Hello in this Nikon D3400 video from Camerawize we are going to look at the flash options in the Nikon D3400. The Nikon D3400 has both a built-in flash and also a hotshoe which allows you to have a Flashgun or off-camera flash. The built-in flash is designed to be effective over about two - two and a half meters with the kit lens and it offers you both manual settings and Auto settings. The AUTO settings are effectively ETTL which stands for Evaluative Through The Lens and basically means that the camera and the flash communicate with each other to ensure that when the flash goes off the camera gets the best possible exposure for your photos. When you are in the automatic modes, the built-in flash offers you various automatic settings. So, for example, it offers you redeye reduction which is particularly useful when you are taking portraits, but it also offers you SLOW SYNC which is especially useful if you are taking pictures with a dark background and you want to bring the background out, while still illuminating the subject in the foreground. When you are in the manual settings - M, A, s, and P you also get some of those functions, like redeye reduction and slow sync, but you also get REAR CURTAIN which allows you to take action photography with your flash. There are also many options for you when you are using a flash gun, but they tend to be the options that the flash gun itself has built into it. If you want to know more about the flash options for the Nikon D3400 then you should take a look at a free sample of our SUPERB MANUAL for this camera. The manual comes with over four hours of over-the-shoulder videos and with the free sample you get two of those videos absolutely free. One of the videos is the full 40 minute video that we have for flash, flashguns and off-camera flash options for this camera. This Nikon D3400 video from Camerawize is one of many, take a look at the channel!

I was disappointed not to find more information within your video rather than being pointed towards your manual.

Useless video. I can't find my manual and was looking for the quick answer to how do you turn off the built in auto flash.

It depends which setting you are in, but by pressing the i button, you get access to the flash option and, if it is in a setting which has the flash, you can usually use that to switch it off.
