    Two things real quick!
    1. For those wondering, yes I had an immigration lawyer take me through the process. He was just as surprised as I was at it’s rejection.
    2. There appears to be some scammers in the comments 😞 If the account doesn’t have a tick next to it, it’s not me. I’ll never directly message anyone for a giveaway or cash transfer or whatever the heck they’re offering. I’ve tried to remove them all but they might be back later. Stay safe everyone!

I’m so sorry to hear this. Usually renewals are easy unless you change the status of residence or employment then … it’s hard.
I’m sure you’ve been over it, examined every option - I had to leave once in 2003. Same situation. Came back a few months later. COE took forever. Learned lessons. Just a distant memory now so it’ll get better :)

I had the exact same experience as you earlier this year! My VISA was also rejected as being "different to the VISA description" despite a lawyer working on my application and being shocked at the outcome! I wonder if somewhere along the line the internal criteria changed leading to our rejections...
I really hope it will be sorted out soon in your case 🙏 I was also so stressed and heartbroken over the idea of being kicked out of the life I have created in Japan, so I know exactly how you feel 💔

    • @CurrentlyHannah
      @CurrentlyHannah  ปีที่แล้ว +8

Yes I’ve heard it happening to a few people recently! I think it has something to do with the type of visa I’m applying for, it’s a little vague on what kind of work could be considered under it but honestly who knows! My immigration lawyer was also shocked by it 😞
I hope that things got sorted quickly and painlessly for you!

All immigration systems favor the wealthy and the well connected. It sucks but that reality is what it is. I went through the Japan visa noodle shredder twice during the pandemic so I get your frustration. Be patient and persistent and you’ll get there.

I'm going through the same thing right now and have been watching both of your videos worrying. I've been here 3 years and have my love and life as I know it here. I have been to immigration 4 times in 5 weeks and keep getting scary letters with red text through the door. I keep providing more information and telling myself 'they're asking for more so they must want to help'. But who knows if that = help 😭😭😭😭

Giiirl, stay strong! That is a terrible and very stressful process. I went through exactly the same situation 4 years ago when applying for my EU residence permit (I'm from Belarus). Same, got rejected of Lithuanian residence permit where my whole life is. And then I had to stay in that "limbo" of uncertainty for three more months, being scared that all my life will be lost. Eventually I got my residence permit approved, and came back home. But those three months were the most depressing in my life. When you describe how you feel, that is exactly how I was feeing during that period, and that was absolutely terrible. I want to give you a big hug, and send you the kindest words of support. Just know that eventually you will get your visa, approved. If not from the first time, then from the second one for sure. Don't give up! I wish all the best to you and your future!

I always feel lost when going back to Australia. I love my country, where I spent the first 22 years of my life, but it's not my home anymore, not the life I built. Getting forced back makes it so much harder, you feel trapped despite being able to go anywhere in the world. Take this moment to explore the beautiful country that is Australia, the wilderness, the wild beaches. Let its majestic beauty envelop you standing alone 100 miles from nowhere as the sun warms you skin. Then go home, hug your mom and all will be ok. You'll get that visa one way or another.

Yes also visit the Howard Springs centre near Darwin in the Northern Territory. It’s a really interesting part of Australian history. About a year ago back in 2021 the Australian government had this concentration camp set up for people who tested positive for Covid. They would send you there even if you lived hundreds of miles away. If you tried to escape they would track you down and arrest you.
Such an amazing and majestic country to explore and enjoy!

Yes. I got stuck back in Oz from my decade of a life elsewhere when they shut the border in 2020. Still here, remade my life eventually. People said I was 'lucky'. Didn't feel it. Yes, I. speak the language, don't need a visa and know how to 'do' things here. But overall it was like having to go back to a partner you divorced already.

I totally get that sense of lost joy going home after an extended period away.
I had recently requested assignment with NATO in Brussels, Belgium, before going home for the first time in nearly four years. However, I was essentially "ghosted" by those who control assignments until well after that trip. I had to continually explain to friends and family the situation, and each and every time that feeling of dreadful uncertainty came right back to the foreground.
I've since learned that I won't be going to Brussels. The good news, though, is that after a month of negotiations I will be going back to Sasebo, Nagasaki prefecture for what will be my fourth assignment in Japan. And I couldn't be more excited!
Embody resilience - stay connected with friends and family - and let us know how things go! Gambate!

When I changed job in Japan I no longer had a valid reason to be there (meaning my job didn’t match my visa anymore) but Japanese immigration lawyers can get very ‘creative’ and are worth the money and the stress, they deal with immigration on your behalf.
