaint I had on mine was the edge. You said in the video that the edge is done in house by them and I don't think that's the case. Probably the laser etching on the blades but if they did the edge in house it would cost much more. But it was fixed with about 20mins of stropping. Slices like a laser. Tanto edge may be sharper than the main cutting edge, now. Cool. Awesome review! 🤙⚔

    • @3minuteknives
      @3minuteknives  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching. Yeah, Not positive on whether they do it in house or if Rike Knives makes everything and then Microtech just assembles. Or maybe Rike does everything including assembly. Who knows, it's tough to get a straight answer nowadays. I've had a few other Microtechs with similar edges though. But, it's a great knife regardless.

    • @michaelr7254
      @michaelr7254 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@3minuteknives From what I've seen it's not quite a Microtech edge bit it's pretty damn close. Always comes down to cost. I'm sure they did the laser etching but if they ground the blades in house it would've gone from $325 to maybe $4, 450. And people complain about it. Still to this day paying over $500 for it. Glad I joined the party before it got too expensive
      Edit: According to Microtech, they claim each one is assembled and the blade is sharpened in house. That may be the case as these are VERY hard to find now, as well. Had mine for almost a month. It's awesome

    Thanks for your review, agree with pretty much everything you pointed out. For fit and finish, precision machining this is on par with Reate, shiro and CRK imo and better than rhk. Hey, thanks for watching. I haven't had that experience. To me the clip is pretty solid. It is Titanium so it will get scratched , but it's pretty thick so I don't see it having an issue with bending. But then again, any knife you use on a regular basis so get beat up.

    Solid content. I’m going back and forth btwn the Bravo and the Elite. Given that both are quite similar in price now, I’m leaning more towards the Bravo given the material, finishing and aesthetics. Do you still have it? If so, have you unearthed any new positives/negatives of the knife since posting this video? Thanks!

    • @3minuteknives
      @3minuteknives  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there, thanks for watching. I do still have it and carry it on a regular basis. For me, the Bravo is a much better knife. I've had a few Socom Elites and moved them all along pretty quick. The materials, the look, the action, the ergonomics in hand all make the Bravo a better fit for me. The Elite is a classic and is a good design., but the tip down carry, no lanyard hole, aluminum handles, a few minor hot spots make the price point a little too much for me to be comfortable with.

    • @MCFCTheMadHatter
      @MCFCTheMadHatter ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@3minuteknives Thanks for the quick response. One thing I did want to ask about was the degree of detent. In some reviews it’s been said that the detent is quite weak, to the point where it would be entirely possible to have knife open simply by lightly shaking it in the hand, blade down, and it will open. Others have said that although lite, it quite to the degree that some have said. And I know if the detent is super weak simply tightening the pivot won’t fix it, or so I’ve read. Thanks again!

    • @3minuteknives
      @3minuteknives  ปีที่แล้ว

      @The Mad Hatter I've had 3 different Bravos and yes the detent is a little lite, but not so much that the blade falls out with a light shake. The detent strength has to do with the lockbar tension and the size of the detent ball not the pivot. I haven't had an issue at all with the Bravo.

    • @MCFCTheMadHatter

      @@3minuteknives Thanks for the mechanical info on the lock bar & pivot (I’m new to the knife game. Guns and watches currently, but this Bravo caught my eye and has had me going down all kinds of rabbit holes regarding knives lol).
      That’s great! Just what I wanted to read! I think that just paged me over the edge - drop point partially serrated Bravo is in my near future lol
      Ps. Spartan Pallas is also on my list. Not sure if you’ve any experience with it, but as being a little under the radar, it’s quite a piece too and a little $$ as well

      @3minuteknives  ปีที่แล้ว

      @The Mad Hatter The Pallas is a great knife. I've handled few just haven't owned one. I wish it was about 80-100 bucks cheaper considering the materials used, but if you have the spare money it's a good button lock. My favorite button locks are the Maxace Babylon and the ADV pitboss.

      Well, that's the whole point. The reality is that a good majority of the people that buy these more expensive knives like to fidget with them. I open and close alot in my vids because that's what the people want.

    • @3minuteknives
      @3minuteknives  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@wrjames38 I appreciate the feedback. I have to disagree in part though. The majority of my vids are 3 minutes or less because I want to give a quick concise overvuew of the knife, which includes the action(opening&closing) I don't cut shit, because it's a knife, they all cut. I don't do unboxings because they're ridiculous. Most of the reviewers out there, including Jim Skelton, go on and on about the same thing forever. They get the majority of their knives knives for free and skew their reviews to the positive wether they believe it or not I've purchased nearly every knife I've ever reviewed with my own money that I work hard for. My reviews are unbiased in that if there is something wrong with the knife, I say it. And your wrong about the opening & closing. I've been into the knife game for 20+ years, have bought, sold and traded tens of thousands of dollars in knives and the overwhelming consensus nowadays is for a knife to have good action. Now, it doesn't mean that it's not a good knife if it doesn't drop shut, but having a good knife that also drops shut is a plus for most. Once again, thanks for watching and I hope you find some valuable info in my reviews .

    • @wrjames38
      @wrjames38 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@3minuteknives I completely agree about the length of videos and unboxings are worthless! Waiting 2-3 minutes while they show a UPS or USPS box on screen is stupid!
      The video of the Socom Bravo (from Skeleton) was long and he went on too long about the negative response in the community! My point being, He does open and close the knife to show action, But the star is the knife on screen in full view for viewers to see. Not continuously opened/closed distracting!
      I only commented because you speak well without word fillers(ahs, Ums , And like) like most others channels. Enjoy the rest of your weekend
