@gmbntech High pivot trial bikes?!
I'm very late to the party apparently I still rock my fully rigid trial bike 🤘😂
That dude sat next to Anna looks like an inventor 🤔
🤣
i-track suspension has been around for 10 years, Hugh Mcleay from Adelaide, Australia I believe.
Craftworks designer also, And the itrack is used on the Aussie made Trinity mtb too!
Great show.
As someone who loves short travel bikes I'd love to try it. Don't need it at all but i do get excited about seeing something different out there.
#quiz The Norco Rail was a Chopper style bike - similar to the Sting-Ray by Schwinn (or the Raleigh Chopper which came a couple of years after) - would love Blake to take one down a track
We had a rail and another 1960's Norco of the same style (900 something) at our cottage they were left from the previous owners, sadly our favorite activity was to run down the hill to the lake and jump them into the waters 😂
So happy I Ve got not this selfmade problems from a full suspension.
Hardtail!!!!!!
I’m wondering if the Optics short travel bike is perfect fit for peddling on rough trails? Maybe it fits a very specific niche. Lots of peddling on rough trails without a lot of long smooth climbs. Someone that can attack technical stuff up to a certain point. Not bombing flow trail with jumps. I’m also a bit heavy and I hear it feels like it has more than 125. At 52 for how much I ride, at my weight and limits this bike is interesting to me on the proper trail variables.
#quiz it was a fancy chopper style bike with the shifter on the top tube
Looking at the high pivot bikes, there is now a minimum amount of tooth engagement on the main chainring. Now less than 25% of chainring. Surely this must either lead to greater wear on the front chainring and greater chance to break or deform chainring teeth or chain?
Or are these bikes just downhill focused where pedalling isn't really a large proportionof the riding time??
@gmbntech A question about seat position. On a full sus bike as the suspension compresses it rotates the seat backwards and upwards. Therefore, when setting up the seat position should you be taking into account the change of angle caused by the rear shock sag?
#quiz Original Norco Rail was a cruiser!
I've just removed the chain guard because it was getting clogged with mud and twigs and causing all sorts of chain trouble. I can't see a HP withstanding this UK mud, and it can't be removed.
Gimmick, high pivot optic, for the sake of doing something ‘new’ to make people want to update. Makes it heavier too.
@@ryanmichels2981 have you tried it yet?
I see what Blake thinks😂😂😂......
Norco bikes have always been very grounded with the jump bikes being the only exception. The dule sus bikes aren't that poppy IMO. They're better suited for big lofty jumps
How is mineral oil hard to clean…. I keep a spray bottle of isopropyl alcohol and that’s enough
Good show Anna and Blake, it been so funny watching you both getting your mords wixed.
Thanks for watching! 👍
Does anybody know how to accurately calculate or otherwise find a pneumatic fork's spring rate/spring constant on a hardtail setup? I need it to fit a steel spring adequate for my weight.
My bike cave is a pile of bikes next to a pile of parts with a toolbox standing in the middle. Would you be interested? 😂
finally! a realistic cave xD
Pretty close to what mine looked like a few weeks ago :D
SOLD! Send in some pictures 👉 upload.gmbn.com/
Since many of these 3-D printed and bonded bikes cost $13K+, I wonder how many years the "bonding" will hold. I would hate to be zooming downhill on a trail 3-4 years later and have my downtube or something suddenly come undone.
#quiz a chopper style bike
I have 2022trek slash factory orange paid 3200 is immaculate n upgrades r renthal fat bar lite 35mm 760mm n renthal stem, magura mt7 Pro brakes bought n had threaded through frame, invisi frame, michelin wild enduro tyres, dmr vault pedals venzise multi tool insert kit, grey death grips obviously ergon seat n love love,wa would u think its worth 2nd hand
I have a 2022 Santa Cruz Chameleon with a Fox 34 130mm fork. I want to upgrade to a Fox 38 170mm fork but my frame is rated for 140mm max and has an integrated headset. Can I safely do this?
yes you can do it, but pls keep in mind that 3cm of fork length will change geo of your bike. To compensate for this, you can set up your fork to a higher sag. You may also need to install some tokens to increase the fork progression, which is quite crucial for a hardtail.
If I may share my thoughts here, I would not buy a 170mm 38 fork for a hardtail. It does not make much sense, it is a bit too much. I would recommend to go for a 150mm fork, with ~36mm stanchions. BTW, Chameleon is a great bike!
Thank you for your insight, it is much appreciated! I will look for a Fox 36 or Marzocchi Z1 in 150mm instead. I wasn't sure about the Fox 38, it's just on sale for a hefty discount.
Setting more sag is a great idea. The frame is rated for 140mm travel, but most 36mm stanchion forks I can find are 150mm. I do run 3 tokens in my Fox 34, it helps with the drops!
I love the Chameleon 8, but to be honest I don't have anything to compare it to, haha.
@@chax8587great, btw, Fox aftermarket forks tend to be quite costly:). You can also check Rock Shox forks, I ride 150mm Revelation on my hardtail, it is a great fork and also very affordable. Good luck!
High pivot everything. Why wouldn't you want the wheel to travel in the right direction?
Some have said it causes the bike to lack pop! But if you're after a short travel bike that eats roots and rocks for breakfast then this could be the perfect bike! 🤘
@@gmbntech that's fair if you need to jump or other "trials-adjacent" skills, but I really think it's great for the faster chatter you often get in XC.
What happened to Isaac?
" innovation" aka we solved a problem nobody had, just so we can make you think your bike is outdated and sell you a new bike that you don't need
No its more like theres already the fluid, which isnt a high pivot. If you dont like the optic, get a fluid.
Yup
Nah - new ideas are fun. Don't get all butt hurt that you don't have it.
Nobody "needs" a MTB, so this is pointless...
That is more or less the leading principle of the bicycle business. In fact, in most cases you could ride your bicycle without many of the so called essentials that manufacturers say are necessary in a modern off-road bicycle, including suspension. Technically, suspension is only mandatory on extremely harsh terrain, which means only mountains and dense forests with roots and holes in the ground. Many people propagate the view that lack of suspension causes arms and legs pains, but that is not true either, as if you are even decently fit you can use your body parts as suspension comfortably, and get even fitter in the process.
So happy I Ve got not this selfmade problems from a full suspension.
Hardtail!!!!!!
