Can you use any of these products on plank subfloor while applying nail down hardwood floors.

Is there anything like this available in the States? This looks like the best product I have seen for my specific project.

      Hi John,
I wish I could point you in the right direction but I'm not familiar with a US-based company offering the same solution. Best of luck solving your sound issue!
      Many thanks,
      Miles

i already have done my laminate flooring by a professional flooring some time ago but after a year i have heard my neighbours getting more and more noisey (loud tv and talking from bottom apartment where they live so, re-thinking of doing my flooring again to combat this as i have noticed the flooring is not really great for noise reduction) Im Uk based so was wondering what would be the best solution out of these products you mentioned would be the best to combat this solution, thanks

This sounds flippant but I'm being serious: couldn't I just lay down those very thin yoga mats? They're likely a lot cheaper and probably do the same thing if you tape it all up, right?

      Hi Matt,
it's a fair question! I certainly don't have any test data on yoga mat soundproofing but I can tell you all foams are not created equal. MuteMat 2 & 3 use closed-cell foam specifically designed for impact reduction. A slim yoga mat wouldn't likely hold up to long-term compression very well. Adding the high-density vinyl also helps reduce airborne sound transmission that the foam doesn't significantly affect.
      I hope this helps!

    Hi team,
I’m looking to purchase the product.
Sorry, just to be clear and would appreciate if you can help:
    1. So my room floor layers are the following currently (from bottom up):
Timber (with no acoustic insulation between joists)
    Chip wood flooring
    Poor carpet underlay
    Then my carpet
… the sound from downstairs is ridiculous!
    A. So just to be clear, which product shall I buy? Link and price? Bear in mind I don’t care about the cost, I just want the noise to go!
    B. What would the correct set of layers be?
    C. Do any of your products act as underlay for carpet too? (So I don’t have to have a separate layer for carpet)
    4. Any suggestions on acoustic insulation? (To fill up 50-80% between joists, hopefully!)
    5. Whilst my current issue is for my floor. Any suggestions for the same idea (noise cancellation) for a plasterboard wall? (Layers etc.)
Thank you!! You’d be saving my life!
    And oh, subscribed and liked!

      Hey Team,
In all honestly, I’ll be looking to give a call in a few months (not looking to do the work yet). I would appreciate just info gathering at this stage :)
And thoughts / any answers on the above.

      Hi Shakib,
Thanks for reaching out! I can answer some of your questions and point you in the direction of some useful resources!
We do offer underlays that you can lay carpet right on top of but if your sound issue is particularly bad you will need to look at replacing the insulation between the joists + further mitigation techniques. Most of our customers use Rockwool RW3 60kg/m3 for this. To help you find the flooring solution for you please test out our product finding quick here >>> www.ikoustic.co.uk/soundproofing-quiz/ This page should also help if you want to investigate some wall soundproofing options too!
If you would prefer to speak with one of our consultants about your project, just give our team a call!
      Kind regards,
      Miles
