I’m white. My paternal grandmother’s husband (my paternal grandfather had passed years before) was Filipino. I never met my biological paternal grandfather (he was from Finland and passed before I had been born) but I called my grandmother and her husband Grandma and Grandpa Dagdagan

It sounds like that typical thing, when you wanna say that you have an interest in someones origins...and you don't know how to say it... without being funny or even come on as racist.😂🙈 I know the struggle, cos I always have trouble with that. I am blond and I am german. So it happened a few times that people assumed I was racist. Funny enough... it's the racists that assume I am one of them. Once they out themselves as such, you only see a cloud of dust where I stood.
I am the total opposite. I grew up with a stepfather from Africa. And I just won't ever understand how having a different skin colour or a different culture can be negative. Do I like every culture I ever came across? No. But I don't have to. Damn, I don't like most of german culture. Meeting people from different countries is so cool! You have so much to talk about! So nice to learn new stuff, try new food. Especially if you can't afford travels, it's so cool!
